      I'm a big fan of all your videos... you've helped me tremendously on repairing my 2005 Vue. I noticed that on your engine mount video that you didn't mention the drivers side Trans mount next to the wheel. Just incase you were unaware of it, I found mine to be disintegrated. But your video was a big help on the other 3 mounts.
      I really appreciate it.
      Keep up the good work!

      @@devilsadvocate701 Thank you!
      Yes, there is an additional trans mount (depending on the trans), my MJ8 has one. Not sure what the other models have, but google suggests they look a little different form each other.
      Mine is pretty solid, I checked before heading to the scrapper, but you're right, I did neglect to mention it.

    Hey, so I have a little issue… I’m running spacers on my car (don’t worry there installed properly with the right torque specs, with good clearance when it comes to the studs, good contact with the wheels and with high quality spacers) and I’m running after market used wheels and I just noticed that some of them was slightly bent. So what happen was, I brought them to a tire shop to get them balanced and noticed the wheel was shaking a little left and right on the balancer. The guy managed to kind of rectify it by balancing them properly and making them safe to use but there was on wheel that he couldn’t do anything bout it because the wheel was just to bent that balancing that wheel wouldn’t do anything. Now I want to install the wheels that seems worst in the back and the better ones in the front but the thing is my car is rwd so if I accelerate, it would put a lot of pressure in the back… Well that’s my thinking anyways. Would it be safe to run it like this? with the one dat seem worst in the back and the better ones in the front? By the way, the damage is extremely minimal, you can’t notice it just by looking at the wheel unless it’s spinning at high speeds and I have really good tires, toyo proxes st3’s for all 4.So would it be safe to run it like that or just to do the opposite and deal with the shaking even tho it would be annoying, so the good wheels in the back and bad ones in the front?

      @krneki111 Před 29 dny

      if the wheel is so bent that the car is shaking, I'd replace it.

    Hey does the vibration also cause a noise kinda like a thud that happens twice each rotation?

    When cornering. Wouldnt the weight be on the outside. Opposite to where you are turning

    Thanks for this. How much "variance" w/ in the rim that is tolerable - in this that you would live w/ (and still do full rotations, front to back etc.)?

      What do you have? and what made you think to check? is there evidence of uneven tire wear?

      @@TutorialGenius These are '21 Tacoma TRD Pro Wheels (unfortunately I think they are cast aluminum alloy and not flow formed") PT946-35200-02. After a few years, I started having balance problems. Finally local and trusted tire guy (now more trusted) on a balancing session said, "We had to move the two worst offenders back to the back so you won't feel them - as two of your wheels are bent"
      WTH!? I thought - going over in mind - I actually use my Tacoma off road, and deal w/ occasional pothole, etc. like everyone else on roads (I had no idea how best allow wheels are a common thing out there). Don't know when but somehow both wheels got bent. Your video method test revealed - they are "egg shaped" sometimes as much as like 6" on the curve.
      I couldn't believe my tire guy was that right. After DIY Oil change & rotation I put the offending tires on the front - bad steering wheel shakes showed up again (so I did your test to confirm).
      I think Toyota's latest version are now flow formed. But I was already committed. Wheel repair guy ha stew same wheels. H told me to order replacement vs him fixing them, while he was working on $7000 magnesium wheels 🙄 - wow - had no idea wheels could even cos that much .

      @@TutorialGenius No apparent uneven wear yet. Steering wheel vibrating/shakes. Somehow over a couple years of actual real truck use the '21 Tacoma TRD Pro wheels PT946-35200-02 - I believe they are actually cast aluminum alloy and not flow formed. My tire guy told me two wheels were bent - I was suspect. Your test revealed he was dead on, unfortunately. Two are "egg shaped" shaped... maybe a section of 6" that is flatter. Had no loss of air or anything. Wheel repair place (he owns the same wheels) price proved not to be effective. He advised to just order new wheels. He's currently working $7000 magnesium wheels 😮

      @tim3308 Před 13 dny

      Btw, until going down this rabbit hole of bent allow wheels I had no idea how common it is... of course no surprise w/ very low profile tires that are in now, but I have massive sidewalls w/ 265/75/r16 tires... yet, no flats, no ail leaks and I still ended up w/ bent wheels - I can't swear I didn't hit /slam something, but you'd think one would remember and event like that... there I read, the more that seemed often not the case.😒

    I had no vibration or pulling on my car until l got new tires. Went back to another America's tire to have them check balancing, so they rebalanced all tires. Still vibrating bad at 45 miles to 60mph. So l went back to original America's tire who put them on. They said l have 3 bent rims and showed me how bad one tire is wobbling. 3 tires. ....???? They put the worst on the back and l still have bad vibration. My old tires had 0 irregular wear and car drove fine. I am afraid to drive on freeway now and think they somehow bent the rims. I asked him why if they were so bent it was not brought to my attention upon mounting the tires new and why did their other store not tell me when they rebalanced? He said maybe too busy...What!!!! Someone is covering up here. I am so pissed about this and l have been getting tires for all my cars here for years. Lately they suck and l also have a break line leak after they fixed a nail in the back tire months before. They deny that one, but my garage floor doesn't lie. Took me a minute to figure it out, but l did...Help is shit now a days and that tire place is now dead to me.

    The vise+screw driver is a more expensive combo than a rotational dial measuring tool.

    • @TutorialGenius
      @TutorialGenius  Před 4 měsíci

      But you don't need a vice. You can use a brick or a book. I said this at 3:41

    • @Druze_Tito
      @Druze_Tito Před 4 měsíci

      @@TutorialGenius How would you hold the screwdriver on a book or brick? The idea of vise is ok only if you already have one. Otherwise, for a meaningful measurement you need a dial tool which is pretty cheap on ebay nowadays.
      I give you the props for the effort though.

      You place it on the book or brick. The handle is heavier. That's it. You don't need to hold it@@Druze_Tito

      If your car has been sitting, yes the internal steel can bend. That would be the likely culprit in that instance.
