Thanks for this history lesson!
Wish educators would teach lessons in this manner....there would be alot more students interested in history!🙂
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think so too. Teachers that I know (I'm from a family of teachers) say that nowadays teachers are basically given a script to read. That's not teaching. A good teacher has to find a way to connect with each student. :)
In the mid 80’s I had a math teacher that would quote Poor Richard’s almanac almost daily.
He sounds like a smart teacher. I love reading through them. They're fascinating. :)
I greatly enjoy & appreciate these videos -- not just Paul Harvey's story, but the way you so greatly expand the story & give it new life. Thank you so much for this channel.
Thank you very much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the channel. I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. :)
Agreed!
With all that was written about Ben Franklin in history books, it seems that the most interesting facts and stories were left out. That leads me to wonder if the writers deemed those facts as not important or interesting enough, or if they merely didn't know of them. Either way, thankfully, we had people like Paul Harvey who dared to dig a little bit deeper for the fun stuff. Thank you for yet another fascinating history lesson.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know why some stories are printed in books and others left out. The internet has made more historical documents available to us. Before the internet, historians had to physically visit numerous collections in numerous cities to find these historical documents. Then you had to have a reason to see them. Mr. Harvey's son, the writer and creator of "The Rest of the Story," did his research without the aid of computers even after they became readily available. :)
Ben Franklin was not only a true blue American, but a loyal & compassionate person. Being a, inventor, dissenter, & politician was tantamount to his success ! 🤗
That's right. Studying him has always fascinated me. :)
A 12 min video about Ben Franklin and full of facts I'd not heard before. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Benjamin Franklin was such an interesting person. Historians are still learning new things about him all the time. Walter Isaacson published a biography on him simply called "Benjamin Franklin." It's fantastic. :)
It’s Paul Harvey, automatic thumbs up
That's exactly the way I feel. :)
There's a talent out there that could revive The Rest of the Story.
I wish Paul Jr would’ve kept it going. :)
His name is Mike Rowe. He's admitted to writing his book "The Way I Heard It" in the style of Paul's The Rest of the Story.
O-U-T outstanding!!! Learned something very new today; thank you!!! God bless you and yours from me and mine!!! Chuck Knight from Atascocita, Texas. ✝️🎣👨🌾🦌🙏
Thank you very much for the kind words. God bless you too, Chuck. :)
Good one, Brad.
I did quickly think of Benjamin Franklin, but it turns out that I was one generation off! Well shoot me!
I truly miss the old days on the job where we would all be trying to beat each other as to whom he was referring.
Thank you, Brad!
I'm glad this brought back that fond memory. I've heard many people's stories on how they listened to his broadcasts. You're the first to say that they tried to beat each other at guessing. :)
Very apropos for the upcoming 4th of July celebration of our country's independence. Thank you to ALL of our founding father's!
4th of July is one of my favorite holidays because of the meaning behind it. I hope you were able to enjoy the holiday. :)
Great Video and info. Mr. Harvey got me on this one. I didn't know who he was talking about until the end. pretty cool!
Those are the best ones. The ones that keep you guessing. :)
What is up with the algorithm? No notification, this has been up three days and I’m just now seeing it?
C’mon YT, do better.
That is strange. I’ve often wondered how the algorithm works, but that’s way beyond my comprehension. :)
Wonder if Uncle Ben was a good rice grower... LOL!!! I'd DYE if that were the case!!!
Hahahahaha. Each time I said Uncle Ben I thought of the rice commercials. :)
Doesn't everyone love Benjamin Franklin. I wonder what he would think of today's candidates.
I think the Founding Fathers would be ashamed of all politics now adays.
I think the Founding Fathers would revolt.
I didn't realize so many people were Benjamin Franklin fans. hahaha. His museum is simply amazing. Maybe one day I'll do a video where I browse through some of his inventions. I'll add that to the list. :)
@BradDison Well, he did invent the electric kite!
@@davidpawson9047 LOL I think that was Shocking, just shocking!
Thanks for sharing this video 👍🎯😀
I’m very glad you enjoyed it. :)
