thanks....... I just picked up a 1987 EZGO i think a marathon. turn key on put in forward or reverse and she takes off. just a new type of project for this winter. your video gives me some help on what to trouble shoot. I usually do radio control helicopters. So this will be a new adventure. glad we have youtube to help trouble shoot..... Jim
I'm here a bit late but wanted to thank you for the video , very helpful
this switch is no longer serviceable... haha brilliant thanks for your help, I am chancing my career from automotive mechanic to electric truck specialist, your upload really helped
Thank you sir. Right today we needed this information.
I, just like rpk9967, and many others, would like to know what is causing the excessive heat build up. In my opinion, the root of the problem is poor design in the FNR switch. No matter if you change out to the "new heavy duty model" switch with the thicker buss, it's still going to heat up and eventually fail just like the original OEM ones. How about you explaining the cause of the heat build up Jack.
Great video yeah mine is torched.
Can you do a proper wiring of a 36 volt ezgo
I could show you a 10 minute video of the same switches. But WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM!!!!! Can't remedy what causes this problem if you don't tell your viewers what causes the heat. I can't afford $100 every couple months replacing switches. I'd like to solve my problem. 98 txt 36v Campground use only. thank You!
Did you ever get an answer? I think mine is having the same issue.
Never got an answer. I changed out a few direction plates/switches til finally selling the thing and buying a new Yamaha 48v cart.
@@st.elizabethannsetoncathol3303 loose cables. Correded cables. Loose battery connection.
Sitting unused in high humidity ,loose cable end lugs at switch loose post nuts . I have the ez go HD switch on my Yamaha running 74 volts lithium hanging in there for a few years now.
Jack, if your still here, i have a question, i have a gas club car "86" model if i replace the engine with Harbor Freight 1" shaft kind, will or can the reverse still work, or is that a function that i will lose by bypass, not use anymore,
Great video!
My EZ-Go F/R switch slides easily into Reverse, but the mechanism stops in the Neutral position and will not turn to the Forward position. I've checked it carefully but can't find anything that blocks the mechanism from turning all the way to the Forward position. What might be the problem here? Thanks for any help.
Need help please solenoid clicking but club car dont move what is it mean do I need another one something else. Thanks.
Things that will burn out the copper F&R.... Holding the foot pedal and brake at the same time...to much weight on cart... going up hills .... wire to small replace all wire even to motor 4 gage..... brakes to tight ..... low air tire pressure.... low dc volts.....not putting the f/r in neutral ..Leaving key on and the solenoid is closed. I Think this is all, working on carts for 35 years.
I have a golf cart that struggled to get up a hill. When I got up it, I put it in reverse to back up to the charger. Right when I took it out of the forward position, it would only go in reverse. Then a few minutes later it would not move at all, even later on once it was charged. After looking at my F&R switch, it appears just fine. But I don’t have any continuity going through it. Does this indicate I have a bad F&R switch?
i have a taylor dunn from the eighties, its a gt model. its a custom cadillac model. i was told it was owned by president ford. they said it had a plack, but it was stolen. the cart was in a garage for about 20 years. had 4 flat tires and had a pile of stuff on it. could barley see the cart. 3 of the tires aired up and the fourth would stay up if you didnt drive it.. i wanted to keep them because they were white walls. cant get them anymore. also 5 lug. i was wondering where i could get parts or just get it worked on.
I have a 68 Club Car with a troublesome forward and reverse switch, anything aftermarket I can use?
So is the HEAT PROBLEM CAUSED BY A DEGENERATED SWITCH, or is the heat caused by some other part that needs attention? Very, very good informative video! My ClubCar has burnt plastic smell when going uphill & now no power except on flat ground. I KNOW I need at least a new switch, and more if heat cause is outside the switch. Thank You!
Very helpful!! Thanks
Can you bypass by running hot wire to cylinoid to run in forward only!
thanks helped me a lot
What causes burnout?
Great Advice.. Thank YOU!!!
Saraba Abaras
What’s causing it to get so hot?
Isn't there a way that ceramic inserts could be (factory) installed to prevent the melting if heat is what causes the switch to go bad? Just wondering Thanks :)
I hv a ezgo 2005 need a reverse forward backward.
hat causes the heat buildup?
Great video !
What is the problem if it is hard to change from forward to reverse on my electric cart? Is there a way to adjust the switch to make it easier ?
I am also having the same trouble since a heavy duty switch was installed. Did you find a solution?
