    The Suzuki Swift supermini is a rival to the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa.
    With tidy handling, smart looks and impressive equipment levels, it has a strong following.
    We tested the 1.2-litre petrol with a healthy 93bhp and average economy of 56.5mpg.
    Can the Swift really tackle models like the Ford Fiesta? Watch our video review above to find out, or skip to bits of key information using the links below:

    I have one, best buy ever. Love the deeper boot. What makes it beyond impressive is the fact that can handle the South African terrain. It actually out does the ford fiesta which falls apart rather quickly, as it is not really built for our sort of environment.

    Were you headed to the Ace Cafe after this? You're sporting a "Rocker" look from the '60s here... Anyway, I have a 2015 Swift here in India but the 1.2 litre engine (the only petrol engine available) here was detuned from 87 bhp to 83 bhp in the interest of fuel economy. It's low end is weak, midrange is just OK but the top end is quite lively. Most users swear by its refinement at high revs and all are unanimous in stating that it is the top end of the car that is the place to be if you want to have fun. Looks like even with more peak power in the UK the power delivery characteristics are the same as we get.

  • @samr1321

    This car with 92bhp struggles? and yet Ford fiesta with 60bhp is a better car? Yeah right!!!!

    • @fundiver198
      @fundiver198 Před 8 lety +1

      +Sam R I think he compate it to the turbocharged 1,0 liter Fiesta with 100 bhp. That car has a lot more torque. I like the Swift, but it is true, that its engine lacks torque. Even other non-turbocharged engines in the segment like Hyundai 1,25 liter Kappa engine and PSA´s 1,2 liter 3-cylinder feel much more punchy below 3.000 RPM, where you spend most of your time in normal mixed driving.
      So for me the Swift is a fun car to drive, and I think the new generation is better looking than ever. But the engine really is the weak point of the package. The new Dualjet version with a high compression ration does have impressive fuel economy though.

    Which one is better, KIA RIO or Suzuki Swift?

    • @fundiver198
      @fundiver198 Před 9 lety +2

      Joko ASP The Swift is slightly more fun to drive, but the Rio is definitly the better alrounder in my opinion. It has a better range on engines, more space in the cabin, a must bigger boot and a longer warrenty. But why not just try both of them yourself and see, which one give you the "take me home" factor?
