    Late to reply but FYI in the manual transmission you need to be in first gear stopped with clutch pressed in and it engages every time. This is a Toyota procedure just not mentioned anywhere due to limited amount of manuals anymore. I have 21 TRD OR 6M. Took me a while but try it you will notice vast improvement in locking in 4WD especially 4L. As for the locker same procedure but I notice sometimes you need momentum Or turn slightly while moving so gears Mesh and line up. I love my 6M I was frustrated with the 4WD system until found out about the first gear thing. Hope it helps.

      Lots of fun! 100% stock vehicle (it had 500 miles on it, mostly from driving to Ouray 😂). Stock tires were actually really good, so traction was no issue. Long wheelbase helped getting down some of the off camber sections (better than my current GX, which got a bit more tippy). I just had to do some pedal dance during the steep up and down sections, but the hand brake helped a lot there. Getting around the switchback was not an issue, either. I did have to back up one more time compared to shorter wheelbase trucks, but not a big deal.

I broadened my search to four dealerships in the region and the very next allocation cycle, one of them got a TRD Pro in for me. I wish I'd known allocation math back in May. My TRD Pro (AT) is on a train, somewhere? Hoping it gets offloaded and put on a truck to the dealership this week. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed all the different aspects you showed. • @ForgottenWaypoints
      @ForgottenWaypoints  Před rokem

      @@tewksburydriver8624 , demand is still there. They just don't make them. The biggest problem with Toyota corporate is they don't take orders. Distributors order them and randomly send them to dealerships. It's a dumb model as it bypasses the consumer directly.
      I got my manual Tacoma when a dealership was allocated two with only 1 on the waiting list. The other dealer has a large waiting list, but Toyota doesn't care about filling their order.
      Case in point, I wanted a lunar rock OR with advanced tech. So did a lot of people. Toyota refused to make them, despite it clearly being available on the website.

      That said, I first adjust my seat for the clutch and then tilt the seat back so I can comfortably see out of the cab. It's not the most comfortable, but remember I'm picky....I'm comparing the seats and seating position to a Range Rover or LX470, it's not that good. I have a 3/4-ton for when I want to do "real work", the taco is a midsize truck, and honestly the GVWR is the weakest of all my rigs, even the Discovery 2 is bolted to a heavier duty chassis than the Tacoma, and that's fine.
      My primary goal was a 6-speed manual. So that limited me to the Gladiator (which at the time were selling at a premium) or the Tacoma. I'd have loved a ZR2 with front and rear locker, but I didn't want an auto.
      Honestly, if I was in the market right now, I'd probably snag a gladiator, because at a 15% discount, it's now cheaper than the TRD Pro Tacoma. Downside to the gladiator though, is the necessity to fit 35s or 37s to overcome the breakover angle because of the long wheelbase. Then your gas mileage goes to pot.
      With the Tacoma, I have no desire to fit a bigger tire, so that's a non-starter. I'm enjoying my mpg/tank average. The performance is good enough for my needs on the OEM tire spec. I have the Land Cruiser on 34s when I plan on more technical terrain.
