I agree, but I think many women struggle to see themselves as pretty past these trends. Personally I recommend looking at different great beauties in all types of times and cultures. Interestingly the likelihood is that you will find one that is pretty close to how you look. And then that lets you consider the standards that made that true and their style. Look for things that are potentially uplifting and not terribly downgrading with over the top critiques. It's far more mentally healthy.

Please don't us God's Name in vain, Exodus 20:7.
Lord Jesus Christ is coming back everyone, please don’t worship celebrities and entertainment, focus on Him alone. I promise there’s more to life than money, partying, homosexuality and music. Hell is real, repent from sinning confess your sins and ask God to forgive you, I know He will if you’re sincere. Hell is very hot, people please repent! In the mighty name of Lord Jesus Christ, Amen 🙏💪✝️💜❤️✝️!
Idolatry such as, Islam, Catholicism, Sangomaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Racism, Santa Clausism, Confucianism, New Age, Science, Evolution, halloweenism, Harry Potterism, Politics, Donald Trumpism, Easter Bunnyism and other religions/faiths that are outside Biblical Christianity lead to hell! Don’t believe them, believe the Almighty God the Father of Lord Jesus Christ, who begot Him. Our Creator, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is mighty, He doesn’t need a woman to beget a son, He is God. I choose to put my faith in a God who can do anything and everything, a God who has unlimited and infinite power to beget!
So, it’s time to confess that Lord Jesus Christ is the Lord and to believe that He died and rose from the grave after three days and you shall be saved if you only obey Him by praying, worshipping, praising, reading the Bible and living holy and righteously according to the Bible. You have to endure until the end, carry your cross daily and build your relationship with God by following Lord Jesus daily until the end. You must never renounce your faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, there’s hell awaiting those who reject/deny Lord Jesus Christ and those who continue living sinfully, even the Christians who don’t want to repent will face the same fate, so please repent beloved people, in Lord Jesus Christ’s mighty and precious Name, Amen.

They are so meaningless and only really exist inside a tiny screen. honestly, i just wish i could stop caring if i'm pretty or not. life is so much more than just being percieved as beautiful. you can be cute, you can be ugly, the reality is that it does not really matter; standards are majorly influenced by the economy of the society we live in, for example now that plastic surgery is so accessible the "rules of beauty" are constantly changing just so you could spend more money on retouching your face/body. i don't really know if anyone will ever read this, but i promise you that you could be the most gorgerous person in the world to somebody just because of your personality or wisdom, or simply because they love you. remeber, please, that you are loved no matter what.

    • @doraaaa0613
      @doraaaa0613 Před rokem +9

why must we call ourselves ugly in the first place? beauty is subjective and these trends prove it. going from extremely skinny bony heroin chic to BBLs and slim thick, full baby cheeks to buccal fat removal, sharp noses to flat button noses, just goes to show how impressionable our perception of beauty is because these are almost on complete different ends of the spectrum. to me beauty is a spectrum, with a wide variety of unique features and characteristics, rather than just beautiful vs ugly. our sense of aesthetics is really dependent on the era we live in. it’s up to us to call ourselves beautiful regardless and radiate that confidence from the inside, empower ourselves than just resign ourselves to being ugly. it’s hard to do it. but not a single one of us looks exactly like the other, and i think that’s a beautiful thing. let’s all be kind to ourselves ❤

Beauty as a concept and construct WILL exclude others but it shouldn’t matter because physical beauty isn’t the end all be all nor should be the focal point of one’s worth and lovability. It should be their humanity that we value the most. We should be able to call ourselves ugly just like we can be comfortable not being the best artists or the best at math. We shouldn’t fear being ugly as if our whole sense of worth and happiness relies on being naturally pleasing to the eye.

I've always called myself forest gremlin pretty, and I think I'm really gonna stick with that. It actually makes me feel better about myself and my unique features!!! Growing up, I felt like the ugliest girl in the world for not having the most typically attractive features. I began referring to myself as a gremlin as a joke, because I felt like it fit my looks and my personality. One day, someone commented on my pic online saying that I had a very natural essence and they thought I looked like a wood elf. That comment actually made me feel uniquely pretty for the first time, and now I can look at myself with acceptance rather than with distain. We can define our own beauty, social standards be damned!

It's a bit of a strange way to look at oneself but if we all tried fitting into one of the categories mentioned in the video it would've literally been impossible for people like me or you to feel good about ourselves and honestly it feels soo much better feeling beautiful because you're yourself rather than ticking all the boxes for being "popular pretty" or "model pretty"

I can imagine what might come next: "what type of cute are you - spicy cute, baby cute, popular cute, or cute cute?". Society comes up with the weirdest trends to fit people in a box. This is so toxic, especially for many young girls who believe that this is all life is about. There is so much more to women than being "pretty".
I don't have TikTok so I was so shocked to learn about this new "classification". In a way, I'm glad that I didn't know about it because god knows how I would have been influenced.
Thank you Zoe for putting this video out there to remind us that there is so much more than what society deems us to be, and that living outside of the box can sometimes be more beneficial.

As a teenager in the midst of all this despite not having tiktok, i see these trends. I absorb these trends.
And Im a 15-year-old black girl, who doesn’t have any money to keep up with any of them. And I feel like If we’re going with a realistic standard, Im not gonna be any of the “4- pretty’s” and ad much as i try to accept it, when you happen to go to a school with some diversity, but not much, sometimes its really hard. I always thought that when I got older it wouldn’t matter, but no matter how hard I try, it feels like it always will.
I know this seems like a really pointless rant, and there’s probably people in the comments who are going to be like “it doesn’t matter what the color of your skin is” and im going to say, that sometimes it does. It really does matter sometimes, and the beauty standards at my school, are
    1. Blonde, Brown, or Black hair
    2.Skinny
    3. Long eyelashes
    4. Be Rich
    5. Have confidence
    6. Be on a sports team.
Thats what it’s like at my school.
That’s what i have to live up to.
    And I shouldn’t have to.
    Nobody should have to.
    So here’s my question.
Why does it matter what type of pretty we are?
I thought all that was supposed to matter was personality and just how you are as a person.
Sorry, i just needed to get that off my chest.
Also id love to know other people’s opinion in the comments, and i hope i didn’t offend anyone, I was just saying whats one my mind about this topic.

You're absolutely right. Take it from someone who happens to be in her late 20s: as long as you're presentable (clean, affable, good-natured), you ARE pretty!
It's tough being a teenager and feeling that you have to blend in, but you don't really have to. Uniqueness is pretty. I used to envy textured and colored (red/brownish) hair. I used to want to be taller and more androgynous. But those aren't me. And notice those aren't typical beauty standards. Each people has their own perception of what's pretty and it should be normalized.
You have plenty of time to learn what makes someone attractive - be it rabbit teeth, wide nose, small nose, freckles, small eyes, big eyes, thin lips, big lips, idk what else society find undesirable - be assured that there will be people who find your features cute! A lot of time it's not based on standards. :)

Hi sis, I’m a 17 (soon to be 18) year old black girl. I know exactly how you feel. I was (and am still) an overweight black girl when I was 15 years old in a predominantly white school. It was rough and it wrecked my self image and confidence. I do want to tell you, though that it gets so much better. Do not compare yourself to others but find your own beauty. It truly shines from within. I consider myself to be quite pretty now but it took the work to not compare myself to other people’s beauty but to find my own instead. Remember that you are absolutely beautiful no matter what the beauty standards are. Remain confident in this fact and remember that beauty standards differ not only from society to society but even from person to person. Whatever the socially “acceptable” beauty standard is at the time, individuals still have their own personal preferences. Hence you should find your own beauty, accentuate it and rest confidently in your amazing beauty.
You are an amazing person and you’ve got this! Stay strong

But these videos really do help me look at these things with a more critical lens, and help me remind myself that...I am human, humans don't look like Instagram/ tik tok filters, and I am beautiful to plenty of people in real life. Something that feels nasty to me about the 'what type of pretty are you' trend thats going on is that all of the types of pretty feel the same??? Like they all feel like there is significant overlap between the types, to the point where I'm still confused as to where the differences are because they all feel like they boil down to meeting the same ole beauty standard in extremely similar ways. It feels like we're recycling the same old stuff over and over and over again instead of actually diversifying and dissecting what is 'pretty'.

I'm really into body types and learning about what clothing looks best on someone based on bone structure and certain features. It's really fun to research Kibbe😇 and an innocent approach to finding your style.
The 80s models were know as natural body types because of their naturally athletic build making them look strong or fit some traits include: long limbs, broad shoulders, wide ribcage, straight hips, and wild healthy hair. Which would explain the use of shoulder pads and thick coats.
The herion chic is often known as dramatics.. Sadly sometimes
It really is just heroin; however, Kate's bones structure has always been delicate looking and that's just the features of dramatics. Long, narrow, and sharp not broad like naturals . It seems like the internet is really favoring the dramatics right now and sleek cashmere dresses.
Some claim nothing looks good on them, but since I've learned abt this it's really fun to learn what designers favor body types like Chanel really likes gamines (essences) which would be lily rose depp, lily allen, and audrey Hepburn for example. The 70s is the best for naturals because of the width in clothing making a vibrant larger than life look.
Standard pretty giving no explanation other than meeting the beauty standards is just absurd bc every country is different what we find standard here is unique in another country.. It has no structure or system. Ppl are lumping it all together. There's pretty based on culture and sexual dimorphism. Then there's ✨style✨ which can be anything! Then there is your pure bone structure, vertical line, and facial features. The best part is that none of this really matters unless you're into it (style, fashion, and body types) bc everyone's preferences are different.

Whenever I find myself comparing my face and body and life to someone else's, I just remind myself of that quote. Maybe they are Christmas lights and I am a wildflower. i’m indian and also have natural big lips. though i do agree it’s weird that a white girl got botox for her lips and is being praised while a lot of us born with big lips got bullied for it/thought they were ugly

Society has become so insanely vain, it’s shocking. Just focus on being a good person. Focus on educating yourself. Focus on helping those less fortunate than yourself. Focus on environmental efforts. Focus on human connection. Focus on your passions and creating things with your hands. Focus on cultivating joy. Stop focusing on your appearance and what other people think of you.

I'm very flattered by your confidence. The universal truth everyone must see. I appreciate your work very much, you've inspired me and made me love myself. As being a tenager, I'm starting to get concerned about my looks and always thought I've never cared for these thing when I was young but suddenly why. Hanging out with my friends after COVID-19🦠😷I saw everyone is into too much social media, trusting useless thoughts etc. And I saw how much they compared themselves to others and get sad and depressed. Well, your video sure motivates them and myself to become a better person. I appreciate 😊your wonderful thoughts and the courage. Thank you ❤

    Zoe
Can you just do a video to talk about how family pressure on their kids to become the most perfect person they ever meet effect their mental health.
My whole family and even my siblings think that I have to be perfect even though they don't say it but they don't accept and realise that they do, I told them many times about it and they always blame me for that.
Now I have mental health issues, social anxiety, stress and anxiety of being later than my peers, a wake, sleepy, comfortable and happy even though I am only 18 yo.
I will be so thankful if you did it.
I am lost right now so much.

Never heard of this topic before… so lucky, that American social media doesn’t apply on other countries. The amount of attention towards body’s and individual views is crazy. I heard (doesn’t have to be true) that people from America are more offended when you tell them there are ugly or broke, rather than that they have a bad personality. Insane…
Please shift your focus on something that truly has a meaning and brings happiness
