I know this is an older video but I wanna add that the radiator fan had a recall so if it wasn't replaced just take it to a dealer and they will replace it for free. Have had my jeep renegade for 6 years now and has had no major issues
I just got a really up kept 2016 renegade.
Thanks
What year was the recall on? I have a 2019.. I'm dealing with water coming in on my back passenger side floor and can't find where it's coming from 🤦
@@dabberxfpv1613 DOES THE WARRANTY NOT COVER IT???
I have a 2015 renegade trailhawk and for 8 yrs offroading i haven't had any problems with the exception of a couple of minor issues covered by the warranty and regular maintenance on wear and tear items. This driver was not used to the vehicle and maybe not used to offroading in general but I would have made quick work of that little course in my TH
I've had 2 Renegades. A 2018 1.6 diesel Longitude and currently have a 2020 1.0 turbo petrol Limited. Absolutely love them.
Had? Why do you keep buying shitty cars?
@@DVAMEKAGK motability vehicles and I've never had a problem with either of them.
@@kayleighmckagan // you know that motability is a scheme ??? Right ???
@@carloscolon198 yes, been with them for almost 6 years, hence I've had 2 renegades
@@DVAMEKAGK What's with the shitty question?
All 2015 and 2016 have bad motor mounts. They redesigned them for 2017 and newer. The shaking was so bad I replaced them and it feels great now. There is also a design flaw behind the plastic piece you remove to change the passenger taillight. The metal behind there that’s at a 45 degree angle flexes and causes a thunk sound when going through dips and etc. there is a guy who figured out how to make it go away and it worked great. The newer models seem to have fixed this problem also bc the metal piece now runs straight across instead of at an angle
Just took my TH offroading near kanab, UT made it out to several slot canyons and an old ghost town with out any issue. Driving thru a Sandy wash on the way to peekaboo slot canyon was no issue and neither was getting out to buckskin gulch and wire pass. This little jeep can go almost anywhere with a little knowledge and some good all terrain tires. I recommend replacing the stock tires with the Cooper Discover AT3. H honestly that's the only thing you need to change.
"Remodeling the oil pan on a boulder" is not something I ever expected to hear from a rather professional review type video, but it's definitely effective :D
Considering the TH model has skid plates covering the oil pan, it doesn't really apply
My girlfriend's was a rental before and it had this weird banging under the car while riding. I look under it and her front end sway bar link was loose. You're right about idiots going too hard off road
Only rumble I had is from my MySky. The panel was loose from inside the roof. But it was something I did and it was covered under warranty. I had no other issues. I’m almost at 30,000 miles.
I am at the same mileage and my problem don’t stop this car is bleeding me dry
definitely have one checked out by an independent mechanic, not the place you're buying one from
Paid 20k for NEW! Nobody farts in it.
I vacuum my new cars so I can suck all the farts out
My 2016 was alway is in wrong gear around 35-40mph. When i did notice the issue I would switch to manual to find the right gear or just give a bit more throttle to get to a different gear.
The wrong gear syndrome has actually lessened significantly as our Jeep gets older and has been very reliable. This is our daily driver and we still love it. The Jeep is peppy in town and likes to be driven with a heavier foot.
Have you gone in for a software update? Sometimes that helps fix the problem. It helped my transmission because it was shifting hard into second gear.
I skipped the A/C check, because mine doesn't have it. But I got it brand new out the door for 13k so I'm not complaining.
4 years later and how is it now?
They are very good, although they depreciate quickly. That should make them a fine choice on the used market.
Brendan A. MacWade true fact mine is 5 months old paid $26 thousand and drop to $15.400.00 🤨
Paid 14k for a 2016 with 19 thousand miles. So far so good.
jhova187 hi! What state did you buy your car? That’s an awesome deal!
Paid $14,500 for a 2018 sport with 21K miles. Love it!
jackieeeeee That’s an awesome steal! How is the car treating you so far?
So, how did the dealers under warranty fix the "rumble"? If it's a common problem it should have a common fix, no?
Sold them a new car
The cooling fan issue is a recall and will be replaced. I usually go a quart of oil low once a month.
As in the AC won't work? Because I just bought mine and it was cold when I get drove it and so I didn't realize my ac was not working. I now am taking it in because I luckily have warranty.
Why is it using that much oil?
static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10187102-9999.pdf
They have issued a Recall that is supposed to address the oil usage. It's a software update that is supposed to help with drivetrain issues that lead to oil consumption. Check with your nearest dealer for the free update.
There are a couple of reasons for a rumble, I've had both. First was a pretty simple fix, but dealer charged a lot more than they should have. It's on the 2015 TH, it's the snorkel coming from the air filter box, if that's loose or disintegrated it will cause a rumble at certain RPM's. The other one was caused by bad front CV axles, but that took the dealer A LONG TIME to figure out, and I had a wobble that was the early indicator, and then a rumble on acceleration. It's a $1000 repair.
Thanks for sharing!
I had the same airbox snorkel rumble, fixed with zip ties!
Luv my Lil jeep renegade but can suggest... stay away from 2015 and 2016 model's!!! They have the most issues and also faulty engine mounts!! Jeep will not recall the engine mounts or take any responsibility for the cost yet they fully admit they are faulty/not safe at all 🤦!!! Lots of recalls on the early year renegades as well like issues with the fan and so on!!
You also don't need a expensive trailhawk to go off-road!! I have a 4x4 latitude model that has been through everything including several feet of water... it's a champ and does fine!! Being a free lance photographer at times I go places where there are no roads and/ or getting caught in some bad weather.... my little Jeep does just fine!!! I did upgraded tires tho to nobby off road ones!! Stock tires where down right awful off road!!!
Thanks for sharing!
I currently own a 2.0 turbo diesel 9 speed auto Renegade 2019. It’s still in warranty. I’ve been noticing the gearbox rumble around 50 - 60 kph. Have you got any tips about how should I proceed to take care of this issue? What causes it? What are the long term consequences? Thank you!
Get in under your warranty I've had them replace my long block free of charge because it was burning oil
Do not think that engine is available in the US. Not sure though.
I heard this is basically a Fiat Panda. Is this true?
Be aware that only the Trailhawk model comes with a spare tire.
Thanks for sharing!
My limited came with a spare
I told dealer I wouldn't buy unless I had a full-size spare in my latitude. Im sure I paid extra for it somewhere though
I can turn mine on 2015 renegade. And shift it to drive and drive off it rumbles. Should I worry
Define rumbles. If it vibrates when you’re stopped at a light or something, no. From what I’ve read a lot do it.
I like the shape of the jeep, shame the engine is useless. It would be great if had a Toyota, Suzuki or Honda engine 😁.
What like the diesel engine that was in the suzuki sx4 you mean?
I bought my car -4 I didn’t dare try the ac
Some Renegades with the 2.4L multi-air engine consume oil. So much so, numerous class-action lawsuits have been filed against Fiat/Chrysler. The vehicle can stall without warning due to low or no oil in the engine. FCA has issued a TSB claiming a certain amount of oil consumption is normal for this engine. They also recommend owners carry extra oil with them at all times...buyer beware
is the turbo one more reliable? less of a hassle?
118k on my 2016 Trailhawk and no oil consumption issues here.
@@stevengower ...consider your lucky...Renegades are Italian made junk...
@@MrMatsumoto0 The 1.4 turbo also uses oil, maybe not quite as bad as the 2.4. I have seen turbochargers go bad at 60,000 miles. If I had to choose 2.4 or 1.4T, I would go with the 1.4T. Pretty much every 2.4 I've worked on uses 1qt of oil every 1000 miles, give or take. The 1.3T engine is new, but I wouldn't expect any drastic quality increase from FCA on that.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee 2.4 multiair goes about 7,500 miles on a oil change, and uses less than 1/4 quart in between changes. This is with 125,000 miles on the vehicle.
I decided to not buy a Renegade; the transmission lagged between 1st and 2nd gear. Very annoying.
I had the same problem. Took it in for a software update and it fixed the problem. Have you tried that BJ?
Renegade rumble 😂. Check the clutch and flywheel first if you have the 1.4 manual, otherwise you’ll get stuck with a bill for $3800 like I did 😂😭
Ouch
Sammmeeeee! Mine the bushing went out of the flywheel which caused excessive wear on my clutch. Luckily my dealership had it good willed from jeep but I traded it off the week after I got it back for a Toyota Highlander! Do not regret that decision!
Don't waste your money on this piece of a junk of a car ...must admit I fell in love with the vehicle on sight ...it's the first expensive vehicle I've owned this far... Everything about this vehicle is so fragile .... Had to deal with occurring seat belt error messages , burnt out fans and more !!!! My 2 small KiA pecanto will put work this any day .... Worst vehicle ever !!!!!!
The fan issue is a recall. Mopar should have fixed it for free. They did mine.
G Scarlatti hey ok but I live in st Maarten not the USA we don’t have a Mopar here but I will inquire about this .... thanks
@@odessawantu no jeep/dodge dealers?
@@justmy2abelincolns272 yea we have a Jeep dealer and I have since looked into the recall and it should be taken care of but only the burnt out radiator fan issues ... my other issues I guess I will have to deal with myself.... my island is very hilly so now my 4 wheel drive is no longer working ! And in the door panels the upholstery has lifted ... this makes the vehicle looks old af... wish I could post pics but I have never had so much problems in a vehicle 🚗...
@@odessawantu I own my own shop in Los Angeles and a customer today had us change his ac filter which immediately caused a LOUD buzzing vibration when the ac was on .. turns out if even ONE single leaf gets into the ac blower motor when changing the filter, you’ll get this loud buzzing vibration with the hvac fan on. So stupid lol never have seen this is so many years in business.
nice vid but please lose the background music next time. or at least lower its volume.
WHY DO HOW-TO VIDEOS HAVE TO HAVE SO MUCH CRAPPY SOUND. JUST TALK, DAMMIT!
So basically check it for the same thing you would any used vehicle... check
Yeah I really want a Fiat Panda in disguise
It's a Fiat... Based on the 500 platform... The transmission is bad, recalled and there is no good replacement as I understand it... Not a good " Jeep". Don't buy it, you can get a much better vehicle for the money.
Hahahaha renegade rumble
Fix it again, tony
Fine Italian automotive technology.
Check oil regularly
I bought a new one in 18 and just traded it on another brand. The Renegade had almost 90,000 miles. Positives: decent in snow, very roomy for its size, looks “rugged” and unique. Negatives: notorious oil burner, has felt loose from day one, odd electrical glitches, underpowered, loud
As with any vehicle
The Jeep Renegade burn oil.
Are you speaking from experience? Because mine sure doesn’t.
Not a FIB Surveillance Van 2017 Rene Trailhawk, 68k miles, oil changes every 5,000 miles
Not a FIB Surveillance Van 😂😂😂
Yes it most certainly does. I have had my 2016 for four years now, and it goes through an entire extra quart between oil changes. I just deal with it. Good little jeep otherwise.
My Rav 4 does too. Looks like all new cars burn oil due to the light viscosity oils the use.
Trash. I was happy until 66,000 miles. Routine maintenance and oil changes. Still died. It is cute car. But never again Jeep Chrysler Dodge Fiat... I have been burnt to many times! Never own any of these vehicles more than a year or two then trade ASAP!!!
It's much easier to just buy a Toyota.
so its best to not buy this car... OMG
These cars are awful. So many electrical issues and quite frankly labor-intensive everything on this car. Such a terrible design to work on. Also very popular for intermittent issues of stalling and dead dash. Hard to pinpoint since it happens randomly and doesn’t happen again for a while!
I hate to admit it but you’re right. My clutch randomly burned out with no previous warning signs at all and it was over 16 hours of labor, and cost me nearly $3800. The flywheel alone was over $800. Beware of this car when it’s repair time. Also my locks randomly stop working, as does my horn, and constantly the backup lines on the camera disappear. All of which are fixed when you pull the battery cable and reinstall it. I shouldn’t have to do that to a 5 year old car.
Damn it. Mine has powered off on me twice at redlights in a week. The check engine light doesn’t come on. Could they still diagnose it at a dealership?

Are you kidding me, this thing is an absolute abortion of a vehicle. Anyone who buys this thing will be extremely disappointed with how many issues these things will have.
You have been warned, they are complete junk
mine has 89k on is and is perfectly fine. Then again...I check my oil regularly
2016, 160K miles. Never had the fan problem, no major issues.
2014 150k kilometers, perfect
4 wheel drive fiat 500.. junky car
I have a 500x 4x4,. Fantastic car can't fault it. What happened to yours?
@@bigteddy66 its a very cheaply made car (the ones that are made in mexico are the worst). I've had all sorts electrical problems and the engine was drinking oil. They are better made in Europe though.
@@itszargon6865 they are neither cheaply made nor built in Mexico. They are built in Italy. Mine is a diesel and the 2.4 is not available in UK ( I'm assuming thats what yours is).
@@itszargon6865 They are not made in Mexico they are made in Italy but they are crap. 2018 jeep renegade had 1 quart of oil left in the engine after 5000mi. Dealership said it was normal. The key also fails intermittently. Sometimes it won't let us open the door locks or lock the car. Sometimes while in the car the car will say "keybob has left the vehicle" when they key is literally sitting in the car. The dealer replaced the key's battery and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They told us not to put it close to phones. We religiously avoid putting the key near our phones and still the same problem. I would avoid these cars. I can't imagine how bad this car will fail when we have 50K miles on it.
