I couldn't agree with this review more. I absolutely love my Titan diesel. I have a contracting company and owning multiple other diesel trucks all very disappointing. I tried the Titan diesel because I had a gas one years ago and loved it. This truck is truly well built. I agree culture has a huge part to do with it people seem to impose flaws on this truck that don't really exist because it's different and doesn't fall under the major manufacturers

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  Před 4 lety +6

It's a dog eat dog world and the manufacturers themselves smear the daylights out of the competition online...so many "comments" by Titan haters are from folks who's youtube account only exists to disparage Titan diesels. It worked, and Nissan, despite their huge investment, axed a great truck. If you have a channel like mine you see that there are several innovative vehicles who've simply been shamed out of existence.

I bought a 2016 Titan SL diesel brand new and still own it with 118,000 miles. Problems I have had requiring replacement repairs was an EGR cooler replacement at 90,000 miles (It had a pinhole leak and Nissan gave me the repair for half price ~$1500 after I persistently showed them it is a known problem with many occurrences online hence probably why the new EGR cooler is an updated version). I replaced the AC/heater blower motor at 110,000 miles which was an easy CZcams fix (~$100). I also had to replace a fuel injector at 100,000 miles. For those that do not know, it looks like an engine gets blown when it happens (hint...stop driving and get it towed to the shop!). Fuel injector was replaced without issues (~$400). Problems I currently have is that the coolant reservoir level sensor is poorly engineered and will give you a false low level that puts you in limp mode (I have replaced the coolant reservoir/level sensor twice ~$300 and it still happens). This was an easy CZcams fix by unscrewing the level sensor from the bottom and lowering it about an inch held up by a securely taped on bolt (and no, it doesn't leak if you unscrew it). I also have to fill the power steering fluid from low level every year which is concerning, but manageable. Other than that, it runs great and have had no other issues. Overall, I am completely satisfied and have never experienced the major repair horror stories of the Big 3 trucks that usually occur prior to 80,000 miles. Although the touch screen display is lacking (again, its 2016), the Rockford Fosgate stereo gets compliments from everybody who listens to it and interior leather is still holding up well. I get compliments on my truck from Ram and GM diesel owners at work all the time because it still looks almost new. Is ~$2,300 corrective maintenance too much work/problems for a 2016 truck with 118,000 miles?...I don't think it is if you have some repair knowledge and pull out some CZcams certified mechanic to help save some cost. Of course, its a shared vehicle which also helps.

Not a race car not a semi but an every day work horse meant to eat the miles and do what ever the weekend worrier has to throw at it! I love mine, it’s too bad Nissan is cutting it off this December. Yes ford ram Chevy all are in the 30k lbs range for towing, and that’s fine but for a person like myself the titan xd is an excellent compromise.

It truly is a great truck! We have put 18,000 working miles on our '18 model Midnight Edition in less than a year. I have been a diehard Ram owner for over 25 years and I followed Cummins development of their ISV 5.0 package into this XD. I thought it would be in a Ram, but this was the package presented. Truth be told, it's just so much truck for the money and performs better than any Ram I've owned/operated previously. ...and that includes 5.7, 6.4 Hemi trucks and 5.9 Cummins trucks. Do the 6.7 Cummins make more power now? Sure. But that's not the point. The Chassis, stability, oversized brakes, comfortable ride, towing manners, fuel economy, 5 year warranty, and more, make this the best truck for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat! If this truck had even 25% of the marketing and support the Big 3 have, it would be a huge success! I still regularly have people warn me at the pumps, because they have no idea that Nissan offered this amazing diesel truck! Lol! It always leads to a fun conversation, and I've given a lot of test rides to folks. It's fun to see them light up when they realize just how American this Nissan branded XD really is! Thanks so much for the video! It's refreshing! Keep up the great work!

Aside from the transmission short shifting/upshifting too soon even under moderate to heavy throttle it drives like it should. Love it! This engine however, didn’t have the power I had hoped for in a V8 and it clatters which told me it might not have the tech that the big 3 have in their diesels. I have owned two titans and love them both. My first titan got slammed in the rear so hard the coil springs in the car that hit me popped out and was rolling down the road. Three vehicles were involved counting my truck, two were totalled and had to be towed away, mine was the only one that drove home. My 2007 titan tailgate came unhinged on one side only, a bent bumper, and a slight dent on the fender where the rear bumper was pushed into it. The tail lights were fully intact. I was so impressed with how well it held together I bought another new one back in 2013. It now has 130,000 miles and I'm ready for a 3rd. Perhaps a 2020 model.

I put 16,000 trouble free miles on it, and there are days I miss it. ive had mine a couple months now. 2019 xd midnight. The power is biggest complaint. after about 3500-4000 rpm it will pick up a little and is a little more responsive after you hit around 45mph. It has less than 400 hp and and almost 500'lb torque. So not really in the same market as other trucks its size compared to hp and torque. The DPF system is also a major restriction. Mine has already been replaced by the manufacturer at 5000 miles! I bought the GM demo at 4700 miles so they didnt drive it right. of course it is under warranty and the replacement was free. If you lose the DPF system, Hp and torque will increase greatly so after the warranty, mine is coming off . But, as far as comfortability, I think titan is on point. durability, will run forever. My 2011 titan SL is still running hard at 200,000 miles and ive drive it like im running from the police everyday. only thing ive done to it is basic tune up. Ive added some after market performance parts to speed it up a little too. This is my third titan, went with the diesel because of the added towing capacity. Just wish it had more power and of course that can be achieved easily for around $6,000 after the warranty is up. so i will be saving a little money over the next 100,000 miles when the warranty expires to drop the DPF and add new exhaust, intake, injectors etc. Edelbrock makes a complete kit for this truck to give around 600+ hp and much more torque. So, not as much hp or torque, but very comfortable and durable and hp and torque can be added later.

I think it failed not because of the big 3, but because it’s filling a niche within a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton. A niche that just is falling through the cracks. 1/2 ton people mostly run from diesels unfortunately. And 3/4 and 1 ton people are trying to pull a mountain and want to squeeze every ounce of torque out of them. I like the idea of the Titan Cummins simply because I think diesels are a better more efficient engine. I would snuff gasoline engines from the planet if I had my say. Your getting more torque and better fuel economy at a lower RPM which equates to longevity. What’s not to like? I am looking at a 2.8 liter Cummins crate motor right now. Thanks for the video! You got this video a bit wrong. I've owned 2 f450's, a couple 350's, a GMC Topkick, and an LBZ Sierra. What these ALL have in common that the XD diesel doesn't is capacity. That Nissan is an upgraded half-ton. That limits it's capabilities.
The XD Cummins tows 15.5k on a 5th/gooseneck and 11k on the bumper. That's at the bottom of a 3/4 or 1 ton. My 5th wheel is 14k lbs. With all my stuff in it, it'd be maxed out before my fat butt got inside. With a 3/4 or bigger, I'm at the bottom of the tow capacity for even the smaller gas engine.
To get that tow rate from a half-ton, they have to shift harder and ride harder. They have a smaller frame, smaller axles, and much less cooling. Also why that 5.0 v8 Cummins was notorious for overheating under load.
So no, it's not from being a overly capable 1/2 ton that's rougher to drive. It's because they tried to carve a niche market that couldn't sustain itself. It was the same price as a nicely loaded 3/4 ton and that 3/4 ton was built for the rough and tumble. It wasn't a half-ton wearing a muscle suit.

Incorrect. This engine was NEVER destined for Toyota, regardless what the internet tells you. The engine was designed SOLELY for Ram 1500. Then Nissan and Dodge worked a deal for the next gen Titan to be built off the Ram 1500 platform and that’s how Nissan got involved. Ultimately, the Nissan was never built on Ram platform, and Chrysler backed out because it gets worse fuel mileage than the big three engines do, with bigger engines and more power! Toyota was never a player.

Ask someone who bought a 2500/3500 diesel and they would say Cummins (if purchased a ram) they don't say the truck brand just the engine, the same brand that's under the hood of a Titan XD so why didn't it do well . . . less than 500 lbs of payload and roughly 1,000 lbs towing from gas to diesel and a extra $5,000 price tag. probably why there dropping it, poor sales (a good tuning would fix this Nissan) That being said I like them, pretty sharp looking and wouldn't mind having one.

Nissan extended my 2016 to 100,000 miles after I complained about the transmission shifting wrong. Still short shifts but other than that no issues. 2017 started the 100,000 mile warranty. I use diesel kleen or howes fuel additive to give the fuel lubricity. Our fuel sucks and has no lubricity, so these Bosch cp4 pumps self destruct if they catch air. Everyone uses that pump, Mercedes, BMW, VW, most cars in europe but they dont have the self destruct problems because their fuel is better than ours. I'd get with a lawyer. I'm assuming your high pressure fuel pump self destructed if you paid 11k. Nissan should cover this so you need to call them.

For heavy equipment, And the dealer who fix the truck said that the additive I use for the fuel was a big Nono” this happens a little over a year, too late to do something. Also there is a "disaster kit" that bypasses your fuel if the pump self destructed so you dont get shrapnel into the fuel system.

first ... the third gear shift flare is a well known issue! When cold the titan xd with the Aisin will “slip” when shifting from second to third under medium/hard throttle.
Second- EGR coolers are known to leak and are only covered under a 50k warranty.
Third - steering issues have plagued the titan xd. It’s not poorly designed imo.
Fourth - the fuel mileage is horrible and the power compared to the big three is a bit off
Fifth- imo the build quality of mine is horrible. My entire roof is cracked, my rear door latch was loose from factory and rubbed door paint, driver door panel has been repaired and needs replaced, I have Tony’s steering issue and the third gear slip.
Overall I love the truck! Nissan and Nissan dealers make me want to trade it in. I’m in between a f250 tremor and a manual transmission 2500 dodge.
