    You are most certainly meant to live your life in front of the camera. Same info as a dozen other reviews but the delivery makes all the difference. This is my first time coming across one of your videos and the entertainment value can not be denied. And so this is the first good Titan Cummins review on YT even though I've seen a dozen of them already. Thank you... I may wach some other ones by you also just for the hell of it even though I only wanted to know about the Titan.

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 Před 5 lety

      Donald Scearce The tundra will pull it , but will get significantly worse mileage like 5 miles a gallon worse plus towing all day. The tundra is awful on mileage empty , that’s one that big setbacks of why they don’t sell more. That , and a outdated cabin , no aluminum , needs a 8 speed beyond me why Toyota won’t do it.

  • @TheJcdm327

    I think your initial comment about the Titan XD is that it is a tweener was right on. It is indeed Nissan's design and strategy to be a tweener truck. I just bought a new 2017 Titan XD SL w/5.0 Cummins and crew cab.
    It rides like cloud and it is extremely quiet even with the diesel engine.
    You didn't mention the Rockford Fosgate sound system. Amazing!
    For my own pleasure I bought it to pull a 5500 pound camper. Could a 1/2 ton truck do the job? Yes, and so could my '04 Silverado - do the job. I have two issues with the 1/2 ton trucks pulling loads cross country. They only come with gasoline engines and I don't like the idea of running 3500-4000 RPMs in a truck is not for me. My Titan XD can pull my camper at 70mph at about 1800 RPMs.
    Speaking of towing, my Titan pulls the camper like it's not there. The ride and handling is awesome. Like it's not there.
    Other videos have compared the Titan XD against the F150 towing a 10,000 lb. Cargo trailer. The Titan did what it was designed to do. It out performed the Ford in every category. Would it out perform the F250 with the Power Stroke. Hell no. If you need 930 flb of torque then buy a Ford F-250 or the Chevy Duramax.
    The proper category for the Titan XD is a very heavy duty 1/2 ton truck. Payload is 2000 lbs and towing capacity is north of 12,000 lbs. It comes equipped from the factory gooseneck and 5th wheel accessories.
    Styling is always in the eye of the buyer. I personally think Chevy is the best looking truck but I hate Dodge and Ford's styling. The Titan XD looks nothing like a Ford especially it's profile.
    I'll admit that I originally wanted a Chevy Duramax and should have bought one during the family and friends deals in January '18. But when I was ready to buy even the base model 2017 Duramax was $10,000 more than my Titan XD SL. The SL package is one step below the premium package.
    I got a more than capable truck for my purposes for less money and with a lot more creature comforts.

      I agree this truck is amazing, packed with options, and more bang for the buck than most trucks in its class. If you need to pull huge, heavy loads then get what you need. But If your pulling decent loads, bigger boats, and fifth wheels. This is ideal without burning up a nice half ton truck. This truck is in a class of its own making it unique being an in betweener.

    Having owned three fords, I traded in my F250 diesel for a XD GAS. I don’t tow 10k+, just a TT loaded 6000. The XD handles it so well. The ride in XD is so far the best best best among the trucks I have driven. People mocks at Nissan for inventing world first 5/8-ton class, but what is wrong with that? It fits the need of customers like towing a medium load but not to lose ride comfortability and confidence of towing safety that 1/2 tons don’t provide. I like my Nissan...

    Own a 16 xd Cummins. Has 94k and it lives its life towing a cargo trailer daily for our business. I bought it brand new and have changed the oil every 3 months religiously. Diffs once a year and same with trans fluid. My truck is how I make a living and it takes care of me, so I take care of it. At 200k miles, she's going in for a complete rebuild.

  • @LouisCaputo
    @LouisCaputo Před 6 lety +10

    Overall, a good video, but the cost and what you pay are two very different things with this truck. I got my 2017 XD 4X4 Platinum Reserve 5.6 gasser for $46K, not the 65K you mentioned, or the $62K on the sticker. And that was in 2017, so not a leftover. Throw in the 5/100 warranty, and that's pretty hard to beat.

    • @TruckCentral
      @TruckCentral  Před 6 lety +1

      No one pays MSRP, but it would be impossible for us to compare every local incentive available on every vehicle and relay that information in a video. The vehicle we tested had an MSRP of $65k

    • @LouisCaputo
      @LouisCaputo Před 6 lety +1

      Truck Central understood, but when comparing the XD to even a similarly equipped 1/4 ton from the big 3, I doubt you'd see discounts like that. Nissan is winning hearts and minds with their value and warranty.

    Wait, did I miss anything about the fact that Nissan offers a 5year/100000mile bumper to bumper warranty (compared to the standard 3year/36000 warranty offered by everyone else)? That was a huge item in the plus column for me. Alsoooked at the Sierra 1500 and Ram 1500. Sorry to say that I eliminated the Ram only because the dealer I visited started playing games. I really liked the Sierra 1500 SLT, but in order to get one that had a crew cab, 4x4, full sized box, and towing that was anywhere close to the XD, it was going to cost me about 5 grand more. Picking up my new XD today!

  • @schlite60

    traded it on a 2020 Ram 3500 limited a year ago. After really bad experience with a local dealer over a leaking EGR cooler. That should be a warranty repair at 79K. They said there was no warranty after 65K for the very early 2016's (which mine is). They charged me over 2k for the repair, Stealership thought i was revenue stream and they did very poor workmanship. They never did change out the EGR. Right after I bought the truck; I found a almost new EGR cooler (complete with a intake manifold with all of the parts too!!) from a Canadian wrecking yard. Because allot people were having the EGR changed out. That really saved me and I am former Diesel mechanic (medium duty trucks and Ground support equipment). Home office was no help with the dealer and the warranty at all. Long story short; I did file a claim in small claims court and got a judgement against dealer plus the mechanic also. I did get the money back after I sold the Titan. I did get low medium blue book for the Titan. I love the Ram better than i did Titan.

  • @MyTubeUser321
    @MyTubeUser321 Před 6 lety +2

    The problem with this truck is that it has no major advantages over half ton OR 3/4 ton trucks. Nissan says that it's for people who don't want the size of a 3/4 ton truck, yet it's longer than the Ram and the GM trucks. The overhang makes it even harder to park and the fuel economy loaded and unloaded is actually WORSE than the GM Duramax or the Ram Cummins. Nevermind the outdated infotainment, the lack of dealer incentives from Nissan and the fact that there are more capable light duties that can tow as much or maybe more than the XD from Ford, GM and Ram.
    It's no surprise that sales went down 33% last month for the Titan. Things will only get worse if they don't make significant changes.

      Tow ratings are bullshit though, try towing 9k travel trailer with a half ton then tow with this, this is going to be much more stable, can handle wind gusts better, and brake better than a half ton truck. Jeeze half tons squat with anything close to 7k on the back of them!

    It’s kind of a waste of a diesel in my opinion. it’s just you can’t do any real work like the people that buy One ton or even 3/4 ton. My opinion a diesel should be for heavy haul and towing Otherwise the extra expense of the fuel and maintenance you’re better off just buying a gasoline powered truck

    • @2fox76
      @2fox76 Před 3 lety

      In my opinion you're wrong. The big 3 have a half ton diesel in all their trucks. Nissan stepped it up to give a bigger motor for heavier towing but the ride of the half ton. After having an F250 and now this there is a place for this kind of truck. Nissan just can't compete with the big three. Based on name alone they're already behind. I never would've thought I would go foreign on a truck until I drove this. Granted Cummins is USA. This puts out the same specs a stock 6.0 PS does with the ride of a half ton. It fits exactly what those of us who bought one want.

      @@dude28405 right if someone needs the payload of a 3/4 plus truck then they need to get it. This is not that, and I don't know why the gooseneck was put in place since you can't tow any 5th wheel rv. If you want a powerful truck that rides nice this is it. If you need to go big on payload this is not. Of course there's plenty of videos of people towing 5th wheels with after market suspension to show capability. But again if there's not a market for diesels in the half ton market why do the big three make them? Nissan just doesn't have the demand that the others do based on name.

    Titan certainly didn’t invent the “titan box” - Ram has been doing that for over a decade with the Ram Box - although the Ram Box is much more functional. I even pulled the default tray out of mine and dropped in a rifle holster for going to the range - if people behind me only knew I have a couple of AR-15s or a Browning .300 WinMag pointed backward. LOL.

  • @scottjohnson943

    I’ll keep my brand-new Ram Longhorn w/ RamBox and Max-towing configuration. I can tell he “hasn’t towed much” if towing around a car-hauler feels like a big deal... try a 44 foot fifth wheel or toy hauler behind that POS. Nissan has always had breaking problems with under-sized rotors & calipers, lackluster towing capacity, ugly appearance, and it looks like the cab is pretty small. It’s not “solid towing figures” - that thing is less than a half-ton fully-configured from any of the big 3. You don’t have to keep talking about “fully loaded F-150” or “F-250s” - yeah- they are expensive, that’s why Ram sells their high-spec Longhorn & Limited like hot cakes.. pretty easy to get $15k off the price tag with rebates and negotiation... certain times of the year, $15k off a GMC is doable too. Speaking of which, why no mention of the Denali? After having a Silverado High Country, a decent Ford (a long time ago), one of the first Titans, and many others... my Ram - albeit kind of old-school... is absolutely the best truck I’ve ever had for reliability, capability, and value.

You can get this truck base model 4x4 with Cummins for $40. No one can beat that. Anyone who needs a good truck to be a truck doesn't need 0 gravity seats or fake wood trim.
