    The more research I do, the more this truck impresses me. Nissan really did some homework, they had a few bugs to workout in the beginning. Now it is a solid bullet proof truck. Not the prettiest one but I’m not buying for looks alone.

      Personally I think Nissan went overboard with the looks. They paid attention to all the small details that are often overlooked by the big three. Have to remember Nissan usually has to pack their vehicles with features just to keep up with competition.

    Thanks for the review Joe. I bought a new 2017 Titan XD Pro 4x diesel in late March and it's my third Titan but my first diesel...all the others were gas 4x4 crew cabs...with long beds ;)
    I love the truck. Pulls my 24' boat down the highway and doesn't know it's there. It gets much better fuel mileage than my gas trucks do and so far does everything that I wanted this truck to do.

      Louiesboys no...no they won’t. Gas engines don’t hold a candle to Diesel engines. Not to mention these take a single tune to raise the horsepower by 140 and torque by the same relative percentage. So you are looking at an easy 450hp with 650-750 ftlbs of torque at the end of the day. Also the way diesels make power is at 1500 with a flat torque curve up to 4K rpms. You can’t even get close with a gas engine till you get to 5500+ rpm. This means when you tow you will burn hellish amounts of fuel and your transmission will take a fucking beating from having to gear down constantly. Genius bud.. genius

    Thank you for actual detailed specifications on this truck. This is the most helpful review. Knowing the source manufacturers of the truck's components says a lot more than just comparing it to other trucks. They're all nice and comfy and perform well in the first 10k miles. One thing I would like to hear is fuel efficiency. That is the one thing that can validly be compared to other trucks. Diesel is a no-brainer for me but many people need to hear the MPG to justify the cost over a new gas motor, even though anyone who tows should know they want all their power at under 2000RPM, not 3500-4000.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  Před 5 lety

      18 highway and 15 city is what people are getting in the real world with the Nissan. GMC/Chevy are the best at about 1 mpg better, Ford is the same as Nissan. Dodge gets about 14 highway and 11 city but can handle more weight.

    Words can’t emphasize how much I loved this review! Great job representing the company that builds the best Diesel engines in the world. I want one so bad it’s not even funny. The thing that you forgot to mention was that they aren’t getting the mileage of old ones due to its emissions is near zero which no other Diesel engine can say: ford power stroke duramax cat Detroit no one. The only thing I would have to ask is simply if you have that transmission in the pick up truck could you upgrade anything on the engine to upgrade to make the towing pounds higher? Overall loved this review and I’m saving up right now!!!!

    Always remember that every buyer will use their truck in different ways, so your application only applies to you. That's why any truck can be the worst choice for some, while being the best choice for others. It all depends on what you're doing with it. Personally, I'm shopping for a truck to haul a pop-up cab-over camper, which will weigh about 1500 lbs fully loaded. I won't be towing too often if at all, but I might decide to carry a small motorcycle on a hitch carrier (not a trailer). I also plan on doing a significant amount of remote camping, requiring off-roading prowess. It's plenty capable and is more compact than a heavy duty truck, allowing for better off-road maneuvering. I think this Titan XD Pro4x is just about perfect for my needs.

      @everycarSeattle  Před 5 lety

      I've said it a million times Mark...if dealers would pay a small slice of the service income a salespersons's deal generates, salespeople would never leave, they'd make a quality living and they'd refine their craft. Instead, they make two to five hundred bucks 12 times a month working 70 hours a week and dealers hope they'll master their craft. That being said, even the teenager at Baskin Robbins can name all 31 flavors and they make minimum wage.

    I bought one of theses a few weeks ago and it’s a really nice truck, hadn’t had a diesel since a merc sprinter and iveco in Europe 20 years back, but one question, what the heck is going on with the throttle response, sometimes 3 of 4 seconds before it comes on tap and starts to move and then it really goes, but in the wet it let’s go because it suddenly drops a gear as everything finally spools up, also slowing down turning and applying throttle to pull away takes several seconds, it feels like it’s not connected, I stopped in at my local Wesley Chapel Dealership’s service bay, the first guy said hold on a moment and sprinted away, never to be seen again, the girl at the second desk just kept looking at me like I had 2 heads or something, I tried to communicate with her but she obviously wasn’t from the same planet, so after standing there for around 5 minutes being completely ignored despite my attempts at basic communication I decided it probably wasn’t the smartest place to even take my truck.
    Anyway I’m doing some research and if anyone has anything I’m happy to listen, it’s a 2017 55k and completely standard, shifts smoothly tows my 8500lbs trailer 50% of time and averages 14.3 mpg, but there is definitely something missing between my right foot and the engine, thanks guys.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  Před 4 lety

      Individual dealers are as different as night and day working on these trucks since there's nothing else like them in their product line and they might not have proper technicians for them. It sounds almost like a software issue which may take some looking into. However, the first thing I'd look into is which Nissan dealer in your town can competently work on these. Second, I would ask them about a Nissan extended warranty to add a few years more of worry free driving.

But then again you can't get a LBZ anymore. Aside from GM other 3/4 tons have shitty transmissions, and 1 tons are overkill. The Titan is a nice step up from a 1500. My platinum reserve tows heavier load over 12000. I tug a 7,380 lbs 24 foot boat trailer combined. And it doesn’t hesitate one bit. And it also stops well under load. I fix vehicles in auto body and have been into all the brands. Not impressed with other makes. Except the GM new frame coatings dipped in tank coated inside and out. But Chevy full of parts made in China and Mexico, Ford is all Canadian parts and Dodge most parts Mexico. The titan had parts stamped made in USA. Couldn’t believe my eyes.

      My original comment was a reach out to decide how much I would be comfortable towing. I am a full time rver. I currently tow a 30 foot tow trailer. I am looking to buy a new camper. Because I want to stay at 30 feet or less the weight will sort of take care of itself. I am now looking at toy haulers. They tend to be a Little heavier. Also 5th wheels tow better but are heavier. I want to buy my very last camper I am 69 years old. I want to make a good decision. I will be attending the rv super show in Tampa. And driving the salesmen crazy but today it's all about me and what I want. Any. Real experience and not. Uninformed opinions are welcomed. I will be looking at 32 feet or less 8,000 lbs or less. At this point price takes care of its self. Sort of.i also would welcome any thoughts on the puck system 5th wheel hitch. To all fellow rv ers travel safe. Robert

    It would be the perfect half ton truck if it had half ton specs. It has the power of 3/4 tons from a decade ago with the weight of todays 3/4 tons. It weighs over 7,000 lbs. Nissan screwed up massively with this truck. Sales, or lack thereof will prove it. If that truck as configured weighed 6300 lbs it would be perfect. A 7200 lb truck with 5500 lb truck capacities. Useless. And if all those drivetrain parts are so good why spec it so low? Give it a 3,000 lb payload and 18,000 lb towing.

      This is a half ton truck that they beefed up with the best parts. It is meant for towing 10000 and under and being a daily driver as well. The long wheel base and weight keep you from getting blown all over the road like with the ram 1500 or ford f150. It is a souped up half ton meant for towing and longevity. It's not meant for drag races and not meant to get the super best fuel economy. What's so hard to understand here? This competes against half ton trucks not 3/4.

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  Před 5 lety +1

      That sums it up perfectly. People are always going to be sensitive whenever an import truck tries to wedge its way into the domestic truck scene. I think Nissan simply wanted to make a full size that was more truck with less fluff.

    man, why can't anyone build an SUV with the same quality of parts as this truck and have the same reliability for a vehicle as a whole as toyota and also be fast?
    i like SUV's more than trucks. it's just my thing. reliability for jeep overall isn't too good. toyota's new 4runners are slow. ford SUV's can't go offroad as well as the toyota's and jeeps. range rovers are super expensive. i don't think subaru SUV's look very cool. some other manuracturers SUV's dont have that rugged look like jeeps and the new 4runner trd's. like a porsche cayenne is a pretty decent offroad vehicle. it's a nice vehicle. but it's high luxury, fast and it's a porsche and outside my price range.
    i wish toyota made a 4runner with a v8 option or a turbo option for stock.
    haha, maybe i want to change my expectations. i want an SUV that has some decent speed, reliability, good offroad, looks cool and rugged and isn't high end luxury.

    First, I must say Joe that was a fuck n awesome review man. Kudos you nailed it!
    REAL TALK - I own a 2017 Nissan Titan 5.6 gas model SV (loaded) and I can tell you the engine and transmission shifts like they are from the 1990's.
    I wanted to love this truck but I have been waiting for Nissan to fix my truck from nearly 2 months and they say they are aware of the problem but don't have a fix...
    Yeah, exactly! Imagine buying a 46k truck and the company (Nissan) says oh yep we know about that issue but that's not stopping us from selling them to suckers like you. I want to note that my Nissan Consumer Care "Lady" I got assigned with has failed to call me back more then one occasion. Oh shit, actually she didn't call me back last week when I called either....Hmmmm...
    I would highly recommend looking at other 1/2 trucks. I would not invest another cent in a Nissan vehicle and I am currently looking to trade it in for a TUNDRA or RAM..
    There are other issues but thats the most major but others include:
    1.Terrible Amounts of Vibration
    2.Poor Quality of Materials and Workmanship (dash, seats,etc)
    3.Hood not lined up properly.
    4. Shutter in rear end when you stop
    Let me stop there cause I at this point I am getting mad....

      The Nissan store here is about to get a gas Titan in stock and I was going to do a review for it, but your first hand review might be more informative. I'm a HUGE fan of the Tundra but haven't driven a Titan gas so I don't know how it compares. If Toyota would simply bridge the gap and make a diesel of their own, they might do some real damage to the Big 3. That all being said, it's a bummer all that you are going through with your truck but thank you very much for letting everyone know.

      I know its been a while since these were posted but I have to comment because you just wrote my entire dealings with Nissan in a nut shell. I purchased my first new vehicle, '17 Frontier SV 4x4 and have experienced many of the same things you have.
      First off, I dropped a valve at 4k miles. 4k! The transmission feels ancient, I was just telling someone that, not to mention probably the least efficeint v6 in its class..They replaced my engine over the course of 3 months and were going to leave it at that. I filed a claim for diminished value, 2 more months go by and they finally offered a cash settlement and gold warranty. Those are nice, but it was like pulling teeth dealing with them.
      I can personally attest that my Frontier rattles like crazy, especially for a '17. It does not shift smoothly nor does the engine rev smoothly, NOR DOES IT GET DECENT GAS MILAGE. My mid size stock truck gets worse gas mileage than a jacked up v8 full size. 16mpg. what a laugh. I truly thought it would improve with time like the rattles but they remained the same.
      New engine is running fine, no issues mechanically but man I'm right there with ya it feels like a cheap truck! Jealous of my dad's Tundra!

      Seldom will people be titillated by a post on the internet that reads "my car turned on just fine this morning and gave me no troubles today." However, more dramatic points of view grab all of the attention...especially when it comes to hot button issues like cars, lawyers, timeshares and most especially, politics. That being said, the Nissan is far from flawless, it just happens to come with a 5 year or 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Nissan knows they have something good and I'm sure they'll bend over backwards to make their customers happy. If the other brands wanted to capitalize on any perceived opportunity, they would warranty their own trucks for 6/120 bumper to bumper...but we know that will never happen...except with Toyota perhaps. If Toyota were to do the same thing Nissan did and make a truck out of industry best parts and put a huge warranty on it, there might be a tidal shift in truck sales in the United States.

    I'm back for an update on this truck...having owned one and yes I sold it. The only positive thing I can say about the truck is that for diesel truck the price wasn't bad...that's it. I've owned several Nissans...have also owned BMW, Honda, Acura, Toyota etc etc. This is THE worst vehicle I've ever owned bad as or worse than the Dodge I owned. As result of this experience I would never ever consider buying a Nissan product again this company is forever off my list...except possibly 370Z which is bullet proof car and yes I owned couple of them. This truck has serious power flaw when you turn left..its being widely reported. If you read the Car and Driver review it is dead on...every flaw they discuss is REAL. Nissan fk this truck up big time and it is in my opinion a ticking time bomb. That's it...trust me you buy it you are going to live to regret it.
