Just a little tip on this one guys. I spent 2 days chasing this no cam thing until i realized that ever time I tried a fix i left the ground wire on the same pad every time. Never had a ground pad die personally but it did so thought I would share this odd ball on both of the V1 Mamba mini's I got this month.
Mine did this the week a few times pretty scary i replace my cam wires and hasn't done it since
same issue here, my mamba board is still new but quickly realised that the connector on camera wasn't pushed all the way in.
Thanks 4 posting this!!!!
This vid made me realize that no cameras that I'm aware of have any LEDs indicating power on state. If the camera had an led , then you would know if the camera was getting power or not . Thx for sharing. 🤘😁👍
Oh my god brother, you read my mind. The whole time I was chasing this I was like it there was just a simple red led on this I would at least know if it was operating.
I had the black screen with OSD and was trouble shooting for two hours then thought to CZcams the problem.
Your video came up first and I'm sure glad it did. I had to move the ground AND positive to another source...then BAM!!!! I had video. I'd been using Caddx Vista and havent messed with analog in a while so I completely forgot about changing to different pads. Thanks for sharing this content...
I'm flying 3 inch with the Mamba Mini also. Have had exact same issue, as well as noisy 5VDC and VBatt. Love the FC and ESC combo though.
Yeah you know i bought like 5 of them when they were like 38 bucks. Not on issue on any of them. This second batch both had that ground bad and dirty vbat's. Must be a bad qc'ed batch. You know it's sad because as a reviewer it sticks to say like these are so good and such a right price then have them have a sh&^ batch come out and make you look like an idiot.
+1👍
kept having this issue until cut my crimps off and extended the wires with new crimps. (actually one fell off just as i was cutting, so "there's your sign")
Just this issue on my Mantis85 i replaced camera and vtx on. Got video by bypassing fc board. I'll check the ground out. Thanks :-)
Thanks a lot same exact problem
Make sure to check with your vtx to see what voltage you need to be supplying it with. Very important too!
if this is the case you wouldn't see osd
I had the same issue twice a few weeks ago with a couple of micro cameras - black screen with OSD coming through. Traced the problem to some caps/resistors on the back of the cam that had been damaged in crashes. I removed the soft plastic backing, resoldered the damaged component and issue was instantly fixed.
Which component you replaced/
i would also like to learn that
Thanks for your help
I have the same board and same issue. I hope it works. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏽
Dit it worked for you?
Check to make sure you have a fresh battery. If you are testing and using the "same" battery for building/testing it may drop below the required voltage. This happened to me yesterday. I knew it was wired correctly. Changed to a fresh battery and there it was. Fixed.
swapped the camera and it works run (an ant) but when I put my runcam nano racer 3 It goes black and the nano racer works on other vtx so any ideas of what im dealing with?
I have tried two camera, one shows grey screen with osd, the other one with same wiring shows the image but not the osd screen 😅
I had this issue with 2 tyro99 flight controller as the power was not workong on 10v pads
hi I'm new to fpv and brought a tbs oblivion. today I accidentally changed a camera switch setting in the osd and lost my camera feed. I am now unable to see the tbs osd at all to change it back what can I do very frustrated as can now not fly at all.
For me it was my video out pad that died on my FC... This is a great tip to keep in mind though.... Thx
I love trouble shooting electronics and building. Maybe that's why I became a T.V Repair man and RC modeler, but when it comes to a computer I don't know much. Thanks for the info on what to do when it comes to fixing your quad. I have a question I just finished my Chameleon and I have a xm+, DYS F4 pro and a 4n1 ESCs and when I just cross the street my quad will failsafe everytime, and it's about 30 feet. New everything ?
Just use Crossfire and you will not failsafe again... ;-)
Good stuff Mann!!!
Same here with the mamba mini f405. But this problem does not occure every time i plugin the battery. only 1 out of 3 times. I really dont know whats the problem is.
Changed ground pin from cam but problem is still there. Any ideas?
I have OSD+Black. I connected the VTX video wire and camera video wire and I get a picture. Is this means that the FC is the problem or do I have another thing that might help?
On the vtx side or cam side?
I have a TinyHawk s, i turn on my goggles and cas see the osd but a black screen. The camera uses a little adapter that fits onto the board instead of the 3 wires, if I bought a new camera would it fix the issue?
What about black blocky static. If I unplug my camera I get a black screen, plug it back in the blocky grey and black static.
What Im getting is.... when I power on my caddx turtle v2 I have black screen with osd but no image. I have to press the button on the caddx in order for it to turn on, and when I do that my osd goes away.... I wouldnt care if I have to press the button...... but my osd goes out...! Cant have that...! Any suggestuons?!
Nice info! I'd just remove the lense cap ;)
Whats funny about that is i probably double checked myself on that DA move about 20 times during the process hahaha. Why you may say. Because yep I've done that one before. Much like setting up an osd for pal on a NTSC camera. lol
i feel like a idiot now but thank u so much. i was so confused when i had osd but no picture
Sir my cam is working but i am getting black screen with osd in it...
Just had this happen earlier today. Had osd but my video went white which is weird.. cuz this isnt the first time ive lost my camera feed but its always been a black out. I got rid of the jst plug on my camera wire and soldered it directly to the Fc. It seems to be fine but only time wil tel cuz when it happens its so random. its the scariest thing about the fpv hobby. Thats the 5th time its happened between two quads. And its normally a loose wire
Any ideas what would cause the betaflight OSD to show up in my goggles, but not on my portable screen, or on my phone/receiver? I'm pretty much stumped at this point
Maybe you have checked this but let's hope it's this easy. Try going into betaflight and sticking something right in the middle of your osd. Save and try it on your displays. If you now see them then your osd is being cut off on the display and phone. You may have to move things to fit your smallest display. Like I said you may have tried this already but somethings it's the small things you chase.
@@TheQuadcopterReview Aha! That did it! Thanks my man! I guess I hadn't really tried everything like I thought
@@jeffpv Oh man I am so glad it was that easy. So glad I could help!
@@TheQuadcopterReview I'm so glad I asked you, to be honest. I'd asked around a few places, and got no response. As I'm really new to the hobby, something so simple as rearranging the OSD didn't even occur to me, as I had no idea it would be different on different screens. Huge thanks again, my man!
@@jeffpv No problem brother. If you run into anything ask anytime on any video even if it's off topic. I read every comment and respond to the best I can to almost everything.
I have the same problem but it's a whoop. Just order a new camera so hopefully its that.. I see grey screen and osd.
Is this a custom build or a BNF you bought if so what one. Just wondering.
@@TheQuadcopterReview eachine Trashcan.... i was flying then all of a sudden lost video drop out of the sky.. when i pick it up all i see is grey screen but osd is on. and i can still spin the motors.

@@jlaustudio I'm gonna bet your are on the right track and the camera smoked on you. If you think about it let me know if the new camera gets you back in the air.
@@jlaustudio hey, did the new camera fix the issue? My Mobula 6 whoop just did this today. Thanks in advance :)
I had my camera cable plugged in upside down!!!
That's pretty weird! But... Shit happens, right? Go figure. 😕
Anyway, I'm glad you solved it! 😊
Yeah, I can't believe I chased it for 2 days then went wait the only thing I never changed was the ground. The real curve ball was I took out a new FC and soldered everything to it and had the same issue. My guess is that batch 2 of the mini's they changed that port and not the documentation or bad production of the units.
Could this cause flickering video as well?
Flickering is usually dirty power. Have you tried adding a capacitor to where the battery meets the PDB or 4 in1 esc depending on what you're using? I mean I don't know everything but we were made to believe the idea for running the cam into the FC was to help give it clean power as well as osd but often it doesn't seem to help.
@@TheQuadcopterReview could it be the regulator on the FC?
@@rickjames8897 Yes in some cases I think we are looking as poor quality regulators on the FC. Example. Like I said i have probably build 6 quads using the mamba mini. I loaded up on them when they were like 34 or 38 bucks. That first batch bullet proof. I bought to more recently and both it this second batch I have to add caps too because suddenly I had this bad ground and poor regulators. Fun with electronics right. I figure to keep the price where it was they maybe had to take some b-grade chips.
When I made my first quad I went to test the Cam feed and it was completely black I looked at it and the cap was on still 😂😂😂
you never finished the thought.... if you connect the VTX video directly to the camera video and you see black screen you no something else is going on...... LIKE WHAT!? Other than bad grounds etc.
I have no camere(black screen) with no osd
Good to see vids like this. Too many guys just do reviews as they get their free stuff from banggood and gearbest. It's no coincidence that all their free stuff is also what they call awesome or the best. Nothing wrong with getting free stuff but call it like it is. Dont promote crap! Sorry Pepe, none of that is about your reviews or you as a reviewer.
No worries brother I get it. I have a closet full of crap because when i first started a certain review that calls everything the greatest and or a xyz killer sold me on a bunch of garbage that as a new guy I jumped right on. Now to bad the product was already shipped before video 2 cam out going oh wait it's actually a P.O.S. hahaha
This is now the second time you address a problem I have with my brand new Mobula7 HD 👍 when I fixed the first one I quickly discovered that I sometimes have a picture in my goggles and sometimes not.
When I come home I’ll open it up and check the wires ✌️
Thcnx ❣️
do you fixed the black screen on mobula 7 HD? what was it? i have the same problem
