I remember when I would go out into my shop on Saturdays just before noon and turn on the local country station, just to listen to Paul Harvey. Every single time it was awesome. Sometimes I had work to do, sometimes I didn't. But I always listened.

I was at the game when he hit his first American homerun a high lite of my life Cleveland stadium.

Two voices that I wish were still with us today Paul Harvey & Rush Limbaugh . I feel fortunate to have lived while they were still with us.

Yeah, that was a childhood favorite, especially Wint-o-green flavor. My A1C prevents me from indulging in anything sweet these days, but I do have fond memories! Thanks for the story!

As a child, in the 50's, 8 rolls of Lifesavers in a book-shaped package were perennial Christmas gifts. Thanks Brad.

Back in the sixties I remember getting ready for school while my mom was getting ready for work, the radio was playing on the huge radio/sterio cabinet in the living room. And then Paul Harvey would come on. We'd both stop and listen (And usually laugh at the end). Then continue rushing around to get ready. Off topic, but it reminded me, how many remember listening/watching on TV for school closings. I swear you always had to watch that whole long lust 4-5 time between the commercials right before your schools letter, (it would keep going during the ad), or your mom yelling to keep getting ready in case it was open. And the last time was to show your mom that it really was there.

That's one of those things that's been around so long I've never even thought about how they started! BTW, Brad, I've finished your three Remember This books. Absolutely loved them!

Awesome, info Brad. Older now and just don't eat them anymore. I always thought they were good for a lightly sore throat. I loved lifesavers. but then who didn't. I like the 5 flavored ones myself.

As kids, we got a Lifesavers Story Book every Christmas. Pep-O-Mint was my favorite, so I traded with my brother and sister since they both preferred the fruit flavors. To this day I keep a bag of them in my truck for breath fresheners and for a little Pep on longer trips (pardon the pun). Thanks for this tasty tidbit of history.

My husband used to be a truck driver. I rode with him on a run to Holland Michigan over 30 years ago to deliver to a Lifesavers plant. They made Butter Rum Lifesavers. ONLY Butter Rum Lifesavers. The smell permeated the entire building. That plant closed down years ago, though; production was moved to Montreal Quebec.
