This subwoofer is just perfect for me! I'm returning my pair of PB-1000s to pick up a pair of these. Dual ports, 12" woofer with logo, increased power, NO Front LED!!, App controlled w/DSP, and SoundPath Adapter connection.
I like that you added a reference show to check out. "Dark" is great. PB sub all the way!

Have dual PB 1000s (non pro) in my bedroom and couldn't be happier. Saving for dual 16s for living room and feel like a little kid waiting for Santa at the tender age of 54 😆 Wish they had speaker inputs and outputs so that I could also use them (16 Ultra) with my old receiver that I use strictly for music in the same room and would love to use them with that as well as my modern system.
Mike. Thanks for your comments. If your vintage receiver has preamp out and amp in (a lot of old ones had jumpers there) you could use many of the SVS subs that way. Thanks for watching

Interesting how at the beginning of the video (~1:00 mark) there's a discussion about "the myth" of sealed vs ported, and then at the end (~8:00), the recommendation is for a sealed sub for music and a ported sub for movies. LOL. No judgment, just noting an observation.
I mean, the physics are pretty straightforward. A sealed enclosure allows for no port turbulence noise, no mechanical noise from the inside of the cabinet to escape through the port, and the sealed volume of air acts as a fluid spring for the driver which can help with transient response.
With a ported enclosure, your sub is less ideal/perfect, but with a high Qms/Qts in the driver, and a well-designed port, the weaknesses of a ported enclosure become less obvious. You also gain deeper extension without loss of output down to the tuning frequency.
The truth is that sealed subwoofers are always ideal over ported, if you have an infinite budget. I doubt that anyone would want for bass output with 8, 24-in sealed subs in their theater. For most of us mortals though, ported is the way to go for home theater to get that super deep tactile bass on a reasonable budget

I still haven't seen a comparison between the SVS PB 1000 and the new PB 1000 Pro anywhere on the web. So odd that there isn't a comparison between the new and old. They're still selling the PB 1000 and it's about half price of the 1000 Pro, so it really is a question of, is it worth the extra money for the 2" extra and app interface?!
Great review but I think you should have skipped the part of explaining what is a seal and what is a ported subwoofer and include the specs of both
Well, objectively speaking, if you are looking for a straightforward answer, then in my personal experience with our PB1000 Pro is that the default-10 is a great starting point for getting good bass after having done the Automated Calibration first.
Our AVR-X2700 set -7db sub trim after the Calibration and then I dialed back in the SVS app from-15 for Calibration purposes to now using the default-10.
Balanced and authoritative when it needs to be. Sometimes, depending upon content, I'd push it completely and set -4 or -5 to really get room shaking output.

My room is on 1200 cubic feet then. Main speakers are the xtz cinema m8 then. Are a sealed sub better then a ported in that room space.?.

Is a sealed sub (or duals) ever recommended for a large space, for example, a living room in an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings? I'd estimate around 5000 or 6000 cubic feet total. I've heard they tend to have tighter bass than ported. I mostly watch movies with occasionally music listening.
You should go with ported subs basing on your criteria. With your space dimensions you should at minimum buy PB3000 preferably 2 of them.
If I hadnt already bought the PB3000 6 months ago I would be getting dual 1000 pros
Don't worry about it. We own a PB1000 Pro for our newly built acoustically treated dedicated theater having dimensions of 16x12x9 feet. It rocks at default-10 and blows away all of us at times at seriously loud-4 to -5 in the app. This is when I am watching movies at close to reference like -5 or even reference volume 0db.
The basis of my decision was after having experienced the dual PB3000s installed in a theater room of dimensions 28x18x8 feet and fell for it's power and output, girth aside, it's almost brutal!
You should compare with the outgoing 1000

Interesting. For me it was the opposite. I like the SB version more, but hope they will make a non-shiny version. I don't need any reflective surfaces in my Home Theater...

If I want to utilize a setup with 2 subs in a large room (580 Sq. Feet); is it better to take 2 ported subs or would it be better/smarter to take 1 ported and 1 sealed so I have the best of both world and maybe they can supplement eachother?

Hi, I have new flagship Denon AVC110 Great. Setup using a mic. After watching many youtube post now decided to set up a manual. Great. My question is my 2ch music has SVS 1000 Pro and B&W CDM9 I have set Sub + Mains and Front speaker to large with cross-over set at 80Hz. I have set my films to all speakers small and the subwoofer only cross-over 80Hz. my side speakers are CDM1 B&W and all my speakers are wired 5.1 Bi-amp. Any tips or advice I could consider trying out would be great full.

hi - what would you recommend for a small room with Qacoustics concept 20.
Room = 4m x 3,5m = 13ft x 11,5ft.
Qacoustics concept 20 driver = 12,5 cm = 5 inches. (64 Hz +/- ? db).
Music only (Denon dm39, 2 x 30W).
It's my first subwoofer. My budget 600€.

How does this compare to the older pb-2000? :)

My closed room is just under 1500 cubic feet. It is 20 feet long by 9 feet wide by 8 feet tall. Would the SB1000 Pro be suitable? I am worried that the bass waves are a lot longer than my room and would stay in the room and cause distortion (standing waves?). Should I go for a much smaller sub? Thank you for your advice.

@@photomusicman9413 Two of the SB1000 would work well. You could place them asymmetrically on the front wall or one in the front and one in the back, they would not need to be out of phase

Just received mine. A LITTLE disappointed that I get a rattle/mechanical noise when playing a 20hz test tone at 70 out of 80 on my Marantz SR5010 after Audyssey XT calibration (only distance and level for subs). So I just ordered a second one to help reduce that.

Haha super 4some man! Lol can't wait to get me 2 as I have a pair of the older pb 2000 in living room which are great. I'm totally upgrading in basement from a 12 year old 65" samsung to an 83" LG C2, same with yummy avr to a denon x2800 with a Panasonic ub820. Keeping all the polk speakers LCR and 2 surrounds and adding 2 heights. Seating is against rear wall so no sense adding more, but it will thump with immersion!

I would NEVER mix sealed and ported subs. I tried that with one of my movie rooms, and it was disastrous. I had an SB-2000 and a PB-2000, AND I ended up removing one of them, as it was noticeably louder than having both. SVS talks about this online. Check it out.
Go with ported subs, it'll go deeper and louder. But if your space is limited buy sealed subs , they are smaller. The sealed subs sounds good too.
How do you define a small room vs a large room? My home theater space is roughly 12' x 8,' but within a larger open space of around 16'x 20'. I'm thinking a single sealed sub would be adequate?
