  • Here's how to patch a popular artexed comb pattern...
A short video demonstrating; matching a fan comb Artex drywall texture ceiling pattern. Blend in with the existing textured ceiling using texturing comb tools.
Cut out the damage section and replace with new board
Bring the patch wallboard, or plasterboard, to the same level as the existing ceiling.
Tape up the joints around the patch, and fill out to the level of the existing ceiling, using a firm mixture of drywall texture and a caulker/scraper.
Blend in any overlay of texture / filler into existing texture pattern, using a soft, wet brush or sponge
Seal or prime a larger area around the new boarded patch, so that the texture does not dry off onto the original pattern, whilst working the texture.
Allow sealer or primer to dry completely before attempting to match the pattern back in.
Make sure to use the correct texturing comb tool/s (often known as Artexing combs, in the UK) which created the initial pattern you are attempting to match-in
Available, is the serrated STANDARD comb tool, and a ROSE comb tool which creates a different effect, when drawn through the applied texture compared to the serrated STANDARD comb
It does take a little time and patience just like any new venture we embark upon, but the desired results can be achieved, eventually
    Thank you for watching

gringo90100 'Now you have to pay for massing the crown moulding' (I pressed the wrong button & deleted your comment by mistake, hence this post)
The entire ceiling and moulding are painted afterwards, when all is dry. And any residue of texture is washed off while still wet

I’ve had little luck finding fan texture tools that cover a radius larger than 4 inches.
Any suggestions to find this tool or plaster/drywall tool manufacturers that might offer something comparable?

Maybe too late, Neil but try 'ARTEXING TEXTURING COMB TOOL 250mm' in google or Ebay. Thanks for commenting
