Thank you! You saved me money and you made this easy to follow through. All the repair shops told me it would cost me $160-$250 to fix and replace my macbook pro!
Like most who watch this I could not have ask for a more professional and understanding video with the spoken instructions 5 Star with perfect graphic. And I did not have to pay for such. Not sure who supports your company but continue with what you do. Thanks
Terrific, organized, helpful video. Sheesh. Walks you through the whole process. Thanks OWC.
Thanks for sharing your expertise on replacing the battery and most importantly calibrating the new battery.
You are welcome! If there is anything else we might be able to help you with please let us know.
Just replaced the battery in my macbook thanks to this amazing video. Thanks for helping empower me, and the whole world!!! Blessings
Thank you. Very helpful video, reinstalled my battery and calibrated :)
Thank you so much for this very helpful video.

very clear; thanks!
Teriffic! Thank you :)
Brilliant! A model of what an instructional video should be - thanks!
thank
you!!!!!
Good video
Thanks for this! I did everything as the video mentioned, when I turned the mac at first it did not give a chime at all and turned off again, second time i got to the apple logo and mid boot it turned off again but with a little click inside the machine. For the 3rd time it started normally, Anything I should worry about?
Really excellent! Thank you! Now my problem, maybe (??!!) others might have it, too.
Coincidental with the dead battery was a need to update the OS. It was started using the dead battery and could not finish. So, when I booted with the new battery fully charged it got into the could not finish state. Since it could not finish, I could not set the power save values. In the end, I had to re-install over the net -- ~3hours uninterruptible. I left the power attached for that process. Ultimately, I got it booted up and and am now running down the battery. How badly might this affect the calibration?
Hi, thanks for this video. How to know the type of battery (1286?1382?)?
Fantastic easy and incredibly helpful video. Am so pleased that I was able to attend change of battery and recalibration of same with your tuition, needless to say saved a great deal of money as well, Thank you so much.
Thanks for the great video. However, one I plugged in the power my MacBook beeps and the light is orange. I have removed and reinstalled the battery again and it still beeps. Any suggestions why this is happening?
The MacBook Screwdrivers not working with the screw that on my Mac .. can someone help me please!!
What size tri wing tool is used for the battery screws?
Thanks for this amazing video! What size is the bit or the screwdriver used to remove the 3 triwing screws of the battery?
Thank's for the video. I have a mac book pro 2010. Where do I see the model of the battery I want to replace? The ebay seller asked me to give him this number.Thank you
Hi, I followed the instructions here, but when it reached 7% it shuts down automatically & won't turn on. I've tried resetting the SMC & PRAM but the problem still persists. Thanks for the helpful videos!
Are there internacional shipments to mexico?
Mostly almost every battery sold on Amazon (Canada) specify that the battery is for the i7 processor. Are there any differences? As mine is the i5 variant !
Hey, can i use a battery from a late 2011 15" in a mid 2012 15" non retina?
This has been instrumental in my repair; much appreciated!
The video is good but it doesn't mention that the fit on these NuPower batteries is very, very... very tight. When you first place it in, there is about 1/16" of plastic battery case overlapping the metal frame in the upper left corner of the battery bay. I called and was politely told "Push harder." Three times. I had been pushing as hard as I could. Finally I hung up and decided to do a sort of handstand on it. I jumped up and gave it the full weight of my body. And it did snap into place. Shouldn't take that much. Frightening. But now I'm back up and running and my trackpad works..! (no more old swollen battery pushing up on it). Yay.
How many hours does a full charge last?
I need some help here I did everything in the video to replace the battery and it was all easy but when I tried to turn it back on nothing is displaying I hear a fan on and I have it connected to the charger can anybody help?
My top right screw isn’t moving.
Is that true that macbook always bootloop it because the battery?
Are their longer lasting replacement batteries for this mbp? :)
When installing the new battery, I'd suggest to fasten its screws before connecting to the mainboard, avoiding accidental short-circuits. Oops that screw should NOT have gone there:-)
Great instructions. Thank you!!! After I've replaced the battery, my Mac still shows in Battery Status the message "Replace Now". How do I tell my Mac that I have installed a new battery? Thanks.
Hello Tuan, there are a few reasons why it could be, I would recommend resetting the SMC, you can find instructions by googling your model and SMC Reset. If that doesn't work I would reach out to support@owc.com for further instructions we can assist.
@@poweredbyowc Thank you for your reply. After following your instruction to completely drained the battery, my Mac can now recognize the new battery. Thank you again for putting together this instruction. It's very helpful.
What is the exact model of the battery. I am fixing macboom pro8, 2 but it has no battery installed.
Hey Sir PTjohn, The battery you will need for your MacBook Pro is linked below for you.

I just received my battery and plan on changing it in the next couple of days.
Before taking out my old battery, is it recommended to drain it completely or at least to a certain percentage?
@@poweredbyowc Thank you for your reply! I was trying to find this on the website, but how many cycles can I expect from this replacement battery?
what battery and how do i know the wattage
Hi I bought one for my mbp 15 late 2011 and the nupower battery bought from the link could not fit in.
Hi Zac, we're sorry to hear this! Please feel free to message us with your order number, and we would be happy to assist!
I looked on your website for a battery to buy. I have this exact mac book pro (15in late 2011) but the only battery listed for the year 2011 is for a 17in Macbook Pro and it says that the battery is ONLY compatible with the 17in model. So i'm kinda confused, do you guys not sell a battery for the 15in macbook pros anymore? Will the battery for the 17in still work with mine? Any answers would be much appreciated. I looked around amazon and other websites for batteries and even though they are a lot cheaper than yours, all the reviews are full of horror stories. So i am very interested in purchasing one from you for the warranty and what seems like guaranteed quality. So I really hope you do have a battery that will work with my Macbook Pro 15in late 2011 model.
I think (if you read carefully) it's an i 7 processor. Not 17in Model as you wrote in your description above
How long is the lifespan of the battery of MacBook Pro 15" late 2011?
MacSales. com used almost every year will be like 5 years ?? Mine Is almost 5 years old and will be replaced it because is kind of bulge 😱😱😱
MacSales. com yeah I will replace it , the bulging happens because of the massive use ?🤔
MacSales. com so can be cause to leaving it charging for a long time ?🤔
six years and counting ;) but only 1.5 hr of battery after all this time. When I bought it, it runned up to 6 hrs or more
Mine was purchased early 2011 and just swelled up in October of 2018. Your mileage may vary.
Is the process the same for a 17"?
MacSales. com Thanks!
The instructions I have on my battery is different:
1.install the battery, turn on the computer and let it discharge up to around 5%
2. dont let it discharge completely as it can cause irreversible damage to the cells
3. connect AC adapter and charge according to mac instructions\
4. repeat 2 and 3 for 3-5 cycles to fully charge the battery
From my knowledge about batteries, quick charge or discharge is not recommended. I wonder how the above isntruction relates to what you mentioned in the video. Care to comment?
Katarzyna Jasik I just installed mine and the instructions that came with it said DO NOT let it discharge to 0 also...
I’ve just had to replace mine again🤭 but I don’t recall it booting up on its own when I plug in the charger before.
Hi MRaun! The only reason a 2011 MacBook Pro would boot up when the charger is connected is if it was still on and it shut down at low charge. A fully charged battery and a MacBook Pro that is shut down properly won't start up simply because the charger is connected.
@@poweredbyowc so even though I pressed shut down and waited a few minutes before disconnecting with the bad battery, it still might not have shut down properly?
After installing the new battery and performing calibration and an SMC reset, this type of behavior should not continue. If it does, it might be worth making sure the battery connector is properly connected to the logic board
@@poweredbyowc it hasn’t persisted, but I’m no longer getting a notification when the battery is running low and needs power.
That is awesome to hear. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions, comments, or concerns. eshop.macsales.com/Service/
Apple sealing the battery inside the case, necessitating shutting it down to open it up, and then dealing with screws and connectors, seemed to me to be unintelligent. If you don't want to plug in for the sake of keeping the temperature down, but rather switch in a spare battery, that's no longer convenient.
I speed up the videos cause they talk to slow.
I find it weird that you guys ask for the battery to be completely drained and then recharged... That should not be necessary at all with lithium ion batteries...
well?
Whats the green tool called at 1:57?
Comforting Kitten darude sandstorm
Turns out I'm so useless I couldn't even buy the right battery
