- Blaze is one of the beloved members of the Sonic cast with plenty of potential, but she has been hardly used in the games. Why is that? In this video we discuss the topic.

I think it's going to take a while before Blaze makes a comeback. Tails, Knuckles and Amy are just barely having their resurgence and judging by Sonic Prime and movie 3, I think it's safe to say Shadow and Rouge will be up next. I really hope Silver and Blaze will have their turn one day but I believe Sonic Team will have to get over their fear of 06 first.
I 100% want to get Shadow before Blaze, I am just saying they are missing out by not using her

The other similarity between Blaze and Sonic that I feel obliged to mention is the designs of their shoes. Blaze basically has Sonic's shoes but are pink and have heal sticks instead of red with flat bases.

Blaze is an amazing character, and I'm glad the comics give us a chance to explore her more. I would love a chance to explore her world more, it would even give us a chance to get more of Marine. There are people who like that raccoon.
I hope I don't get too much hate for saying this, but I enjoy her friendship with Silver. It's not like the guy has any friends back in his time he can hang out with. Having them interact doesn't necessarily water down either of their characters. I know the two are going to have a conversation of what it's like being from different worlds in the next issue, and I am looking forward to it.
It doesn't water them down, but I feel it holds them back. the latest issue separating them and finally letting them be themselves I think was a great change of pace. Silver's future (especially current day) also needs more exploration, I just happen to prefer spending the time on Blaze if I had to pick.
Personally I think the reason why Marine is gone is probably because Sonic Team realized how annoying she was and regret creating her so instead they chose to keep Cream as her friend
And if that’s the case then it’s a no loss for me because I think Blaze deserves to have a more calm friend than an annoying one

@@iceman92211Marine has that good little sister dynamic with Blaze, just like good little brother dynamic Tails has with Sonic.
That sibling dynamic they have in Rush Adventure is FAR better than Blaze has with Silver. Believe me. I'm a big Silver fan and it's because of Blaze that Silver's story sucked the most, plus the lack of world building of Silver's background and details to what he's like that could have made his arc not look like forced story progression. They never establish or explain their relationship. I guess her 06 profile did said something about Blaze treating Silver like a little brother. But it also says that she protects the sol emeralds and her bio has her pretty much the same Blaze from her dimension and not from Silver's world. How the R did they even met? They didn't established any relationship/friendship, did they? Did they have to fight Iblis to establish that? So they're forced then? Honestly if this were the same Blaze from Rush, she should have interacted with Sonic and the others. She should have even be level headed enough to not trust a random creepy hedge without a mouth. Heck, 06 even gets referenced in games like Colors ds, Generations, and TSR in Japanese. So even outside of 06 can't even justify their ✌friendship✌. In IDW, Blaze was like a typical fire bender that shoots fire, rather than the speedy elegant fiery beyblade that she was in the games. And her burning form during the neo metal arc, she was nowhere near the level of super sonic and the other guy. Burning Blaze does melt a piece of metal by passing through it, but for the most part, she just shoots more/bigger fire. And as for the monkeyface-like soft boi with the weird large mouth and his power of cartoony feeble graspy aura. Nope! that is not Silver the Hedgehog. That is who I call Softie the Cinnamonroll. An adorkable boyfriend of the serious tough girl Blaze that makes them look oh so precious and likable and appeal to those silvaze bastards. You cannot tell me that that's not some random softie dude pretending to be that character.
So yeah.. I'm very much against Blaze and Silver being a duo or whatever. I kinda see it as a one off thing that was completely exaggerated to being like the greatest thing that'd happened. Which really isn't.

Blaze is the best female Sonic Character, no contest. The fact she was basically made to be a bizzaro Sonic doppelganger and yet no one even thinks of her as such is just proof of her excellence. Stop making her play second fiddle to Silver the Plothog and give her actual presence, please and thank you.

One reason why I didn't like 06 was how they handled Blaze, that people immediately think: "Oh, she was Silver's friend from 06."
And that's all they think about, they don't bother to dig deeper about who she is.

Of all the Sonic Characters that deserve a classic title game I think Blaze would fit with a great prequel classic Sonic game in which we learned about Blaze’s early days in her world.

I think Blaze fans tend to over-exaggerate the effect Silver had on her character. I dont stan Silvaze or anything, but outside of 06 and a few references here and there, they arent really tied at the hip. Her decease in relevance is mostly just a symptom of the 2010's, and its like Silver has been made the scapegoat by a lot of Blaze fans. It feels like getting angry at a problem that doesnt exist.
I haven't spoken with anyone else about my thoughts on blaze until this video, so from my point of view if people are coming to this opinion independently like myself it means there probably is something there.

Nah Blaze lore was directly hurt from Silver. They literally take her dimensions counterpart of Eggman and make him be Eggman's descendant from the future who also hates Eggman 's guts. Makes no sense since in Rush he addressed himself as a parallel to Eggman and is from another dimension. Nega also works with Eggman twice.
Blaze can have her own content outside the Sonic Continuity, heck besides the rush series we know almost nothing about her World

I think after what we just went through the past decade with Sonic and the others, I think the lack of Blaze being ruined by the writers is more of a blessing than a curse, for the most part. I guess it's just now after what happened from Sonic Forces and all, the IDW comics decide to shed some light on Sonic's friends again and while not everyone is written all that great from what I heard because of Sega's decisions (I'm looking at you Shadow) it's at least handle by someone who knows the Sonic series unlike Pontaff. And as for her friendship with Silver, I support the two as such despite what went down during 2005 and 2006 with Rush and Sonic 06 conflicting with Blaze's identity.
And if a remake to Sonic 06 were to happen, I'd want to see Blaze act like she's returning home only to end up in the future for some random means (because time and space is quite a complicated thing in the Sonic universe) as she soon realizes that it's probably her calling to help Silver out to restore his future world. She would recognize Sonic as a friend when Silver sees Sonic in a vision, give Silver some advice of knowing right from wrong of killing someone given her recent experience, only for Mephiles to remind Silver that time is running out to save the future world from the disaster. Shadow would come in a show Silver the truth, him and Blaze rush to find Sonic, and they return to the future would to stop Iblis for good. Blaze sacrifices herself, her dead body appears in the End of the World next to Sonic and would be revived by the Chaos Emeralds and go into her Burning Blaze form and help out the hedgehog trio stop Solaris and then return to her dimension.
Hmm, I doubt they would do that honestly. Having Blaze spend years of her life in-between rush and 06 surviving in a hell scape would have ramifications on her behaviour that future games do not support at all.
@@TheRealMightyEmperor I know but it's sometimes fun to think of the possibilities. Also do keep in mind I did say "If", I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sega and Sonic team decide not to do a remake of Sonic 06.

Like, in Sonic Frontiers they made Stiks canon in the main franchise.
She probably had to go back to her home dimension in order to do princess stuff, but if they did ever bring her back, I think it would be interesting if she interacted with Sally because they’re both princesses and they could do a diplomacy to all the legal issues with Sally’s character I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon, but it would be cool if it did

Last time when blaze showed up for timeline was Sonic 06 or Sonic Generations. Otherwise I do wish that Blaze should show up with Sonic games, same thing to Silver as well except from other games like Sonic 06.

I've had time gap filling story loaded for this exact issue.
The Sol Gems sent her to 06 , and then retrieved and stored her within themselves.
Marine found Silver after he fell from the sky , and try to find the Sol Gems together.
After they bring Blaze back , and restore the gems , there is a similar ending to Rush 1.
that'd be such a great plot for a future game
maybe the idw 63 comic would have been much better as a what if, like if blaze and sonic really did spend a vacation with just the two of them for five days and on the fifth day sonic held blaze's hand and she blushed they would fall madly in love, but idw 64 is the reality like something came up maybe the deadly six plus chaos where causing trouble so sonic could not go on vacation with blaze so silver took his place kind of like silver was back up for sonic and maybe shadow too if things got out of hand
The comics have the ability to tell those stories without needing to make them what if scenarios

Actually it doesn't _technically_ have a different set-up or backstory for Blaze
I hate that it's never addressed in-game, or in the English manual for that matter, but in the Japanese manual, she's described as the "guardian of the Sol Emeralds" which means even in 06, she wasn't from the future
And judging by Rush and Rush Adventure's lore about the Chaos and Sol Emeralds, the most likely explanation is that when they sensed an existential threat in Sonic's world, the Sol Emeralds sent Blaze there to help deal with it, much like they did in Rush and the Chaos Emeralds did to Sonic in Rush Adventure
(In addition, Eggman Nega is confirmed to be Eggman's descendant from the future in his new bio, as well as to have both dimension-hopping and time-travel tech. So that's how he's both Blaze's villain in Rush and Silver's in Rivals.
I think the Rush games happen first and then Rivals, but that's not as important. But yeah. It would then be 06 ➡️ Rush ➡️ Rivals)
The manual doesn't matter. Blaze does not recognise Sonic at all in 06 and if anything the ending implies she started here and awoke in the sol dimension. Point being it was an ill considered mess. There was not a greater vision for blaze beyond Sega wanting the cool DS character to somehow fit their new game.
Knowing Sega and how prone they are to letting promising characters rot, (looking at the Chaotix especially there,) she will only be in minor, none canon appearances. I would love more than anything to have her return as she is one of my fave characters. But I am done holding out hopes with Sega.

I really love analyzing videos like these I’m so so late into the Sonic franchise 😅 But have been an fan back in the day seeing Blaze she is an very interesting character and definitely needs more time to shine as does Silver been seeing him get alot of heat lately. But from what I’ve seen of Blaze I love to see more of her I love her design and character as a whole.

I'm going to get flak for this (especially considering Knuckles) but its my opinion that Blaze, Knuckles and Silver should not appear often and instead be used sparingly due to their unique backstories. Crossing dimensions shouldn't be easy and it cheapens the fact that Blaze is the ruler of her world, Knuckles has arguably the most important job in the franchise and while Silver is my second favorite character (after Sonic naturally) and could be used to reintroduce the time stones, him constantly coming back not only cheapens his efforts but also Sonic's since we are back to how time travel used to work before Forces thanks to Ian and the lore council. (so Silver doesn't come from a alternate dimension but is actually doing true time travel)
If you're going to use these characters more you need to justify it so their role doesn't become a cheap note of trivia. At least for Knuckles you could have him hand over the job to Mighty and Ray or even Chaos. (going by his Frontiers short) Which would be a good use of the extended cast and be a shout out to Chaotix.
Modern Knuckles has 0 connection to Mighty and Ray, I know people enjoyed that in Archie but he just doesn't have the same bond here. I do agree to an extent with what you say, but at the same time when you have characters fit for a purpose, you can alter circumstance to get them involved. Blaze having beaten her world's evil forces makes her farm more capable of coming over. Yes she does need to act as princess in her world (Although we still don't know about her parents) but at the same time 99% of her friends are in Sonic's world.

We are back to one canon. (Forces' 2 dimensions thing was retconed out so Classic is now again just the past) Assuming you're talking about Chaotix, I heard that I think on the Bumblekast which is a podcast done by Ian Flynn.

Really lovely video. I think it's interesting that there's the fan rally for the return of Sally Acorn when a somewhat similar character is already right there in the form of Blaze. Look I'm saying this as a DIE-HARD fan of SatAM and the Archie-verse....I would LOVE to see Blaze take on the role of a "Sally" in the games, being a tomboy-battle princess who has the power and snark of Sonic mixed with a much softer feminine side. It seems like SEGA themselves have always been looking for that type of new female core character to contrast Amy and Rouge with the introduction of Sticks, Tangle and now Trip. Why not just use Blaze to her full potential?
We may never know. Her origin story from the sol dimension is always the named reason goes her lack of involvement, but not even that plot point gets explored

Blaze's situation seems to me to be a similar situation to that of Spyro and his reboot of "the legend of Spyro", although unlike this one, Blaze's is poorly handled. Because let's see, Sonic 06 is literally a reboot that they couldn't do well due to the extreme lack of time that Sega gave them, and unlike the Spyro reboot, here for some reason they decided instead of not to mention Sonic 06 again leaving it at his own thing, they putted it partially on the same timeline??? What???
I don't know if what also influenced the decisions of this was that the creator of Sonic himself left the franchise halfway through the development of Sonic 06 due to the extreme operating conditions
As for Blaze´s apparent chemistry with Sonic, don't get your hopes too high. The sonic team has a rule of never making any ship canon (presumibly for the incident whith the Archie comics).

I have Sonic Rush but do not remember anything from it besides the cool music and Blaze being fast and having fiery attacks lol. Only seen clips of 06 here and there but since 06 was a console game and Rush a handheld, i can see the theory of Silver hindering her to be true bc she likely got the most exposure from 06 and not Rush. That being said, I really like Blaze and too wish she was in more games. Since Sonic has so many bffs (lol), Blaze could enter the revolving door of side characters based on what the game is sbout and how it plays. Since she's close yet different enough to Sonic not only in terms of gameplay but narrative arc, she can easily replace a Shadow or Knuckles, for example, when need be. Plus she can be the needed female/feminine character that the series has inconsistently lacked re: Amy (and Cream and Rouge) unitl recently. It's just nice to give other parts of the fan base something to latch on to. 😊

What does her association with Silver have anything to do with her not returning? If anything blame Shadow. She is basically just another doppelgänger like Shadow but far less popular.
As I say in the video, Silver being required for her to get screen time makes her less likely to appear, because he himself is less likely to appear as a member of the future
Blaze’s appearance has never been contingent on any character other than Sonic of course. She can travel space - time with the Sol emeralds whenever she chooses. Her lack of appearance is because Sega prioritizes certain characters. They want Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow in the forefront. Blaze suffers from appearances because she’s less popular, less known, and not high on Sega’s priority list. Blaze can appear without Silver because she wasn't created as a support character to Silver. She traveled to the future of Sonic’s dimension to support him in Sonic 06 for the context of that game only.

Well, Blaze is super nerfed to the point of not being able to because I say that, well, what I'm going to say, don't take it the wrong way, but Blaze is a disaster in development and in time lines and then people say, hey, don't mess with the cat from the franchise, she She is better than everyone and she teaches you the bible without information that is only taken from a fanfic or the idw numbers saying that she develops well but that only she appeared in small pages and then or through she gets information that she loves silver or that she is in love with sonic a 17-year-old hedgehog and she is 14 years old but I feel that people conform more to the favoritism of couples who falls in love with whom or who has more muscle than his own canon
Lets not forget the character ages have been removed now. Beyond that, I only consider canon events when it comes to Blaze and what we see from her is already impressive.
