    Thank you so much Mark for this video. I got a Kindle Scribe for Christmas and I love the device. What I like best about your contribution is that it's a mouthwatering presentation of the Scribe and not a summary of all the things that might be wrong with this Kindle (There are more than enough CZcams videos about that...) So for me your video is the best and most enjoyable introduction I've seen so far. Keep on going! I'm enjoying your channel very much and I'm curious what's coming next from you! Best wishes from Salzburg/Austria, Thomas

    Thanks for the deep dive. The Scribe for me has two separate functions which are unlinked. The notes function (separate from the sticky notes) doesn't interface with my reading function... yet. It also doesn't seem to have Bluetooth 5 to handle modern earphones. I will need to dig about for older Bluetooth earphones and see if this could fix that issue.

    I have the Kindle Scribe and like it very much except for one thing. As a reading device it lacks the ability to remove books from the home page to the library where the collections are. Organizing your books is important so the home page isn't being cluttered with new books you have purchased or books you have read but don't need them on the home page any longer. The Kindle App on the iPhone, iPad, and Fire have the capability to remove the books back to the library and into collections. Amazon software writers please help the reader have the control for a more pleasant experience.

    Love the look of the scribe - I quite like how the case makes it a bit like a flip up notepad, but would prefer a book style open if one exists.
    I have a Kindle Paperwhite, iPad Pro and Surface Pro - Only thing holding me back from a Scribe or Remarkable etc. is that I've used OneNote as my cross-platform digital note Taking app for about 14 years and I'm reluctant to move away to a new platform.
    Tried a colleagues ReMarkable and it does feel really nice to write on, I know the Scribe uses the same screen tech - I like the look of the scribe a bit more because I could replace my Kindle

      @DanielHarrisCodes Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@mark_kellyI actually just took delivery of a Scribe today so ended up back on your video to get an overview of my new device, and noticed my comment 😂
      I’m still going to be using OneNote on my Laptops/Tablets as I use it to collate useful links and info for my various projects etc.
      I think Scribe will replace what I use Apple Notes for….day to day notes - Anything that needs to be kept long term can be moved to OneNote in my “second brain” notebook, but the long term stuff like links and project info I tend to collect when on my laptop anyway.
      Scribe should also be able to replace another one of my OneNote notebooks (Which is a bit like the daily planner you showed)
      Looking forward to lots of distraction free note taking in the new year, as well as doing quite a bit of reading over Xmas - The screen is gorgeous and just feels nicer to read on than my Kindle Paperwhite was

    1. when you write something in the notebook, once you fll the page, how do add a new page, or how do you pass to another page?
    2. how many pages per Notebook can we add?
    3. how many Notebooks can we add?

    • @mark_kelly
      @mark_kelly  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Hey Marko! Thanks for your kind comment about my videos. ⁣

      Here is my best answers to your questions: ⁣

      1. To add a new page in a notebook on the Kindle Scribe, you tap the top menu while you’re in a notebook and select the notebook overview. From there, you have the option to add/insert pages, giving you more control over your notebook’s layout.⁣

      2. While the specific number of pages you can add per notebook isn’t explicitly mentioned anywhere that I looked, the Kindle Scribe is designed to handle extensive note-taking and organization needs. Given its storage options (8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB), the limit is likely high, but dependent on the overall storage capacity of your device and the sizes of your notebooks.⁣

      3. The total number of notebooks you can add is also not specified anywhere I can see, but it is influenced by the Kindle Scribe’s storage capacity. The device allows you to organize your content effectively, implying that you can create a significant number of notebooks as long as you have the storage to support them.⁣

      4. Yes, you can export your handwritten notebooks to text when you’re ready to share them. This can be done via email, and you have the option to “Convert to text and quick send” or “Convert to text and email” your notebook as a .txt file.
      Hope this helps! If I’m wrong about any of this hopefully the community will correct me. 😀

      That’s not true at all! You can use it on AND offline. Of course when not connected to the internet you wouldn’t be able to sync notes and download new books. 📚

      Thank you for replying. I've read so many comments from people who mentioned they had issues accessing their books (previously downloaded on the device) without the internet connection. Will I still be able to take notes and save them in an offline mode?

      No problem. 😊 I’ve never had an issue taking notes when offline, nor reading books. I’ve never heard of it being an issue in all honesty.

      I think that unless you plan to download audio books you should be good plenty okay with that.
      In saying that I guess I would always say that if you can afford the extra storage you probably should get it.
      Enjoy your Scribe 🤩

    Yes I admit it looks cool, but the price is the same as a decent tablet, which will also do reading and note taking, and then a thousand things more. And the small size of the usual kindle is way more convenient.

      I think the fact it's not a tablet means it doesn't have all the distractions of an iPad. I'm interested in getting either a Scribe, a SuperNote A5 or a Remarkable 2 (or possibly the brand new Boox Tab Ultra C with its colour screen!) for taking notes at work, so not having things that would interrupt my work is a good thing.

    And how to get your drawings to a PC?

    • @mark_kelly
      @mark_kelly  Před rokem +1

      Hey Paula. As it stands at the moment you can only export notes (or drawings) as a PDF. Amazon email a link to the PDF which is available for download for 7 days. If there’s another way to get stuff off the device I’d love to hear about it from folks.

    • @PaulaBean
      @PaulaBean Před rokem +2

    Couldn’t even finish the video. The Kindle screen is incredibly slow. I mean even with editing you can’t hide it. Clicks on the highlight a word and ….and… wait for it… Ah Lookup, underline etc. STEP 1: increase overall processing speed. STEP 2 increase screen refresh. (See Boox Tab X). STEP 3. Create a the ability to mark up books not sticky notes. THESE are the most basic and FUNDAMENTAL needs for this device to find a home in my hands EVER. Amazon is sitting on their laurels. It’s very, very sad to see their lack of development. The screen is awesome though.

    • @mark_kelly
      @mark_kelly  Před rokem +16

      Appreciate your comments and expressing your thoughts eloquently. The speed I’m not overly bothered by, if at all. In a way it helps me process what I’m writing. I do agree that Amazon needs to try harder and even though they’ve recently released an update with more in the pipeline, they are playing catch up. This is my first foray into eInk note-taking and I’d love to be able try out other devices in this area. Maybe if I can get my sub count up some ad money will pay for new tech! (Oh, and please finish the video, it helps with the algorithm 😉)

      @@rush48192 you could still do work on e-inks eg as a student with extensive reading and note-taking. But for that I'd need much better cloud-syncing and a proper file management, which the Scribe doesn't do, but other e-inks have had for ages. And no, I definitely prefer my e-ink over an LED-tablet.

    • @thatguy5564
      @thatguy5564 Před 10 měsíci +15

      Whoa relax, It's a damn e-ink device for god sake, it's not suppose to be anything like an ipad.It's specifically designed for reading and note taking, THAT'S IT. the slow refresh rate is so the device can last days/weeks without charging. It's not meant to be an alternative tablet option. I use it for taking notes and reading and it's way better than using a regular tablet, no eye strain whatsoever and taking notes feels wayyy more natural like paper and pencil than writing on a ipad screen. This device isn't for everyone, just ppl who ONLY want to read books and write with no other distractions.

    • @janman1439

      You are comparing Scribe to a device that lasts a day on a charge and costs twice as much, it's as if you were trying to milk a bull and then blamed the poor creature for the result.
