Thank you for providing this kind of exercises. They are very useful to practice!
You're very welcome!
I am about to have a job interview as an interpreter and I am so nervous, in less than two hours I'll go through the evaluation. Wish me luck and success...
Good luck, have you tried the Tuesday Terp Challenge? czcams.com/video/cKwQ6QVj7_U/video.html
Where did you get an interview?
how did the interview go ?
Sometimes, words-or the way we use them-don't make perfect sense, but it's the whole phrase that has a meaning, an idea, that you can convey: that "and remember that's not only why you're sick" threw me off. I interpreted it as "y recuerde que esto no es solo porque esté enferma", which works with the general idea of what the doctor is recommending. These exercises make me realize that. It's the idea, not the words, that you interpret. Except for the hard facts like Rx names, terminology and symptoms.
Exactly! As interpreters we always interpret meaning. Try interpreting, "it’s raining cats and dogs" literally and you will have people running out to see the spectacle.
Awesome videos love it
EXCELLENT !!! THANK YOU !!!

You’re welcome and we are working on the second series of Medical Interpreting Practice, expect it soon.
does the doctor say '' what about runnny or stuffy nose" at 2:45 ?
Yes, he does.
Hi, Thank you sooo much for the videos! I am learning a lot from different videos that you post up. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I speak English and Cantonese (Chinese). I would like to ask, if you can recommend an institution for me to complete the 40 hours course. Thanks!
Hi! Glad to know you like them. As far as recomending an institution in Los Angeles, we would not know. since we are not familiar to that area.
Thank you very much for these videos! They are helpful! Could you please make some with scenarios in the legal field?
You are very welcome. Unfortunately, we do not have any experience in the legal field and do not feel comfortable in providing material for that. We do hope to provide material for the legal field in the future, though.
@@Interpretyourworld Understood but could you please make more scenarios in other fields besides medical?
That is the plan we hope to have some more soon
@@Interpretyourworld Much appreciated!

does he say " i'm gonna order your iv fluid now, and you'll be ready by the end of the consult" ?
You are correct.
Yes, fluids should done at the end of the consult...
@interpretyourworld thanks for the videos, they are quite useful. I live in Mexico and I´m learning and practicing so as to become an OTP interpreter. Do you know of any company looking for remote positions?
Glad you like them! There are several companies that hire mexican interpreters like AMC Health (Stratus), LSA and LLS. However, I believe only LLS accepts interpreters with no experience.
10: 02 I'm going to order your IV fluid now so you're " ....... ready" by the end of the consult. There's a term i couldnt get. What does he say?
I'm going to order your IV fluids now so you'll have 'em ready by the end of the cosult.
great effort keep up the good work i would like to ask what is he saying at 13:39 after "and remember this is not only why you are being sick"
Hi! he says "You must do this all the time. Well, take care now. Feel better and I hope you get better soon as well."
@@Interpretyourworld Thanks a lot.
this is not only WHILE you are being sick
Hi, I just found your videos and they are great, Im interested in becoming an interpreter, how do I start? What would be a first step, im ready for a change of career.
Thanks
Hi, thanks! That would depend on what country you live in. Once you let me know that I can point you in the right direction.
@@Interpretyourworld Hi thank you!
I live in the US, in the state of North Carolina.
@@j.m.b5441 In the United States is is my understanding that you have to complete a 40hr interpreting course at any colleague. The next step is to like and practice all of our videos, lol. If you want to work as a medical interpreter or legal interpreter you will have to get certified, this means completing a course and a test. Keep in mind this is all for consecutive interpreting. If you want to go the simultanious interpretation you will have to get a degree. Hope that helps! Stay tuned to this channel since we have a series of videos to help aspiring interpreters.
@@Interpretyourworld thank you very much!!
I'd like to start with consecutive interpreting then go from there, I've watched some of your videos, they could be a great help once I start school.
Again, thank you!
what does the doctor say at 7:45 ? I heard "complimate"
07:44 Make sure it is mostly water, but if you must, you can complement with any liquid you wish. This includes sodas and juices like those that you mention. Remember that those drinks have a lot of sugar and they are not good for you.

9:12 "the nurse is here to do a flu swab", is that correct?
Yes you got it
What did he say at 11:15 after that's correct
11:12 Yes, that’s correct and remember to keep on pushing those fluids. Staying well hydrated will keep your body fighting the infection much faster, and it might rid of your headache as well.
We have a Patreon page with the scripts for a monthly 1 dollar subscription... www.patreon.com/Interpretyourworld
