    I've so much wanted Nissan to get into the game, and this Titan does it well. I am a big fan of Cummins, and Nissan does resonate clearly in my family for their cars. Though Honda and Toyota has been preferred as of late, this Titan, and the new GT-R have me excited in the brand that is Nissan. Living literary only a few miles away from the Smyrna Plant. It is nice to know Nissan is turning out some great vehicles.

    I enjoyed your post video comment. I, as well, had 2 Datsun vehicles in my lifetime. The first of which was bought at least 6 months before I was able to drive at the tender age of 16 a four door 69 Datsun 510. I had the 510 decked out with a webber carb ( no air filter) and some nice tires and easily go over 100mph(lol). Later I had a '79 280z that the body rusted out on but both vehicles had strong engines that I cant say I didn't abuse but they wouldn't give up. Fond memories of both.

      keltheb oh yea I’ve owned a 510 Coupe, that I raised with longer struts with HD shocks. I drove the hell out here f that little car! I scared s lot of friends too! There was this abandoned factory down in the next town, with a 4’ loading dock near a rail head. I used to rally round the area, drive up the ramp onto the loading dock, then actually drive off the dock into a bunch of weeds! That car was indestructible!! But was the last good Datsun/Nissan I have owned. I had a Hardbody Truck that was a rust disaster! It lasted about 7 years before the bed actually fell off! I sold it at a loss and bought a 2003 Dodge Dakota reg Cab 4x4, V8 5 speed I drove in all the same areas and beaches, I owned for 11 great trouble free years after that. But the wife and I have owned Chevy Silverados, Avalanche and now the best truck I’ve ever owned, a 2916 Colorado Z71,4x4AWD,V6 Ext Cab, we Tow a 3,990 lbs travel trailer full time now that we’re both retired. On a Cat Scale the CHVW is up to 9,870 lbs, Truck, trailer, full tank and all the water and stuff we both need. We averaged 15 mpg on this last 4,000+ leg of our trip from Florida to Texas Hill Country, Colorado Mountains and down to Louisiana. Plus at times o hauled my motorcycle also with the trailer! Just cruising along it gets 27 hyw 18 city! It’s the best I’ve owned so far! But we are getting a bigger trailer in a couple months. So we plan on get a new full sized truck. Maybe a HD, Ram I like , Chevy she likes. So probably the Chevy. I want to find s great deal in a 2018, Z71 6.2 if I can find one after the 2019 is released. Or an LTZ 5.3, 4x4AWD, with the HD Towing Package, that com s with the 9.5” rear with 3:73 gears. I like the2500 Ram Laramie 4x4AWD Cummins with a standard trans and Iff Road Package myself.

    good review. currently looking going back and fourth with a salesman on an XD. Not sure if you touched on it (I may have zoned out) but that removable cup holder drives me up a wall. Also, the tow mirrors are tiny compared to the big 3. I love the mirrors on my gmc 2500. overall good job on the review, great to hear what it's like to actually live with it.

  • @noneofyourbuisiness4011

    I've had a Titan XD since it came out. Silly me. It has a few quirks that need to ironed out but overall it has been a very solid truck and is serving me well. I won't replace it until Nissan fixes issues like power, undersized fuel tank, undersized DEF tank, poor drainage holes in the wiper wells, a difference between speedometer and cruise control values, (2km difference), poor quality trailer wire harness connection, better quality Mirrors, (difficult to pull out and in, no heat on the bottom mirror), Better designed plastic seat trim, (especially around the bottom of the driver seat which causes premature tears in the side of the seat material.) A more efficient heating system for the DEF. (Nissan has already replaced my entire DEF system because of freezing issues. And just for kickers, a better designed method of displaying vehicle information instead of the scroll thru menu that currently exists. Like perhaps an option to use the map display so show multiple functions instead of having to scroll through one at a time. ( It's a real pain in the ash.)

    I own the new Titan xd and a new Tundra. The Titan beats the Tundra hands down. The Titan also out tows the Tundra. At 75 mph, In the Tundra, hang on! It's not a pleasant experience. The frame has a ton of flex and it just feels loose. The Titan is a world apart. Tight, great towing power and tows straight. The Tundra is much faster off the line.

      @TestDrivenTV  Před 8 lety

      +xTouragx Thank you. No difference in this case really. Pre-production here simply means it rolled off the line one of the first dozen or so vehicles, well before they went on sale. It's the same as production in spec.

    Nissan Titan XD has problems with driveshaft. The problem is caused by a "resonance frequency" that occurs at speeds above 75 mph. Vibrations caused by a condition that occurs in the power train systems at speeds above 75 mph and continued operation causes the transmission and driveshaft components to fracture. The problem is unnoticeable until it causes damages and the truck quits moving while driving.

      @@CountryLivingOnTheFarm Only thing about is that the year 2016 was the first year they rolled out with the Cummins engine, I believe. So, the 2016 models may have some bugs and kinks. They probably figured those out in 2017 and on. That’s pretty much it. The 2019 models and up have Toyota transmissions, just an fyi.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  Před 7 lety

      The Aisin six-speed unit in this truck is tuned pretty tight. Automatic transmissions in HD trucks typically do shift harder and tighter as a rule. In our tests we did feel this. If it is more however than you feel normal, you should have your dealer advise.

      @@nomaam9797 I've had some issues with coming to a stop and getting a thump. Nissan has tried tuning it a couple of times with some success. Another issue is the shift point at 60 KMpH. Because of the speed limit, it tends to use more fuel than it should. Them's the hazards of automatic transmissions i guess.

    What a beautiful truck. Nissan outdid themselves on this one It's too bad, it took them so long to do a makeover. I'm also sad they discontinued the Xterra, which I currently drive and love. IMO DEF, is garbage, not needed and really a ploy to make money off consumers. I don't think they use it in Europe as far as I know and they have tons of diesels as well as places like Australia, NewZealand etc.
