    My '15 Renegade mustard yellow Latitude has comfortable seating for my back and arthritic hips. It delivers about 27 mpg in highway driving. The interior is small, reminds me of a VW Beetle. The rear stowage area accommodates my walker very nicely. In nearly 7000 miles it's been a pleasant, fun vehicle to drive. No complaints with the 9 speed transmission. The Sirius XM radio is great, but I will not renew for $200/year.

    Great review, i got myself a black jeep renegade limited 2018 model its the 1.6 litre turbo diesel, in 6 speed manual. Got it in September 2023, seen one when camping in my country Scotland, and traded in my jaguar e pace for one, great car to drive and great mpg too, 65 mpg easy, best ive had so far is 83 mpg, has heated front seats and steering wheel to and its full leather, best car ive ever had and the comfiest too, totally adore the boxy jeep looks, looks cool quirky and meaty , amazing car, greetings from bonnie scotland 👍😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    I'm picking my omaha orange trailhawk model up from the dealership in two days. They had to bring it in from one of their other dealership branches because they didn't have exactly what I wanted. Luckily they had no problem acquiring one with the options I wanted. From multiple test drives at different places, it's gonna be a sweet ride!

    It's 2:15am and I stumbled on your review and I really enjoyed it. It was both informative and entertaining. I was thinking about getting a Renegade but I need to get a vehicle a little larger than this. I would like to do Uber or Lyft in my spare time so I need to be able to transport people in the back seats comfortably. But hey, it's a subcompact so it's not supposed to be roomy. Other than that, it looks really fun to drive.

    Yeah , we just got one , Mopar Green ! very loud color , and everyone will say that ! Maybe it's just me , but i think the trans selector in manual should have the + and - reversed . When down shifting , one would think to " pull back " on the stick , not push forward . and the tire rims stick out too far , every curb you touch will scratch it really bad ! So far so good though .

    How is your '15 Renegade holding up after your current mileage? I am into this Jeep because it satisfies my wants for a small adventure vehicle (sub-compact SUV, off-road ability, acceptable on-road manners, practical for its category). The only thing discouraging me from the Renegade is the reliability. Any issues should I be worried about when owning this vehicle?

    • @averageguytested
      @averageguytested  Před 5 lety +1

      I still have my 15 TrailHawk with 66k miles on it and I’ve had no issues. I drive it hard too. The only thing that I’ve heard is a flaky transmission. Mine hates stop and go traffic. I’d say go for it.

    My wife traded in her 2007 f150 LaRiat for, at the time, new 2015. She loves that thing, and she has it all decked out with lights, bull bars, lifts, tires, etc. We've had one major problem with it, the sky roof quit working one day and could not get it to close. Our Jeep dealership (Deihl Autom. in Pittsburgh) was nice enough to take it and kept it indoors. They kept the jeep at the dealership for three weeks and had to bring a JEEP Engineer to look at the problem because JEEP did not believe this was happening. I had just purchased an extended warranty a few days before the Manuf. warranty had expired. All I can say is thank God I did! - They fixed it and has been working perfectly since. The other little inconvenient issue we've had is with the lock/unlock fob and dash not working. I've lucked out by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting after 60 seconds. She loves her yellow jeep...

      MPG is something that keeps me from getting this car. I like it but it should do a much better MPG with 4 cylinder and 9 speed. All new bigger Jeep Compass beats it. Gas is cheap now so it is not an issue but since this is my second car and I plan to use it to commute to work I don't want to get killed when gas goes up back to $4 or $5 (and sooner or later it will).

    Great review. It’s nice to see a review where the driver isn’t crapping all over the Renegade. For some reason, the Renegade gets treated like the red headed step child of the Jeep family and I don’t know why. I think Jeep nailed it. It’s basically the Wrangler’s little brother who gets better mpg. Great review. Gave us the good and the bad without dwelling on the bad for half the video like some other reviewers do. Thank you. Renegade is definitely on my short list of vehicles to test along with the newly designed Compass.

    In the fall of 2017 I purchased a new 2017 Jeep Renegade from a dealer in Anchorage Alaska. I live in a remote Alaskan town with the closest mechanic over 100 miles away - in Canada. I made it clear to the dealer I needed a reliable, sturdy vehicle. The car was fine until the temperature dropped below 20F then it would start - and immediately stall with a noticeable smell of gas. I called the dealer and he recommended using Heet and blamed the bad gas in the town. Heet did nothing and no other car is having the same problem. The dealer is over 700 miles away and I can't have the car towed back. There's no one to work on it here and the dealer is unwilling to do anything more. The car is a princess car - it'll only run if it's warm and sunny. Which means i'm walking to work at 20 below. Moral is don't buy Jeep and don't buy a Jeep Renegade. As soon as possible I'm taking it to another town to trade it in for a Japanese or Korean car. Something reliable.

    Had a 2017 limited as a rental - liked it overall but with 3 gripes... 2.4L engine vibrated so bad at a stop light that you got a body massage at the same time. I didn't want a body massage, I wanted peace and quiet. Too many speeds to the transmission which is an issue on the highway when you want to accelerate and it needs to drop down a couple / three / four just to climb a few MPH. Lastly the hidden tailgate latch with NO remote or inside release. Fix those and I'd very seriously consider buying one.

    I have had a Jeep Renegade since sept 26, 2015. it's jeep yellow and a trailhawk loaded. (No removeable roof) didn't want one. Never owned a Jeep (my son has a 2000 wrangler I drove for about 5 years) love the Jeep concept. This one is now 27 months old and has 23K on the odo, I have nothing bad to say about this small SUV other then it has had the normal things that you get with a new model, recalls and adjustments that were needed and small little repairs they made but other than that it runs well and is a very well thought out SUV. My wife & I love the car and will get a 2018 as long as they still come in Yellow! I had read that the car was slow and underperforms on the expressway. This is HOGWASH! It has 180 HP and runs like my 99 corvette did. I fly with this SUV on acceleration passing everything from a light or passing on the HWY. Maybe mine is a freak but that 9 speed Trans really performs better than expected. Here we are 2&1/2 years later and we are still in love with this car. I hope this review helps with making a decision on whether to buy one or not. I say go for it! I also own a Chevy Silverado & an Avalanche that we keep parked until we need a truck, they are 4 wheel drive also but the jeep renegade works well for us around town and on the highway.

    I have a 2015 Renegade Latitude FWD with a 6-speed manual transmission. I love it. I would never waste the 2 grand on 4WD. Not enough snow to need it in Indianapolis. I would advise anyone not to bother with a Sport model. As soon as you add the air and power package, you might as well just get a base Latitude model like mine. The manual mated with the 1.4(?) Turbo to me is the best combination. It's a smooth shifting stick and the engine responds well.

    1) Cup holders in the back seat in a $30K car is not unreasonable request, however, it's not a deal breaker. 2) Want more storage for long camping trips? Get a roof rack/basket, and it makes the jeep look a little more rugged. 3) My Trailhawk gets 26+ mpg, if you commute 100 miles a day, your gona have to gas up frequently. Given the only car I have ever owned that got better gas millage was a 3 cylinder Geo Metro, I think it's doing pretty damn good. Other than that, good review. Cheers mate.

  • @Hoenhyme
    @Hoenhyme Před 7 lety +2

    Hey I loved the video! Got to get those Nature Breaks in lol.
    I have a white 2016 4x4 Renegade Latitude 75th Anniversary edition. I love the look of the front, the back a little less so. A twenty minute test drive as I have learned is not enough time to really get to know a vehicle. So after I bough mine I was some what disappointed around the 2nd week in.
    The auto transmission does drive the vehicle so that is a plus... I guess... but this transmission will also drive you... MAD.
    No cup holders in the back and in my opinion the middle fold down in the back that does have cup holders should have been a standard feature.
    The yellow Jeep in the review had the seats I absolutely cannot stand. I seen a few while I was shopping for my Jeep. What is wrong with the seats you may ask, well the light writing that says Jeep all over the seat is so awkward looking it's terrible.
    I was a little angry at first with the results I got from gas mileage. I go on business trips every once in a while and the rating on the Renegade says up to 29 miles per gallon.
    Ok most vehicles I have owned did get a mile or two more than what it was rated as. So on a 400 to 500ish mile trip I managed 27.1 miles per gallon. I was trying my hardest to reach that 29 so I was stressing myself out not going over 60 and just babying the Jeep but barely managed over 27 mpg. I traded in a 2016 Mustang GT with 435 HP for this thing and the Mustang made it to 27.7 mpg but was only rated for around 25 mpg highway.
    So about a month passed I put more miles on the Jeep and something weird started happening, I began to like it more. Went on vacation about the same mileage as the business trip but now I had a couple thousand miles on this thing. It hit 29.2 mpg, that's the best I got but hey I passed the 29 mph highway mark and was pretty thrilled.
    I had received a 2016 Dodge Charger 5.7 Liter Hemi as a rental car about 9 months ago for another business trip before I owned the Jeep. I still remember the gas mileage this thing got, because I thought it was going to be low 23 to 25 mpg. No! It got 29.8 mpg... what?! It did have a feature to cut 4 cylinders out on the highway when cruising but I was still shocked which made the 29.2 from my Jeep seem pathetic.
    I still like my Jeep, one feature that made me smile is that one of the fog lights will turn on at night when you turn the wheel to make a sharp turn. Also if you have the blinker on before turning, once your speed decreases enough the fog light will pop on to provide more illumination to where you are planning to turn.
    I say if they fix the auto transmission and give it a little more umph, another 10 to 15 HP or get the weight down a bit it would be good. Oh and please all the little grills and writing like the "Push to start your adventure" crap near the push start, get rid of some of that. They have put a lot in there and it is a bit much.

    The 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk SUV has a recurring
    power seat problem that prevents the use of the 8-way and lumbar functions. The
    problem causes the driver seat to freeze and lock into a position on the seat
    floor tracks. This could create a serious
    problem in the event of an emergency. The dealer service department is
    clueless on fixing the problem.

    Lovely car. Pity about the cup holders. You'd think by now they'd put a potty seat in cars. I mean, what if you are lost or in heavy traffic and you get a bad stomach cramp? You can't just hold it in. Especially since you've been munching on chocolate.

    nice review, I adore the looks until the new Jeep compass from India came out which solves the back seat and boot space. the only thing that worries me is the reliability of the Jeep. already recalls made for the compass with serious gearing issues. in general if you're not going speeds above 120km/hr you don't need the 9th gear which ironically most of the fuel saving happens in that gear. in regards to the renegade the speakers might be Lauder or better in the 2015 models but then each model is different.
