      It was well deserved Cuba. The end was just something I had been thinking about and rambled on about a bit.

    Ohhhh yeah, you get all the gems Chris! She's a good unit! Gotta love them diesels!
    I remember doing alot of injectors on the Detroits when I was wrenching on them in the service😉👍. The M1074 PLS HEMTT's ran the 8V92TA Detroit.
    They're noisy...but I remember doing my first set of manifolds on them and forgot to drain the coolant (which was hot AF still) before I started pulling the studs😂😂😂...needless to say I got crap for that mistake for quite a few months! What a mess!
    Excellent information and video man!
    You are one hell of a good guy!

  • @gearheadautomotivel.l.c.5476

    Well said brother! There is plenty of work for all and we're much stronger together than we ever are alone. Excellent video as well. One of my customers has a 20 ton rough terrain crane with that same engine. The "fuel miser" was its nickname if I'm not mistaken. First time I worked on it he had a concern of a fuel leak as they would smell it and get smoke after running it awhile. Turned out the engine just an excessive amount of blow-by and the smoke they were seeing was coming straight from the road draft tube. Keep up the great work!

    I think i need to replace my 8.2Ts injectors. mine runs fine and starts very very easily but got some white smoke but no coolant loss and no signs of a blown headgasket except for the white smoke. gonna drain the fuel tanks first and replace my fuel filters and see if its just not water in the fuel.

  • @chekelley6861
    @chekelley6861 Před 4 lety +1

    If I can, I’ll pull a glow plug and create a “known” loss of compression when I’m doing an RC test. I use that as a sync to figure out the firing order. Then I will do a manual compression test in that one cylinder which gives me an actual number that I can use with the humps on the rest of the RC test to calculate the pressures in the other cylinders. Only works on engines that have external glow plugs obviously lol.

    • @ScienceOfDiagnostics
      @ScienceOfDiagnostics  Před 4 lety

      Excellent point and definitely a good way to go depending on the overall symptoms. Theres a lot of tricks to get by with the diesels. Sharing them makes us all better
      I was thinking of using an accelerometer to get a pulse of an exhaust runner (should vibrate somewhat during an exhaust event) and go from there but the rain ruined my chances for experiments.
