In this latest episode of The Road to Emmaus, Scott Hahn interviews Fr. Dave Tomaszycki, compiler and editor of Archbishop's Fulton Sheen's newest book, On the Demonic.
Although the late Fulton Sheen spoke of writing a book about the demonic in 1974, he never completed the work. Nearly fifty years later, Fr. Dave has successfully gathered and compiled all of Fulton Sheen's work on the topic into one complete book!
In the episode, Scott Hahn and Fr. Dave discuss Fulton Sheen's impact on the modern Church, his deep and rich prayer life, and the contents and messages of the book. They also talk about how much of this book was not only relevant in his day, but how it is even more relevant and necessary in the modern world.

One day I hope you do a whole show, or series, on Archbishop Fulton Sheen.
My neighbor's Catholic school class was required to write a paragraph on the subject of his show as proof they watched it daily.
His show had higher views than Milton Berle's show that aired at the same time..
He'd have made a wonderful pope..
      in my very humble opinion.

About 8 years ago I stumbled upon a Fr. Fulton Sheen throwback video on CZcams. It sparked an interest in the Catholic faith. As a lifelong Protestant I was taught that Catholics are wrong and not Christians, yet This video pried open the door and God blessed me the grace to pursue more info. I can definitively say that I am Catholic in my heart tho not yet a member of the church although I do attend Mass at my local parish.

Oh, bless you! Catholic channels get so many posted comments from angry Protestants who have such wrong ideas about the Church. I often wonder how many of them got their religious education in childhood from Jack Chick comic books. They are deeply convinced and only God's Divine Grace will soften their hearts.

Dear Father Dave Tomaszycki! 🙏🏻 I met him the day he returned to the parish where he had served as a seminarian intern, returned to celebrate Mass as a newly ordained priest. I was living elsewhere when he served as a seminarian, so I hadn't got to meet him then. But I had just moved back into the Port Huron parish of my childhood when he came to celebrate that Mass. I don't recall if it was his first Mass as a newly ordained priest -- the Archbishop gives the newly ordained the choice of where to celebrate their first through however many Masses before they are sent to their new parish assignments. I think it's 2 or 3 Masses, one each at the parishes that helped to form them into the priestly life. Anyway, Father Tomaszycki struck me particularly as strong against the devil, carrying the strength of Jesus with him wherever he went. I'm not the only one who noticed these feelings or this presence, so I'm not saying I was having a unique mystical experience. I received a blessing from him that day, my first time receiving a blessing from a newly ordained priest, so it was pretty special. I've been holding God to the promise of that blessing ever since, that is, I'm reminding myself that I am strengthened by the blessing of God through His servant, Father Tomaszycki, in a particular way. And I've been praying for Father ever since, especially that he stand firm in Christ through all onslaughts of the devil. He returned to our parish again that summer to fill in when the Pastor _In Solidum_ was on vacation, and that's the last time I've seen him. I did notice his name in the news, at least Catholic news, and am very pleased to see that he was appointed Priest Secretary to Archbishop Allen Vigneron. It's fitting that he is also serving on weekends at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, given the strength of Our Lady under this title in combating the devil. Father Dave is nothing special without Jesus, may God bless him for making himself a conduit for our Lord in this world. He's in my daily prayers, and I'm also stopping right now to pray 3 Hail Marys for his intentions 🌹🌹🌹🙏🏻✝️ and also for Dr. Scott Hahn and the St. Paul Institute 🌹🌹🌹🙏🏻✝️

I found Archbishop Futon Sheen on CZcams 2 years ago. I have broken a relationship on the idolatries coming from the political left. I didn’t know that at first. I fond a book with his face on it in a dusty thrift shop in Olathe, Kansas. So, I knew he was trying to speak to me after I found that book. I’ve bought 2 of his books since. The book of communism is so powerful I can only take the book in increments because how powerful his explanations are. That is when I knew that we all have been fooled. Thank you, and I love that you’re giving memorial to this man. I think he should be nominated as saint that fights objective philosophers.

Scott Hahn is similar in that approach as are others. Yes, we must be serious about being good Catholic Christians, but we also must help bring about the Kingdom with a lightheartedness that expresses the joy associated with what's ahead. IMHO, that is what true fulfillment of the Kingdom is all about! Laughter and soaring high on Eagle's Wings! Oh the thought of it makes me love our God even more!! ❤😊

We are to hate the sin, live the sinner as God does, but we we need to go to a priest even if sins are venial, to gain grace and strength to avoid mortal sin. Exorcist Fr. Ripperger recently mends regular scheduled prayer, like the Angelus ay 6-12 -6 to draw folks who have been lax & mired in mortal sin back to God and spiritual safety, away from the devil’s lures.

    • @raquelwall-xm2kw
      @raquelwall-xm2kw Před 12 dny

@@veev2561 Where is the sacrament of confession in the Bible?
As soon as Jesus rose from the dead and earned salvation for us, he brought his apostles a new gift. After speaking peace to them, he said, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you” (John 20:21). Just as Jesus was sent by the Father to reconcile the world to God, Jesus sent the apostles to continue his mission.
Jesus then breathed on the apostles. This is a verse that is often passed over, but it has extraordinary significance because it is only the second time in all of Scripture where God breathes on anyone. The other instance was at the moment of creation, when God breathed his own life into the nostrils of Adam. This should tell us that something of great importance is taking place. Upon doing this, Jesus said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained” (John 20:22-23).
Notice that Jesus is not simply commissioning the apostles to preach about God’s forgiveness. He is not saying, “Go tell everyone that when God forgives men’s sins, they’re forgiven.” In using the second person plural you, Jesus is telling his apostles that by the power of the Holy Spirit he has given them the power to forgive and retain the sins of men. Having the power to forgive and to retain sins implies that the apostle knows what a person’s sins are, which in turn implies oral confession. Otherwise, how is the apostle to know what to retain or forgive?
In the same way that Jesus gave his apostles other supernatural powers (such as raising men from the dead), he gave them power to absolve sins (raising them from spiritual death). In Matthew 9, we read that Jesus forgave a paralytic and then healed him so “that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins” (Matt. 9:6)
After he exercised this power as a man, the crowds glorified God for having given “such authority to men” (Matt. 9:8, emphasis added). Notice that Matthew indicates this power to forgive sins had been given to men, and not simply to a man.

On this topic, I would like to take a moment to warn parents and grandparents out there about a song that is being promoted as a "nurse rhyme" called Johnny Johnny Yes Papa.
The lyrics are: Johnny Johnny? Yes, Papa. Eating Sugar? No, Papa. Telling lies? No, Papa. Open your mouth (revealing evidence that sugar was indeed being consumed). Ha, Ha, Ha.
This song has several variations on almost every kid show, including the very popular show Cocomelon. In every iteration, the character caught in a lie merely laughs at being caught.
Is it so far fetched that the father of lies would introduce a nursey rhyme teaching children to lie, that lies aren't a big deal, and that lies are fun?

The devil's 'I am who am not' reminds me of a final line of The Usual Suspects: 'The greatest trick Satan ever worked was to convince people he didn't exist.' An preparatory trick was to get us to represent him as as the red, horned beast... which of course no rational person would believe in.

How important this book is at this time.
Our country is so divided right now.
It clearly lets you know who is trying to be in charge!
Jesus is always in charge. Though He loves us enough to allow us to have free will.
The culture is truly demonic and people are beginning to wake-up to it.
I believe that people are wholeheartedly starting to realize that God has been missing in their lives and are now intentionally seeking Him!
    God bless America! 🙏

I love Fulton Sheen. I am fortunate to be old enough to remember him when he still lived among us. His amazing intelligence allowed him to see through all the smoke and mirrors and then to communicate the Faith so successfully. He obviously knew that words matter. Words have consequences. It is no coincidence that Jesus is the WORD of God.
When it comes to contraception, Scott gets it right… Father not so much. The Catholic Church is not opposed to birth control, She is opposed to contraception. Humana vitae is subtitled “on controlling births”. In it, Pope Paul VI teaches that only the married couple has the right to regulate births. That is to control births. But, he says, that there is a licit and an illicit way to control births. Parents have the responsibility of determining how many children they are able to support. The church calls parents to be generous, but she does not call them to be reckless. There are serious and legitimate reasons at times to limit or postpone having children. What the church is against is contraception. Contraception literally means “against conception”. Natural Family Planning is so named because it conforms to the Natural Law., not because it is “natural” as in versus artificial. So many people get this wrong! Coitus interruptus is 100% “Natural“ and it is also 100% mortality sinful. Anything one does to actively prevent conception is contraceptive and sinful. This is an important distinction..
The other thing which father Dave brings up (Fr. is not the only one who repeats) is the concept that Cain didn’t offer the best of his produce. Go back and read it. Read it again. No where does it intimate that Cain gave inferior produce/grain/fruit. One offers sacrifice as a sin offering/atonement. The Bible is very explicit, as Dr. Hanh has often pointed out, that atonement for sin requires the spilling of blood. One can offer vegetables/wheat/bread/oil as thanksgiving, but not as atonement.

Connecting all the dots of Salvation...I Love this interview/discussion, involving the writings of Bishop Sheen. He is a favorite of mine, since I was but a small child. To me with his purple cape, he was the Superman of The Trinity, with Jesus and Mary, with St. Joseph,as well, depicting their Fiats/roles in our Salvation/ Refuge... and Satan and the deception he truly is, that constantly tries to lead us astray, however, Holy Mary was given The Power; by God , Our FATHER, The Wisdom; by God The Son, and Love and Mercy; by God The Holy Spirit, to turn us around, with this Grace, to defeat the devil, and Lead us through the Narrow Gate, if individually, we so choose..that Line in the sand, where we Choose; Excellence/Christ over Evil/ Satan. Jesus does't put anyone into Hell, where you live, isolated...You put yourself in Hell...and Throughput eternity, you Hate Yourself, because of Your Choice

Can never understand why anyone would go to the "new" Mass knowing that it was composed by a Freemason Annibale Bugnini and Six Protestant ministers. The Novus Odor Mass shows it's fruit by having Seventy Three Percent of the parisheners not believing in the real presence of the Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist. Recommend listening to Father Malachi Martin's video called Catholicism Dethroned, made thirty-five years ago. Prayer and Penance.

My understanding is you pray as you can. An hour of Adoration is the stated goal but no less prizes given if you only can go a few minutes a day, or a full hour more than once in awhile. Adoration time is usually not phrased as part of holy mass. Those are different forms of prayers. 65 years of faithful Catholicism backs that answer. Others may give you different responses. Montini said, there is the style of the rites. This appears to
“conspire to impede understanding” of the liturgy for modern man who desires
extreme intelligibility. Again, corruption of the primitive ideal, and the
    Fog Curtain.
Montini warns against excluding modern man from the “inner spiritual
precincts” of the Sacred Liturgy. We must therefore “transform the difficulty
    posed by the liturgical rite.”

@@TheGringoSalado Not a sophist my friend, but when someone uses the name "Montini" rather than Pope Paul VI one could legitimately come to the conclusion of a Sede mindset. So step out and look at your statement from how one would understand it.
So the Seat is filled but many bad popes. Ok, you say I am a sophist. Let my try to engage your position with some questions.
Are you perhaps one of those groups that since Vatican II has moved from the straight Sede position to one of Sedeprivationism. That is the Popes since Vatican II are the Pope in the Formal sense but the Church is in a static mode and all Popes since Vatican II can't teach anything authoritatively . Therefore, only when a Vatican III is called to clean up Vatican II can a future Pope once again exercise the Papal Magisterium.
Yes there have been not so good Popes among the 267 who held the Chair in Rome (Bishop of Rome). Many who were Pope were not nor will ever be canonized Saints. That to me shows the promise Christ made to Saint Peter (MT 16:18) that the gates of hell will not prevail, and that God is in charge even when there is a not so good Pope.
      Cheers

@@PalermoTrapani good questions here. One can’t ignore the obvious issues in church leadership today. I do not find it reasonable to hold that to be Catholic today is to mimic Protestants. The NO is objectively speaking a Protestant service (which I do attend). It veils sacrifice, it encourages irreverence for the body, places laity on the same level as Priests, and orients mass away from God. This does not hold to tradition, contradicts countless Pope’s and intellectually leads to indifferentism and the nihilism we see in the west. Prayers for you and yours in these times. 🙏

The lamp of the body is the eye...
Everything you see with your eyes will enter your heart. If you want God in your life, if you desire to live in righteousness and truth and choose to do good and serve the Lord, you will have Godly eyes and will have a good heart.
If you have good eyes of love and mercy to see the needs of the the poor, if you care for the sick, for the hungry, for the lonely, if you pardon and pray for sinners and see their need for God for the forgiveness of their sins, and for their conversion and salvation, if you seek only what's good for your neighbor, then your body will be filled with light and of the Holy spirit.
But if your eyes are bad, evil will enter your heart. If you have adulterous eyes you'll commit adultery either with your heart or with your whole body. If you have greedy eyes you could become a thief.
If you love evil, you will have no fear of God. And the devil will always give you strength to do evil things against God and against your neighbors. Also if you love evil, if you despise the poor, and the hungry, and disrespect the elderly, you will become merciless and your heart be filled with cruelty.
If you don't want God in your life your body will be in great darkness because no one will stop you from sinning. Only God can set you free from slavery of sin.
Those who love evil and choose to live in darkness and sin are under God's curse.
Choose not to be among God's enemies.
Choose not to be among the devil's servants. Those who trust in the Lord will never be put to shame. Those who choose to serve the Lord are children of light because they do what is right and just.
