The MV has a wonderful sounding sampling engine and the unit offers a great LoFi-processor to replicate older samplers.
A lot of MV-users want to get that special E-MU SP-1200 sound.
Based on a video of the DayDream Sound I created an MFX for the MV-8800.
Let's see if this is what you're looking for....

00:22 Clean Beat
00:50 The 12-bit Artefacts
01:31 Same Beat with FX
01:47 Edit Noise Suppressor
03:00 Edit the Filter
03:52 Edit the BitRate
05:20 Sampling with the FX
06:52 Comparing sample clean and FX

Thanks to @TheDaydreamSound for the video of the SP-1200 where you can hear that typical SP-1200 sound.

Great video. The SP1200 has lower quality ADDA converters than its Akai counter part the MPC60. Part of the way you get the SP1200 sound is based on pitching. If you speed the sample up to 45 and pitch it down in the sampler you will start to get the artifacts. On other machines you can add the lo fi filters after you pitch the sample and it will start to sound close to an SP. The filter alone won't do it.
Thanks 🙌🏾
And thank you for dropping a comment!
Thank you so much.
Done with a lot of pleasure! Take your advance with it!
There are two filters for that legendary 12 bit sound and those are the “LO FI” filter and the “Old Sampler” filter
sounds like that Craig Mack 'flavor in your ear' sample
You're totally right, Joe! Sounds really like that awesome track.
@@theMIDImaniacit is impossible to get sp1200 sound in the 8800!!!
@@theMIDImaniacsounds great though!
Not really @hazeentertainmenthiphop
🔥
🙏thanks!
May Yahweh bless you brother we love you and your channel 🙏
Let's gooooooooooooooooo.
Oooh yeeeaaaaahhhh! :D :D :D
👍🥳🍾
Rog 🙏thanks again for vids …. Do u do a video on using the bpm sync on a sample as I’m struggling …. As when I assign to an audio phrase it goes back to the original tempo annoyingly … cheers me dears
Great suggestion. Let me make time for it.
You have to resample.
@@WaxDat8800 That's indeed the only correct answer.
@lizer69: You have to resample the sample with the wished BPM otherwise it will stay on the original BPM. Works very easy, like this!
I don't have a MV8800 but from listening to your example I think the FX on this machine seem to be not as bad as most LoFi VSTs. Would be interesting to hear how the MV sound when you create the artifacts manually (without any FX) by resample a pitched sample (something like + 2 or 3 octaves).
Thanks for the suggestion.
Did it today and the artefacts were not there.
Tried +1 +2 +3 +4 +5.
With +5 the sample was still okay. Not that old school sampler effect.
Was great to try it. Not worth a video because of the result, though.
@@theMIDImaniac Ok, didn't expect that. I thought (at least at +3 octaves) it would create aliasing. My MPC2000 can only pitch/tune a sample +- 2 octaves. I sometimes sample stuff that I pitch on my PC +2 octaves into the MPC and get nice aliasiing.
@@peterpiper0815 the mv does color the sound just different it don't add the ring like sound but it remove highs when pitched up then backdown
Is there any way to stop the VGA screen scrolling in pattern mode ? It's moving even if the pattern is 1/4 of the screen it's impossible to edit while playing which is a shame.
How do you spread a sample across 88 keys toned like the asr 10?
Can you help me? I have a problem with the sound output volume, it’s too low. In the mastering section, the input is very high but the compressor makes it low. I turned up to max all knobs I could but that doesnt solve the problem 🙏🏻
Now I’m thinking. Turn off the compressor and see what happens.
Or you can just sample your sp 1200 into your MV like I do... 👍🏼
Yeah, if you have one lol
@@treangle was about to comment the same 🤣
The thing is that the lofi effect is just an effect. The SP has a sound all it's own plus the sequencer and the filtered and un filtered outputs pitching up the samples etc is what the SP sound is. But most people won't care or know.👍🏼
@@customerservice9602 of course you’re right.
It’s like playing arcade games on a computer. It’s a simulation.
The real deal is always better.
I’ve rebuild and arcade machine with the original screen. No lcd can beat that 😉

@@theMIDImaniac I got my OG SP 1200 re issue in the 90's used when they were still reasonably priced. They SP is great with the SP 808 too.
