Eliminate Noises From Your Lectric XPedition or other ebike

  • Before the fixes, I was reminded of how little I spent on this cargo ebike relative to what else is on the market. The specs are superb and I still very much like the brand and want to be a lot more proud to ride it. The rattling, clanging and brushing noises was hideous and I know you all want to silence the bike.
    Here’s how.

    I would put felt or cork or rubber washer between any bolt on accessories. That should dampen a lot of rattles. Plan on picking one of these up for my wife and small kids. Thanks for the honest reviews

      Juiced Rip Racer. Best sale price was $850. Highest price was $1,400. Mostly $1,000 lately. They make exclusively 52v ebikes. I have a video on it as well on my channel.

  • @kittiecommittee139
    @kittiecommittee139 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Organic is quieter but less stopping power. Metallic is bound to have a squeel, but greater stopping power - hence why manufacturers tend opt for metallic or semi-metallic for their ebikes.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 8 měsíci

      Makes sense. Yes, but also a lot of e-bike buyers are so new to bikes, they’re bound to want something quieter and won’t know the difference with stopping power. I see what you’re saying though. Better safe than inconvenient.

    • @kittiecommittee139
      @kittiecommittee139 Před 8 měsíci +1

      I totally agree with you tbh. most people just want their bikes to work the way that they expect them to work, and part of that means being quiet. @@Funcentric

    • @deansmits006
      @deansmits006 Před 8 měsíci +1

      It makes more sense to go with semi metallic on heavier, faster ebikes. However, resin may be fine for a lot of people if they get a lighter ebike or don't do max speed alot.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 8 měsíci

      @@deansmits006 very true. And for those that are doing short trips where there’s really no time to warm up metallic pads. Also you can just engage the brake sooner. I find metallic or semi metallic more for race application and where dry conditions are always expected. With cargo bikes though, many uses these for everyday use as opposed to competition.

    I love your honesty. Very little of that in reviews on youtube. But you never addressed my biggest concern about the XPedition. It supposedly can go 30 or so miles per hour. But it has no suspension at all, not front or back. I would expect a very rough ride(?). Can you address this issue please? Thank you!

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 2 měsíci +3

      Thanks! It won’t go 30mph on throttle only. It’s shipped as a class 2 bike but can be changed to class 3 which tops out at 28mph, which is the legal limit.
      Yes, the ride is rough as expected from a cargo bike. As a budget bike, it’s not the best quality but manageable. Excellent value. Some folks have installed suspension seat posts. Generally you won’t find suspension cargo bikes. It’s typical for cargo bikes to be hard tail and rigid fork. Some may offer front suspension but rear is rare.
      I’ve been recommending the Aventon abound over this XPedition unless there’s something specific about the XPedition that suits the rider’s needs better. Class 3 is over rated. You don’t need to be going that fast on a cargo bike.

    I have a creaking sound on my Xpedition that seems to be coming from the handlebars. Have you ever heard of that? I can feel just a little bit of play in the handlebars and the sound is very noticeable when riding. Now that I've watched your video I'm going to double check the front fender too.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 2 měsíci +2

      There are two caps on either side of where the handlebar bends. Remove those caps to reveal two screws in either side. Tighten those up and see if the noise goes away. People have been complaining about the looseness of that area but not necessarily noise, but hopefully that will help. If not, then I’m not sure.

    • @javamon
      @javamon Před 2 měsíci

      @@Funcentric Well, I removed those caps but the screws were already very tight. It seems to be related to the design of the folding handlebars and possibly the hinge. Can you feel any wiggle if you hold the tire still and move the handlebars back and forth?

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 2 měsíci

      @@javamon hmmm, I’m not sure then. As a mechanical thing, maybe worth bringing to a bike shop or you can ask in the XPedition Facebook group. I’m an admin there. Resin pads may not let as long, though im not sure if what to expect in bikes. I am more used cars

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před 8 měsíci

      Correct, they certainly will not last as long. But on the flip side, they aren’t as harsh in rotors. So your rotors would last longer. Also resin reaches max braking capacity without having to warm up first unlike metallic and semi metallic. Resin isn’t for race applications and being the cargo bike is for more practical use, I think it’a the way to go. Also resin performs better in wet conditions.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric  Před měsícem +1

      Haha my channel isn’t big enough for anyone to send me anything. I don’t think I’ll be getting any electric bikes anytime soon.
      The quality isn’t the reason we buy from Lectric. It’s the customer service. I
      Can’t imagine a knockoff company like Aipas would provide service anywhere near that of the level of Lectric.
      If you go with another brand, the deal has to be ridiculously cheap and even then, I personally wouldn’t do it. You could end up with a $1,000 brick or bomb.

      Non-american company with zero support? No thanks. Eventually people will start to really value American support. Until then, people are okay buying overseas products as long as they get a discount off the top. But even that's starting to creep up. China is starting to realize that Americans don't value American support yet. So in the meantime, they're just juicing it.
