The Suzuki Swift supermini is a rival to the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa.
With tidy handling, smart looks and impressive equipment levels, it has a strong following.
We tested the 1.2-litre petrol with a healthy 93bhp and average economy of 56.5mpg.
Can the Swift really tackle models like the Ford Fiesta? Watch our video review above to find out, or skip to bits of key information using the links below:

I have one, best buy ever. Love the deeper boot. What makes it beyond impressive is the fact that can handle the South African terrain. It actually out does the ford fiesta which falls apart rather quickly, as it is not really built for our sort of environment.
Sir. It is now Jan 2020. I have just viewed this post - awesome review by you! You're a natural...you were clear & deliberate with your comments. I have subscribed.
I got the 2016, duel jet 1.2 petrol SZ4 and love it. very efficient and if you use the revs can accelerate well enough. plus the gadgets are cool
I just bought a brand new sx4 model! So excited :D
Love the car. In Asia we Have a 1.3 liter engine with slightly different looks. Overall a good car.
i have the 2014 its nice and comfortable
SZ3 great little car cheap tax cheap insurance good mpg nice looker in white superb had 3 Swifts never had a problem SZ3 packs in a lot for the money cant go wrong love mine
Got my 2013 Swift with x-ite and a motor tuning. 160hp and it's awesome
Also it's Japanese so will last donkeys years more than the ford fiesta.
MarkasHD Isn’t it assembled in Hungary though?
Michael Martinović Your right It probably doesn’t make a difference I just like to consider every aspect on a car
I don't get how the Suzuki's 1.2 93bhp engine can be any worse than the Fiesta's 1.25 81bhp...
The new swifts out later this year, had mine for a month now love ❤ the swift got it in red of course 😎
The most reliable small car made 2010 to 2015 according to a 2021 what car ?reliability survey.

Were you headed to the Ace Cafe after this? You're sporting a "Rocker" look from the '60s here... Anyway, I have a 2015 Swift here in India but the 1.2 litre engine (the only petrol engine available) here was detuned from 87 bhp to 83 bhp in the interest of fuel economy. It's low end is weak, midrange is just OK but the top end is quite lively. Most users swear by its refinement at high revs and all are unanimous in stating that it is the top end of the car that is the place to be if you want to have fun. Looks like even with more peak power in the UK the power delivery characteristics are the same as we get.
1.5 automatic with kickdown, best car ive ever had!
It's definitely a winner Doc! Favourite feature?
Favourite feature of my car is the kickdown, helps alot on the highway :>
£1000 less than the Ford Fiesta...... and 1000x more reliable
This car with 92bhp struggles? and yet Ford fiesta with 60bhp is a better car? Yeah right!!!!
+Sam R I think he compate it to the turbocharged 1,0 liter Fiesta with 100 bhp. That car has a lot more torque. I like the Swift, but it is true, that its engine lacks torque. Even other non-turbocharged engines in the segment like Hyundai 1,25 liter Kappa engine and PSA´s 1,2 liter 3-cylinder feel much more punchy below 3.000 RPM, where you spend most of your time in normal mixed driving.
So for me the Swift is a fun car to drive, and I think the new generation is better looking than ever. But the engine really is the weak point of the package. The new Dualjet version with a high compression ration does have impressive fuel economy though.
+SuperSayanFitness are you aware of the fact that the 100bhp fiesta is a lot more expensive than the base model? and is of course more expensive than the 92bhp swift?

Same car,mine definitely doesent struggle
211 litre boot that is a deal breaker, my previous Hyundai i10 had 210 litres, and that it's from a smaller class, in this class should be 280 minimum
They don't sell a diesel anymore
I bought one last year , but turns out mine is the Indian model . So I have maruti Suzuki Swift and have rust spots regularly that I have to treat
picking up my SZ4 tomorrow :p
How is the car so far?
How is it?
@@hamnam7 had the car for a few years, it was a comfortable drive but the turning circle sucks
@@Asewitt how did you find the power on the car for overtaking, I'm assuming it'll be okay as long as you rev it up?
I like it more than I like my honda fit .
I'm saving up 😎

Yup...
Hyundai vs Maruti Suzuki
Which one is better, KIA RIO or Suzuki Swift?
Joko ASP The Swift is slightly more fun to drive, but the Rio is definitly the better alrounder in my opinion. It has a better range on engines, more space in the cabin, a must bigger boot and a longer warrenty. But why not just try both of them yourself and see, which one give you the "take me home" factor?
Thanks :)
To even compare Japanese Suzuki and a European Ford is ridiculous considering the canyon of durability and quality between the two...
It Dosent go very quick
Neither does a Fiesta or Corsa... I mean, they've both got slower engines and are heavier...
Am 18 and doing my driving test and I want a Suzuki swift but I hope it goes quick anough on a moterway
@@jackssstaylor7438 get the manual. The automatic doesn't accelerate as fast.
