    Well people were asking for a "long term" review of a Truck and you guys gave it to them in TFL fashion. I like the truck especially in that yellow color (the only truck that I do like in yellow, not the BIG BIRD Ram), yes it is somewhat behind in tech than the domestic, same goes for the Tundra, but it is a solid reliable truck that can do what you need it to unless you want to tow more than 8k. Great Long Term Buddy review guys, thanks for sharing.

    I liked the review, very informative, fact based. I am looking at a 2020 Titan to replace my 2004 with 220K miles on it. My old Titan will just not die and I am not complaining. It sounds and runs as good as the first day I bought it. I haven't put a dime in the truck minus regular maintenance. Not a pitch for Nissan, really. I hate the Nissan stealerships and what they call customer service. But I will easily trade a little worse MPG and not being the first to the next stoplight for when all those turbo's wear out and Ford shows you the repair bill, that only they can fix, because you need 69 Ford tools to work on it.

    @3920cruz Před 5 lety +136

    I don't understand why reviews of any product outside the big 3 of Ford, GM, Ram are so convoluted. I like watching your videos, but I cannot but sometimes feel that there is an underlying tone to always lean toward the big 3 and while other brands seem to have the good, ...BUT... always included. For example, this review presented an opportunity to provide real world feedback that real truck owners want to know. Your review should have focused on this opportunity instead of wasting so many minutes on non-relevant non-sense included in most of the first 2/3rds of the video.
    Categories like:
    fuel economy: you read the gauge at 12.x on the display. Everyone knows these displays present a calculated average for the session and do not real world mixed highway/city mpg unless constantly refreshed after each driving session. Anyone that uses these trucks know the real average is 16-18 mpg, in the 1/2 ton truck class. Nissan truck owners also know from experience that Nissan trucks typically score on the lower end of the mpg average range when compared to other truck brands, and has been so constant in previous generations of Titans and is so for the Frontiers in the mid-size as well.
    reliability: It was not until the last 1/3rd of the video did you speak about what matters, how the truck performed well over the 6 month time frame with no issues, mechanical or otherwise, no check engine lights, etc...
    Nathan stated "user experience was good when used on vacation by wife and family, ... hey this matters when our passengers have no complaints! Each of you spoke positively, yet in the end such a mediocre recommendation, I cannot recommend to buy it? What? Its like going to a restaurant, cleaning off your plate in 30 seconds, and the waiter asks how was it, and you say...
    "the steak could have been bigger, the veggies needed more butter, ...."
    just say it was good!
    This is important when multiple people are using the truck and no one can point to a real complaint or problem to report.
    focusing on a lack of engine choices, when the engine that is offered is for all intent and purposes established over several years of service and known to be a solid performer is silly. Evaluate what you have in front of you, a simple statement that it is the only engine available is enough.Why waste time about a lack of engine choices because Ford or GM or RAM offer choices. Everyone knows that multiple choices/configurations is an American Automotive thing and that most other brands do not follow this model.
    Focusing on a lack of 8" or 10" display, only one engine choice or how it looks like a 2014 Ford....really guys? You are better than this.
    Here are the facts, all truck mfgs discount their trucks so suggested mfg pricing means nothing. All truck mfgs over state the towing capability to an unrealistic number and even in this video I believe I heard Nathan state that he would not tow 11k in the Rebel even though it is rated for it. That's right Nathan. You know it is not safe. So when Nissan says the Titan is rated for just under 9300#, this is more realistic and honest.
    In the end as your drive was finishing you were saying positive things, nothing negative, yet you then conclude "it is not a buy" and revert back to the earlier comments unrelated to the overall performance and experience of using the truck.
    As a truck owner & purchaser since 1983, I appreciate real word first hand experience of other people. From your review, your ownership experience was good, but your professional commentary and conclusion is less than .... I really do not want to say out of respect.
    When paying more than 50K for trucks, it seems reliability is #1 to me. Bells and whistles, sun roofs, 10" screens and 10 speed tranny? Will these new 10 speeds hold up? I know the 5 and 6 speeds work well.
    I am a truck guy. I own a Chevy 4500 chassis cab and a Nissan Titan XD cummins today. I have owned F250 before. I have owned Frontiers before. My friends own Chevy HDs, RAMs, I have driven F350 7.3s for work. I am familiar with the product. Most of these new trucks have more things in common that anytime in the past.
    I know two things today:
    1-My Chevy and its Vortec 6.0 get the job done!
    2-My Titan XD Cummins and do everything Nissan says it is rated for and then some. When towing 9K or 10K trailers, I have to keep reminding myself the trailer is back there. And it is soooooo comfortable for my 58 year old fat **s. This is what every towing experience should be like.
    In conclusion: Just report on the product you have in front of you. Not what you think it should be compared to what others are doing. We can decide for ourselves from there.
    Thanks for the videos.

    As an owner of an 08 titan (w 252k on the clock) I can say this truck won me over (im a gm guy). Still solid and the 5.6 has plenty of grunt left. Sure, Id love a newer 2nd gen pro 4x; but I trust my titan to get me another 50k at least. Just Id love to know why truck dudes hate on/overlook this truck so much? Its modern, but simple and reliable, what the hell do you want out of a truck? Gimmicky crap the big 3 have been peddling?

    2018 Nissan Titan -30 K under 29K. The value is so far above the other big trucks, you just cant beat it. We live in a world where you have to be realistic and less spoiled with all the extras. I think this truck with this motor is a steal.

    I had a 2005 Titan. I put an exhaust and intake and it sounded wonderful. It had plenty of power and with proper maintenance lasted. I sold it with 260K, still going strong and no loss of power. The new Titans as well as other trucks are getting too expensive for a work truck.

      drphibesrises I was glad to see your comment. I’m looking for an older one to have as a 3rd vehicle/work truck. But I’ve read that some had issues with the rear axle. Did you have any problems?

    • @drphibesrises
      @drphibesrises Před 5 lety +1

      @@scottvickery2057 I never had any issues with the rear axle. I did not tow anything so I was pretty easy on it. The one problem they do have is the exhaust manifolds on earlier years 2004-2009, would crack and it is an expensive repair as the exhaust manifolds and cats are one piece so make sure you check that out. If you live in another state besides CA there are many aftermarket replacements that are less expensive, but CA you have to buy OEM parts from the dealer to comply with state laws.

Nissan is definitely under the radar on a well built truck and they have no where near the problems as the other trucks. Titans are just as good as the rest and alot cheaper anyone looking in a full-size truck this is well worth looking at and just putting cold air intake can increase mpg. Mine went from 16.4-17.5 to 18.7-20.3 with just k&n.

    Id buy it... Cause i hate sunroofs but love leather seating.... I like V8 power without start stop (hate start stop) ....its simple....texhnology can be added aftermarket, as for fuel millage ... Its controlled by your foot ....or can be tweaked by a performance programmer. Also, the 7 speed.... Cheaper to fix when it does go. For a full size truck ...small truck pricing with a full size body. Plus, theres no aluminum panels. No blinspot or lane assist, no problem....less stuff to go wrong. check it manually!!. The column shifter i can live with it although id prefer a console shifter. Id buy that. Even if as a used truck. Just not in yellow :) My other choice, is the Tundra.....id buy it....comming from a guy who love to get basic 4 door trucks...in 2WD when possible too ....am in Canada btw :)

    Our family has had many Nissans and virtually no problems. Maybe my only complaint is that tires and brakes don't last as long as I'd expect (both maybe 35k miles). I was hot to get a Titan XD when they came out and a test drive soured me on that instantly. I've been thinking about what my next truck would be. Maybe this is the one. I bought a Powerstroke F-250 after looking at the XD. It's awesome and cheaper than the XD. I'm not sure I'll need a diesel next time around.

Gas may be a bit rough but just all that your getting makes it attractive. This would be a well equipped lower tier half ton and that's saying a lot now. These trucks can tow damn near anything nowadays even the lower tier trucks.
