      Well everyone has they’re opinions and I respect that, but trashing it because it’s not a wrangler or because it’s made in Italy, if it wasn’t for Fiat, Chrysler probably wouldn’t be a brand. I’m thankful for the Renegade it’s a really capable and affordable compact SUV.

      I trashed the vehicle here in the comments because the car IS TRASH. I leased a 2015 jeep renegade latitude. The problems I had with it starting at 7,000 miles were ridiculous and never happened to me on cars that I drove for 120k and btw, most people that I have spoken to online have said this car is a piece of shit as well. If you don't have any problems with this vehicle then you are very lucky. I had this thing at the dealership 8 times for malfunctions and parts wear (wheel bearing at 22k miles!) over the course of the last 14 months that I had it. I got fed up and finally turned the car in EARLY by 5 months because I did not want to have the car past the warranty period because I didnt want to pay out of my own pocket for new problems. I had no problem paying off the last 5 payments to have peace of mind. 39 month 36k miles lease and I turned it in with 29k miles. GOOD RIDDANCE!

    Bought our Renegade 3 months ago. It's an affordable vehicle that does great off road. We live near the Cascade Mountains. Does great over the passes and on dirt and snow trails up there. Whoever says it doesn't drive great off road is simply wrong.

    I bought my 2018 Renegade Sport, 1.4 turbo and 6 speed manual in September of 2018. The only thing I have done so far is regularly scheduled maintenance, 1 set of tires. Very happy with it's performance and reliability. Currently at 52, 225 miles. Would not worry about taking it anywhere. Nothing loose or falling off and no squeaks or rattles. Ride is somewhat harsh on rough roads, but it is a Jeep.

      the gas mileage sucks balls. I had one. The transmission is a 9 speed transmisison which never really feels comfortable and it's always busy looking for a gear. It has absolutely no torque off the line, which is important for an off road vehicle. The engine and the tranny reminds me of riding my old 2 stroke dirt bike when I was a kid, you always had to keep the engine " on the pipe" so to speak . Really weird car and let us n ot forget that this car is based on anothe fiat model which is another delicate piece of garbage , the fiat 500x. This is not even a borderline off road vehicle. If you take it off road enough you'll find out.

As far as reliability we had a problem with a cupeling for the rear end but the dealership replaced the whole unit after trying to fix it twice. those early days of ownership were not fun but it hasn't been in the shop since then. I got the comfort package with electric driver seat, dual climate, remote start and I would definitely recommend this package. This is my wife's daily driver but I drive it any chance I get. Here are the problems I've had in the order I got them in. 1) Ignition could 1 failure, causing my car to jump often, 2) major engine leakage causing my car to STOP in the middle of the road often, they put in a BRAND NEW engine. 3) Radiator fan issue, causing my car to over heat and getting my car towed. Issue 4) check engine light has come on, car has a torque issue and can barley drive. Keep in mind this car was purchased as a NEW car! It only has 53,000 miles on it. Don't buy this car from any dealership especially this one. If you do, I hope you remember these words and I hope you don't live in regret. I wish the fuel tank was a little larger and I wish the beats stereo system was a little better, but other than that they are pretty awesome and lots of fun to drive. Off road they are very maneuverable because of their size and smaller wheel base. Definitely get the Trailhawk if you plan on going off-roading and if you live in cold climates get the cold weather package with the heated leather seats! Also, there are three skidplates underneath that are very tough on the Trailhawk model and will they protect you when going over rocks or getting buried in the mud.

This thing does it all- quick trips, easy parking, camping on the weekends. What Jeep do you drag race with? NONE- who cares if it can't win pink slips in races, Tokyo Drift?

      Joey Ricco Well I don't think that you know what you are saying man. Before FCA got the brand Jeep was going straight to bankruptcy. It only sold vehicles in North America and now it sells internationally. Also all of their vehicles are in the top 10 most bought in their segment.

    i have a 2017 limited. had it almost a year now. i haven't had any issues with it thus far, so far i have put close to 13k miles on it. if you are looking for a real off road car do not get a renegade. it handles fine in the snow and down some dirt or gravel roads; and it works well for pulling dirt bikes or motorcycles and hauling kayaks to the river but i wouldn't take it down a real trail. this is a fairly cheap 4x4 and is normally going to be used as a daily driver. fuel efficiency is mediocre, i average 25 to 27 MPG but that is almost twice what i had on my 2009 Jeep Wrangle JK sport. the Renegade has a lot of gimmicky features and some nice things that come standard, overall i would give it a 7/10.

    At about 3:50 you say that the 4WD Low just locks it in 1st. This is not correct. I even paused the video and took my Trailhawk for a test drive to verify. It definitely shifts while in low range. I have owned mine for over 2 1/2 years and it has around 40K miles on it. The only time it has had to go to the dealer was because a local tire shop broke an air pressure sensor. A couple of months after I bought it, I drove it to Calispell Peak in Washington State ( www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/8546-calispell-peak.html ) on the stock Goodyear passenger tires. It had no problems. I did decide to upgrade the tires to BFG KO2's after that trip. It does great during snow storms too.

    I don't understand why all the hate on this little Jeep? I drove my sisters Limited around while she came to visit. It wasn't bad. Was it as capable as my TRD offroad Tacoma, no. But you have to look at the target demographic. First time new buyers or first time suv buyers. It does appeal mostly to women, there for not going to be offroading much with this other than gravel, or the occasional fireroad. The awd system will get you to work and the shops safely in bad weather. It's small and nimble. Mpg was 30' s on the highway, mid 20' s in town. As far as I know she has not had any problems with it in 50k plus miles. Is it a wrangled wannabe no. But is a decent little suv.

    • @AndrewAMartin
      @AndrewAMartin Před 6 lety +10

      How many Wranglers ever go off road? Most of them are mall crawlers... I got a Renegade for its good mileage and for bad weather driving in suburbia (I also have a convertible I drive in the summer, the Renegade replaced a 2005 Liberty Renegade). Do I want a Wrangler Rubicon? Sure, but it would be too expensive and use way too much gas. I didn't let my ego get in the way of a smart decision. My only regret is that the newer UConnect system is nicer (saw it in the 2018 Compass) and has some better phone integration features.
      Most of those commenting that it isn't a 'real' Jeep also don't understand that Jeep can't survive selling only Wranglers, they have to appeal to different niches in the market.

    Just got a used 2015 trailhawk. I'm getting 17mpg city. Looks like previous owner took care of it but in 2021 he did about $1900 in repairs, mostly electrical and reprogramming. He had a evap system leak repair. 2022 looked like he only had problems with the transmitter for the key fobs, he had that fixed. Other than that 2022 looked good. Not sure if I made the right decision getting this renegade but I guess I'll have to find out.

      That's what I do with my 2015 Renegade Trailhawk. A Jeep store near me does a deal where you buy 2 oil and filter changes and get a third one for free and that includes air filters and tire rotation. Oh, and they wash and wax it when their done, too!

    • @chazzicili3244
      @chazzicili3244 Před 5 měsíci

      @jerroldshelton9367 I wish a jeep store near me did some kind of deal like that.
      Update: After 1 yr of owning this jeep I can say I like it but hate it at the same time. Spent just about $3k in 2023 fixing the jeep up. Evap problem again was the biggest, replaced multiple parts. TSB flash reset, my engine was randomly cutting out for abt 3 weeks and only dealership can do flash. reset. AC sucction/discharge hose burned some how, replaced. I change oil about every 3,000miles cus around that I start getting dashboard messages of low oil pressure.
      Current problem squeeking noise and I think its serpentine belt but not sure yet. Hoping 2024 gets better cus if not I just might have to get rid of it.

      @@chazzicili3244 Well, I hope 2024 is a happier Renegade year for you and your Trailhawk.
      When I start needing to sink money into mine to keep it working like it is supposed to, I don't think parting with it is going to be an option for me.
      What else WAS there on the market that was exactly like the Renegade Trailhawk and what is there now after the thing has been discontinued in North America?
      Where else am I going to get Renegade Trailhawk off-pavement capability and highway mpg? What else is out there having the Renegade Trailhawk's exterior dimensions and off-pavement capability along with it's useful interior room? What other contemporary vehicle has the same sight lines as the Renegade Trailhawk?
      To me, the Renegade Trailhawk was unique enough to be something special because it simply "ticks the right boxes" better than any modern vehicle does.
      There just isn't anything else quite like it and there's nothing new I'd rather have than the Renegade Trailhawk I've already got.
      To me, it is not replaceable. The only thing I'd consider replacing it with is a brand-new 1986=1987 Bronco II or another Renegade Trailhawk.

      @chazzicili3244 Před 5 měsíci

      @jerroldshelton9367 Thank you, hopefully so and I'm hoping it goes well. Part of the reason I got it cus there was nothing else on the market within my price range and this is a unique vehicle (now it says I'm getting 20mpg) and it can do off roading enough for me to get to new grounds for fishing. That's why I like this vehicle but at the same time it's eating away at my wallet and giving me a headache. Hopefully after these repairs it's just regular maintenance.

As much as we wanted to like the little guy, we decided to restore an old XJ instead.
