Screen protector & titanium nibs:
While I've been using my device with a titanium pen tip without a screen protector and haven't run into any issues, if you're worried about screen wear or scratches, opting for a screen protector could offer added safety. Regular inspection of your screen's health as a preventive step is advisable as a safeguard in any case.

Just a quick follow-up on the concerns someone raised in the comments about using a titanium nib potentially causing problems: My Scribe's screen has stayed in top condition since recording the video, even with regular use of the titanium tip. Still, I’d recommend to regularly check your screen for signs of wear just as a precaution. Adding a screen protector could also offer a layer of safety. Personally, I’ll continue to use the titanium nib without additional protection, but it's really about what you're comfortable with. Regular inspection of your screen to maintain its condition is generally a smart habit - with or without a screen protector. 🖖
Another pen tip: if you are taking notes, you can lay then pen down on left bezel (the wide bezel) and it will turn the kindle off. When you pick up the pen it will turn back on and you can continue writing.
This also works for left-handed use. Just flip the device 180, in order to the wide "grip" area on the appropriate side to suit your handedness...
Thank you for that tip! I did not know about this!
This is awesome thanks for sharing that!
Sometimes this works, but most of the time it doesn't. 😐
That is totally cools, thanx😊
I love my Scribe, and your tips made me love it even more! Now all I need is layers in sketchbook!
Been using a Scribe for over a year now and still learned a thing or two about my device. The screen shot and image tracing were both new to me and will be useful. Thanks.
Screenshot one is crazy. Thanks.
I’ve just bought a new kindle. Your video is really helpful. Thanks for sharing
I have had my Scribe for about a month now and while reading on it has been wonderful, the note taking functions remain more difficult for me to understand and use. This video will be a great help! Thank you so much. I really enjoy your content. 😊
Super helpful! Thanks.
Came here for scribe advice and tips. Stayed for the Enterprise!
Just received my Scribe today and thank you for the tips. I am sure I will put this device to good use. Is no one going to mention the LCARS in the background??? I mean, wow!! Plus those badges?????!!!!
Very use full video. thanks for that.
Why cant i have just one of the built in screensavers as my screensaver?!
Thank you!!
I also want to compliment you on the great video. Is it possible to get a transcription? it is easier for me to follow it in writing than verbally alone.
Fantastic tips! Amazon should include a link to this video in their kindle scribe description page. Really helped speed up the learning curve with the new scribe. Thank you!
I love my kindle scribe. great video. do you know when they will make another update? I was wondering if they will bring the "alt + tab" switching back and forth between windows quickly like we do in the computer. I find it annoying having to click through buttons just to switch between my book and my notes.
Unfortunately Amazon is pretty tight-lipped about future plans right now. In the beginning they communicated upcoming changes, but not at the moment.
Personally, I think they'll continue to improve the software further. Alt-Tabbing is something Kobo has implemented quite well, so they might add that as well in the future.
Hey there, does anyone know if they're planning to implement shared screen function as on the remakable 2? It's the huge drawback I'm currently experimenting... I want to share my screen during team meetups so that's the feature on the top of my wishlist !
Can we share the screen on laptop?
Oh that hide toolbar option is a game changer. It does kind of distract during book reading. Thank you 🎉 // also do you still use the titanium tips? Any light scratches etc on screen over time?
Yes, I still use them and haven't seen any scratches from normal use. But I also did more testing and intentionally scratched the screen with the titanium nib by putting on A LOT of pressure. So it's possible, but I had to press pretty hard on the screen for it to happen. Those scratches are almost invisible (even if you know where they are) with the backlight turned on, but can be seen if the backlight is off.
I'll do a follow up on the topic in a couple of weeks.
@@ChalidRaqami thank you so much for the in depth reply. Means a lot that you took the time to get in detail. Thank you for what you do with the channel etc. Have a great day and look forward to the update as well as all your new content. Cheers 🙏🏻
This was very helpful. Thank you. Is there a way to copy and paste a part of an ebook I am reading onto a note in the Notebook section? Or is there another device that has this feature? I would make great use of this if it is available.
Thanks :)
That's not possible on the Kindle Scribe. What you can do is to highlight larger portions on a page and add a sticky note with handwriting.
On Onyx Boox tablets, you can copy text from a book and paste it into a notebook.
@@ChalidRaqami Thank you so much for the reply and for the great tips! I will seriously look into the Onyx Boox... I really like the Tab Ultra C Pro as of right now. Thank you again and Happy New Year!
Do you know if the vocabulary feature works if, say, your native language is English, but you're reading books in French for the purpose of language learning?
Is there any reason to get the storage size above and beyond the 16gb base if you don’t plan to do audiobooks on the device? Do notes chew up a bunch of storage? Are all of your notes stored to cloud so you can offload / re-download later?
No, I'd say the 16 gigs model is more than enough for most people when not using audiobooks. Notebooks don't take up as much room, but PDFs/comics/mangas might take up a little more. But still, 16 gigs is sufficient imho.
Yes, notes are synced and can be removed from the Scribe and re-downloaded later with just a tap.
Is there a way to make the keyboard keys larger and darker? I am having issues not seeing it clearly
Yes, you can make the keyboard and the rest of the user interface slightly larger by going to the device's settings and switch the layout size: More (bottom right corner on the homescreen) -> Accessibility -> Layout size -> Large.
Not the biggest difference, but definitely better than nothing.
How can you turn off page turning with the pen? Every time I’m writing in a pdf the pages turn based on the direction my pen is writing. Super annoying and rendering the scribe useless.
Where can i buy the titanium for my pen? How can I know what to buy? Thanks ❤
Hi - I've put a link in the description :) Those are the ones I'm using
I wish i could disable wikipedia after highlighting text. All i want is to translate and i have to switch every time to the second option. It also takes to many steps to switch from a pdf or book to your notebook.
Yes, I 100% agree, allowing to select a default lookup-tool would be great and it was actually possible at one point with (much) older software. No idea why they changed that.
Can you underline, not hilight , text in Kindle Scribe with premium pen ?
Only in PDF-files that you sent through the Send-To-Kindle function (and are converted in the process). In regular Kindle ebooks it's not possible to annotate directly on a page. You can only do highlights and sticky notes here at the moment.
I;m in book, but I don't have the option to put the clock visible (after pressing the A button). Is that something that I need to enable somewhere else? In fact, I'm seeing that I don't have other options that you are describing, like Word Wise :(
Hi - you need to specifically need to turn on the clock in the settings. Go to the text settings (Aa-button), and then to "More". Here you can find the "Show Clock While Reading", which you need to tap once to switch it on.
Here you can also find the option to turn on Word Wise. Scroll down to the bottom of that same menu and turn on Word Wise. However, it's not available in all books, so you might not be able to see it if the books doesn't support it.
Ive been thinking about a Scribe for a long time, but I keep asking myself if I can add a blank page for me to write notes directly in the Amazon Books, that's the feature Im looking for
No, that's unfortunately not possible :-/ The Kobo Elipsa 2E has a cool feature to quickly switch between notebooks and ebooks. That's almost like what you're describing. Unfortunately the pen's latency is noticeably worse on that one.
Kindle just have to copy remarkable's functionalities with its notebooks and it will be perfect lol. I do miss the ability to zoom in and out of your notebooks and the shortcut tap gestures. Who needs a premium pen with an eraser when you can just so quickly erase by two finger tap? Also the straight line function is still mind blowing lol
I want to move a page from one folder to another folder. When I try to use the "move" feature it only allows me to move the page within the same folder or to email it. All the time I have spent trying to figure this out, I could have copied the notes over to the other folder by hand, but I am stubborn and can't believe there isn't a "move option" or a "cut and paste" option?
How can I read my notebooks online?
Amazon makes it a bit difficult right now unfortunately. But you can do it with this workaround:
1. Install a user agent switcher for your browser.
2. Switch the user agent to iPad or Android
3. Open read.amazon.com/kindle-notebook?ref_=neo_mm_yn_na_kfa
Without changing the user agent, you'll be redirected to the Kindle Scribe FAQs. So the first 2 steps are needed before it works. Maybe Amazon changes it back to being available regularly though, because a couple fo weeks ago it was working just fine with opening it regularly.
what is a user agent switcher for browser? which browser?@@ChalidRaqami
is there a way to just put a passcode/password on a specific notebook?
Not at the moment unfortunately. You can only lock the device as a whole.
How did you acquire this extreme Austrian accent? You are a secret Austrian :D
Step 1: Be born in Austria. Step 2: Be raised in Austria. Step 3: Profit?! ;-)
im here to see the great Hair
After 1 month i dont see any wearing down, maybe i dont press to hard.
It definitely depends on how hard you press on the screen and how much you're writing. If you don't see much wear, that's obviously great and no need to look for alternatives to the regular pen nibs.
No it's not unfounded, titanium nibs aren't recommended. There's no immediate apparent damage to our eyes, but the nib will wear away the top layer of the screen. You just won't notice it right away. It's easier and cheaper to replace the nibs rather than the screen of the device. There's also issues with prolonged use damages the mechanism for pressure sensitivity, which won't destroy the ability altogether, but will increasingly require more pressure to utilize. This isn't new info either, it's been a long standing thing with pen tablets in general since people been trying to minimize or eliminate the need to replace nibs. It's not worth it...
Thanks for the comment! Obviously I can't vouch for a titanium nib not causing any damage. But besides my personal experience, I also did a bit of research on reddit beforehand (concerning Boox & Remarkable) and haven't found a single negative first-hand experience (only people mentioning to be careful) from anyone who had adverse effects in terms of screen wear.
Do you have any info where I can read up on the topic? I'm definitely interested to learn more and potentially doing a follow up.

Even I loaded my PDFs from "send to kindle page"; it did not let me write on PDFs. Any idea?
Whenever I use my pen it acts as finger.
Does that happen with all PDFs? Shouldn't be the case at all, but maybe the file is protected? I haven't encountered the problem before.
