I think this is the “therapist” Amber set up her cover story with, playing her like a fiddle. In last week’s testimony they brought up some therapist who’d said she believed Amber’s various claims that she “never egged it on” and “only picked herself up” after his beatings. She seemed like a demented nutcase herself supporting Amber’s deception, from the notes they brought up in testimony, even if she was just deceived herself. She has the vibe I would expect.. Is this her?

Dr Curry was fair in her assessment. She presents the facts and everyone comes up with their conclusions. This other DR wants to be a meme. Dr Curry was understood and thorough. Lets present one more fact: Dr Curry is a baddie.
Yeah this lady is a joke. Plus she ignored the notes of the nurses and doctors that said Amber had no signs of trauma or injuries relating to abuse or of any kind. She supposedly based her whole assessment off of what Amber said and everyone else's notes and testimony, but she completely ignored any that made Amber look bad or at fault or like she was the abuser. It was clear as day how biased she was and how she sided with Amber because she was paid to and had worked with her attorneys in the past. They probably picked her because they knew she could be bought and would present "facts" that portrayed Amber in a positive light. I'm glad one of Johnny's attorneys called her out on it some. But I wish he would have focused on that more, or at least more intensely.

when johnny’s lawyer pointed out that she was referring to victims of domestic violence as she and her, she tried to be like well yeah bc it pertains to this case, showing her immediate bias. dr curry was describing whatever the diagnosis and symptoms would be for any person and not even just amber heard which she could’ve easily, so unlike this psychologist that amber hired, she didn’t create a scenario in the jury’s mind unconsciously

I love how Dr. Curry specifically said in her testimony that as a psychologist in her position, you shouldn't make a testimony in court about someone that is your client, because you will take a side and that is your client. She kept her testimony so neutral, kept it professional by not taking any sides and just told the jury what she found in her testing on Amber. She explained it very well, showed that the test was very thorough and what she found meant for Amber's behavior and mental state. Dr. Karen over here is obviously biased and takes Amber's side, which indicates that her testimony isn't legit in this case. She is a complete joke compared to Dr. Curry.

No matter who you believe in this fiasco, that psychologist who testified on Heard's behalf was THE most unprofessional supposed doctor I've ever seen in a courtroom. She stated everything as if it were verifiable fact. Even just opinions of other psychologists, if they favored Heard, she stated as fact. She sounded more like a close friend or relative defending her loved one blindly than a professional answering questions in a court room. It was really odd.

I forced myself to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking she'd at least try to be unbiased like Dr. Curry, but MAN, the red flags were so hard to ignore. That's when I KNEW for a fact this woman had no business calling herself an expert.

Honestly Johnny Depp's best move here was letting this trial be publicized. Even if he somehow loses this, dude's gotten SOOOO much support from the general public now that he literally has to start getting hired on again. Might lose in court due to technicalities, but the Court of Public Opinion has already decided their winner based on Heard's just lackluster defense team.
As far as the public watching this trial is concerned over 90% are for JD going by the CZcams's and Twitter comments alone. This is big win already for JD as far as rehabilitating his image and Hollywood will take a note of this

She did not do her job...to find out truth, one must go beyond the one and only 'victim'. If you do not do this for analysis, then it shows a targeted bias for Amber and against her antagonist.
Because she's not a psychiatrist and doesn't prescribe medical treatment.
Dr. Curry is an extremely sharp and intelligent lady, who knows her profession inside and out. Dr. Hughes completely lost me with her bias and insinuation that the abuser was always the male and abused always the female. She was pushing that narrative far too hard and came across way too invested in defending Amber rather than just ‘presenting the science’ as Dr. Curry did. It’s interesting that now Amber’s testimony is underway, we see that Dr. Curry has described the nuances of her personality to a T.
Amber’s testimony and lack of credible witness corroboration from police etc, lack of medical records detailing injuries and other such things have already proven Dr Curry to be completely correct. That other psychologist is a disgrace and I hope her reputation suffers after this

One point I've seen someone make is that the psychologist said that you don't use the percentile test because it only applies to victims of trauma. Which is what Dr. Curry was evaluating since Amber said she is a victim of trauma.
You never heard Doctor Curry talk about what her findings actually inferred, she just proved her points by allowing the people listening to put the pieces together, like a professional psychologist testifying should. However this woman is so unbelievably biased that she makes herself look unprofessional by on the spot theorising about things that Johnny very clearly didn’t do.

Her responses suggest that she either is consciously trying to be manipulative, or lacks insight to a degree that is alarming. Being the therapist doesn't mean throwing awareness and accountability out the window... or ethics for that matter.

Finally someone explains correctly why Dr. Curry used this specific test. It is for some people very easy to see through some tests espacially when they had done them already - there for some personality inventories are constructed with a low level of face validity, what means the tested one doesn't know that easily, what the test temps to measure.
This psychologist is a huge liar. She contradicted herself and Amber's lawyers so many times. Not to mention that she's also extremely biased and sexist.
Edit: I would also like to add that she did say men could be victims of abuse too which is fact. However, after that she used pronouns which implicated that she believes only women can be victims of abuse. She also said that size was a huge factor when it comes to perpetuating abuse (SO FALSE AND WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS) and that men are much bigger than women so therefore they can't be victims. There's so much more sexist statements in Dr. Hughes testimony but that stands out the most considering how absurd and stigmatizing that is to men who are abuse survivors. She also said that she considered amber heard hitting JD as minor violence so therefore it doesn't count as abuse. Which invalidates many abuse survivors experiences.

As a professional I think showing her thought process was valuable. The reason why I didn't find her professional is because she didn't provide everything she had to the court (no matter how big or small it was) and was not objectively repeating what Amber said. Since she is a person who supports DV victims and utilizes a harm reduction model, believing the person to provide them support is great IMHO BUT I don't know how she's testified in court with the way she talks as if she was there at every instance she's alleging to the jury is true, reading notes, and acting kind of rude towards everyone including the judge. She's definitely gonna be dragged in the court of public opinion for the messy way she's presented herself in court today.

She's much more clear, concise, confident and generally goes into a lot more explanation and gave reasonable reasoning not to do exactly what this person is stating they're doing and being paid $500 an hour, no less. If not….a psychologist cannot comment professionally on a person who is not present who they have not directly evaluated. No psychologist would do this. That is diagnosis by proxy. It is considered scientific malpractice. Any clinical professional would be struck off by their professional body.
She also, speaks too much and overloads the listener with data. Uses excessive jargon. The jury likely won’t know what standard deviation is. Also speak clearly, why say symptomatology instead of just ‘symptoms’. She also uses terms I’ve never heard of. She’s also wrong on what a personality disorder is. It need not pervade all areas of life.
She is plain wrong on some basic facts given that I know the literature. She’s painting a biased picture. This lady can only be from a cheap back street practice.

Im still a student, but I already know there's a heavy focus on effective communication (you tailor your language to your audience so no-one is confused, even explaining terms if necessary) in both scientfific research, and as a Therapist. In both science and therapeutic practice it is considered professional to show the utmost, genuine, respect for all parties involved. Dr Curry did all of the above. This Psychologist did not.

Heard's taking notes is simply copying what others are doing around her, to give her some sort of credibility for being 'intelligent' - as if she knows what she's doing! She's probably writing "The cat sat on the mat" hundreds of times over, just to impress people viewing the trial - I think she considers herself on equal par with the lawyers (but in the case of hers, I tend to agree with her). Dr. Curry stated facts best on tests that have scales. The other "Expert" gave testimony as if she was a high schooler gossiping with other friends. Very opinionated and biased. And as you can see from Dr. Curry here as the other Expert was testifying, Dr. Curry's body language and she was taking it all down, writing notes. That is the look of a person that you should not mess with. She will be ready for the redirect tomorrow.
i'm assuming depps lawyers will call her back to the stand, to defend herself... the notes will come in handy.. Dr Curry seems like she likes to be prepared, whence the note taking.

The way both doctors presented themselves is like night and day.
Dr Curry - Professional, precise, thorough. She was clinical with her diagnosis.
Dr Hughes - Unprofessional (sighing and rolling her eyes at objections, throwing her notes at Johnny's lawyers), not using the psych evals correctly, leaving pertinent information off. Dr Hughes seemed to be led by Amber's emotions instead of being objective while conducting her tests.

Yes because, as we all know, repeatedly punching, throwing things, and even slicing off part of a finger, are all very, very minor actions if you're a woman doing this to a man. However, if the exact same things were done by a man to a woman, it would be catastrophic and clear evidence of a very violent man who is potentially lethally dangerous to his partner.
As we all know, actions only matter if they fit an agenda. In this case, the agenda that because she's a woman, obviously Amber is the victim and anything she did is so small it shouldn't have even been brought up really-- it's clearly a waste of the court's time.

I work in a profession where people commonly assume that the longer you've been in my profession the better you will be at your job. The reality is that more often than not you can be stuck in very old theories and methods and ways of working. I think this is what we see going on here between this "Dr" and Dr Curry. If you read this doctors training profile on her own website, her last training was in 2018. That is absolutely diabolical for a doctor. Dr Curry has been in training to keep herself up-to-date every 6 months minimum. That says a lot about someone's commitment to their role but also, the arrogance of this woman to clearly think she knows it all and is at the peak of her knowledge and career

The psychologist just owned herself with her explanation why the percentile rank shouldn't be used. If the distribution is normed around abuse survivors, that means the the 50% mark is the average responce of abuse victims. And if it's negatively scaled that means that the distribution of scores is grouped towards the "bottom scores". Therefore, if Amber scored in the 98th percentile on this scale, that means that she displayed a far greater degree of exaggeration compared to average abuse survivors than if the distribution was a normal distribution. Aka, this just means she's an even bigger lier than you would assume based on that score.
Edit: someone corrected me that I mixed up negative and positive skews. Positive skews are what I described so its actually the opposite of what I said. But I would argue that the Amber scoring on the 98th percentile is still a valid point if this percentile is based on a cumulative calculation rather than based on the standard deviation of the distribution. If it's cumulative then that means that she still is in the top 2% of people in terms of exaggeration.
Yeah. She clearly doesn't know how statistics works. But, she's extremely biased (and not just toward heard), so its expected she would try to throw shade at the other psychologist. Well, she probably also made enemies with every other psychologist who was watching it at the time, but hey, she's gotta do what she's paid to do. To throw shade at all males who ever declared abuse from female abusers, and throw shade at other psychologists using newer data, science, and techniques.
I too think she is very biased and her explanation didn´t make sense regardless but a negative skew means that the "tail" of the curve es more to the lower side. That means that there are more higher results than in a standard distribution.
Incorrect. It is the opposite as she clearly explained. Negatively skewed by definition means that the left tail is longer and that if you normalize appropriately (as you should), Amber would not be in the 98th percentile. You can not use terminology such as percentile rank when describing results relative to a curve that is not normal which is why it is not supported by the diagnostic manual. The witness' response is self-consistent and was not what you claim. However, it is simply irrelevant to what Dr. Curry actually tried to say which is typical misdirection.
I think this dr Hughes exposed herself not as an objective forensic fact finder for the court, but someone who’s clearly heavily biased and attempting to advocate on behalf of amber rather then simply provide her own expert opinions. Just look at the difference in her testimony, and dr curry. Dr curry was not adversarial towards amber whatsoever, she wasn’t advocating for jd at all, and she was simple and concise, and she also didn’t need to read from a script to get through her testimony, which any supposed professional witness such as dr Hughes claims would know first and foremost that you are not allowed to do this. Dr curry didn’t also try and provide a narrative through the lens of providing some expert analysis by engaging in literal hearsay such as this doctor did. I mean the almost entire portion of her testimony on direct was her as an expert witness providing to the jury supposed detailed accounts of violence and abuse proported by mr depp as if she was an actual witness to any of the events she was talking about or had some sort of corroborating evidence when she almost entirely was going directly off of what amber heard reported, and then using her position as expert witness to then repeat the allegations amber heard had made to her as if they were concrete fact. I’m sure as flustered and flippant as she was getting at the mere thought of being interrupted by the objections etc the cross examination will literally tear her entire testimony apart and also seek to fluster her in a manner that shows to the jury she isn’t simply some expert providing an opinion that differs from the one dr curry gave but someone directly attempting to advocate for amber heard.
Sadly if the jury are full of idiots none of them will know this

This psychologist testified that JD did xyz... it's not the psychologists job to testify that someone else did something that they never even witnessed. She can say AH told her that Johnny did xyz, but she cannot confirm that JD did something based on what someone else said, especially if she did not evaluate him. Dr Curry even stated that it was not the psychologists' job to determine whether someone commited a crime, that was the investigator's job. If the jury was paying attention, they will remember that detail.
