- When Whitcomb died, he did so with less than a quiet heart. He had invented numerous things and held numerous patents for items that we still use today. We all remember Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, and Nikola Tesla, but what about Whitcomb Judson? We all use one of his inventions, but few of us have ever heard his name. Find out more about Whitcomb in this episode of Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story."

Mom use to say "Zip your lip!" and at the county fair, "The Zipper" was my favorite ride. And I'm sure that Mr Whitcomb thought this particular invention amounted to nothing, ZIP, zero, nada. But history proved he was wrong.
I loved the zipper ride as well. I haven't been on that ride in ages. Maybe one day I'll ride it again. :)

I think if you stay with this line of reporting/documentation, one day there will be an entire generation of people saying: "Brad Dison! Yeah! I remember him. Didn't he used to have a show about some Paul Harvey fellow?"
Thanks, Brad. Your work is getting consistently better all the time!
Don't forget his researchers too.
@@stevenf1953While I agree that this isn't a one-horse show, it seems to be the nature of the beast that the front man gets the glory. Think about a beautiful building. Most people will remember the architect, but not the workers, and so-on.
As I said, I do agree with your suggestion. Cheers!
@@cotton-Dave I agree completely.
Hahahaha. I doubt that very seriously. But thank you for the kind words. :)
I do all of my own research. That's my true passion. I have a couple of people who help me with the technology side. They do appreciate your thanks. :)
Sounds like a man ahead of his time and a smart man. Thank you, Brad!
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Well done, Brad! We can say that Mr. Judson was destined to be successful, one way or the other - He was a US Veteran, after all! 😎
God bless! ✝
Thank you very much. I always struggle for the way to thank veterans. Just saying "Thank you for your service" doesn't seem like it's enough. God bless you too, my friend. :)
Very cool videos. I’m 61 and learn something new everyday!
Thank you, Mr Dison
I’m glad you enjoyed it. :)
I am proud to say I had no idea about this one. LOL Great job Brad to you and your researchers.
I'm glad to have found one you didn't know. hahaha. Thank you, Steven. :)
Your right..almost forgotten. Thank to Paul Harvey you and me hope they forget
:)
Thank you, Brad, for another Duesey!! I really enjoyed this one! God bless!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. God bless you too, my friend. :)
Indeed, thank you, Mr. Judson, I do not possess the patience in dealing with buttons, anywhere. Undo the top two and slip whatever it is over the head, 'bout as far as I go with them. The zipper is truly a 'Godsend' with me. On a lighter note, "YAY" book number three arrived, having so much fun reading it, Brad. Thank you for all your hard work! Every story is a delight and makes my bus travel "zip" by!!! Hahaha!
I'm glad you're enjoying Volume 3 and it's making your commute more enjoyable. Hearing that made my day. :)
Very cool! I am truly fascinated by small inventions like this that the original inventors, I suspect, could not fully fathom how universally useful nor for how long they would end up being (standard paper clip, staples, pencils, pens, & obviously many, many more) & are likely taken for granted. It’s so sad that Judson never got to see how correct he was about his clasp locker / unlocker. Thank you, Brad!
I agree completely. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
Another example of how persons or places or events that add to our lives get buried & forgotten. Thankful to Mr. Harvey & your added info, Brad, that bring these facts alive. I always learn & appreciate! 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Y K K IS ON EVERY ZIPPER I'VE EVER SEEN 🤔
I think I've noticed that, too! Hmmm?
Me too. :)
YKK stands for Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha. It is a Japanese company that is now the world's largest manufacturer of zippers.
Oh that’s cool, I also noticed that!
How come they com they are not used on shoes?Im tired of always tying up my shoe laces that come undone
Oh, they did, at one time, especially short boots for men!
My wife has several pairs of shoes with zippers. I've had a couple of pairs in my lifetime but that was a long time ago. :)
@@BradDison Ive had shoes with velcro
China now makes most of our zippers !!!
And that's why some of them work so poorly!
Exactly !@@2puffs770
Wow.
