Swirl repair in a water damaged ceiling, I was told to take the ceiling down. It seemed to be a waiste to do that. So I saved the contractor some money with this.
It's an oval stiff tile sponge. I held it up to the existing swirl and marked it the snipped it with sharp scissors with triangle shapes. Made the mud real loose and added concrete fortifier to make sponge slide through easy. And a few years of know how;)
Oh by the way, I used concrete bonder on the patch to keep the finish coat from drying out to fast. The material is diamond veneer plaster with a 3 tablespoons of bonder to half a pan of plaster.
Nice repair justusservices nice ceiling design too, I like the way you do the patchin then you assess it & decide your not happy with it so you fix it until you are, now that is true professionalism
Thats funny, You fixed the other guys work, You did a good job on blending it in. been doing this for 30 years and not but a handfull know how to do this. Good job bro!
Plaster is going away here for the most part. Taping is the cheapest thing. The northern areas and big cities may have more plaster work due to the age of the home. I am speaking of renovation work mainly and repairs. Thats all I do any more, I do have the business I used to since 2008. Good luck!
Daren I was doing so boarding in the loft on a job and put my foot through the ceiling I have repaired the ceiling and I now need to do the ARTEX Deep Swirl Repair CAN YOU SHOW HOW YOU HAVE DONE THE SPONGE PLEASE
Hey i was in the states las week in florida nd i couldnt find any plaster work. Where over there is most of the plastering done and how popular is it over there compared to taping. Over here in the uk its 90/10 plastering to taping.
Thanks for comments, not it's not quick set, I got the ring in Chicago, also a couple tattoos. Oh and the house was a rental and the owner pulled some lint fom his pockets, ha jk. Now helpers are getting the work, so only some people care about what the repairs look like.
While it's nice to show your skill... Could you make the video more useful by showing us what material and tools you used? I How did you prep the area?
Meanwhile the ceiling collapses on the dining room table because of the water damage that was jerry rigged instead of repaired. Im joking man, good job.

Nice, I would've left it at the first try; both looked okay to me: someone who doesn't know would not be able to tell.
