    Sounds like you need a bigger truck for what you use it for. Its definitely still a light truck, even though they look bigger than generations of the past. A few things you mentioned are nitpicks of preference but a few others are disappointing for Toyota, as you say. I actually live in my 18 Tacoma. I'm pretty minimalist though and use it to get me to deep hiking trails in Idaho or run out to the high desert to camp and explore, so it works for me. Sorry to hear you've had less than stellar experience with yours. Hopefully the Chevy isn't a pile of crap for ya.

      I would buy another one if I got more into aggressive trail riding, but for what I do, my trail boss has a rear locker , 2 inch lift and many options that my Tacoma just didn’t have. I did really like the six speed manual transmission, although I found the Toyota to be surprisingly underpowered.
      I wouldn’t say my experiences were all negative, but I just wanted to point out a few things to help buyers make an informed purchase , Safe travels in your truck brother, cheers!

    I purposefully bought my 23 TRD Off Road, double cab. It came with free oil changes, an 8 year bumper to bumper warranty, a Trifold tonneau cover, running boards.
    We had been saving money for 10 years to pay cash for my Tacoma.
    I’ll drive it until I die.
    The narrator does nothing but bitch about his Tacoma. So my question is, why did he buy it if all that he does is bitch

    I have 2022 trd pro manual. Love it. I did OTT tune and very much like it. Hope the next truck works for you

      I have heard great things about that tune! I would’ve certainly done it had I kept the truck, and if I get another one down the road, I will certainly look into this! Cheers!

    Hope the chevy works out for you.
    I have 2 co workers that have had ongoing trans and display issues. One of the opened a lemon case.
    I have the same truck and it works out for me great. But like you mention in depends on what the needs of the owner are.
    The only issue I have with my manual trans. Is my clutch pedal is to high. I will be adjusting it down to the level of the brake pedal hopefully and that should fix my issue with that.

    You do realize rust doesn't form over paint right? It's just dirty

    • @mikealarie007
      @mikealarie007  Před 26 dny

      @@jordanmccowan5251 its rusting . It’s a known fact that recent Toyotas have poor paint quality, not to mention- drive to any dealership and look at the stack of frames that they have in inventory to swap out rotted Tacoma frames . a friend of mine had to have his truck purchased back by Toyota Canada because of a massive recall on them rotting. I know a lot of people think Toyota is the be all / end all - But I have owned many of them over the years and they are just not as good as they used to be- probably has something to do with the fact that that many are made in Mexico now .

      @@mikealarie007 that's simply not how oxidation works. There would have to be pre existing rust on the body before it was painted. Which is highly unlikely

    Looking to get into a 20-22 trd pro myself, MT as well. And it’s most likely going to be white also. Aside from the surface rust stains, have you noticed any paint peeling at all?
    Can you elaborate more on the manual? All of my vehicles have been manual & this won’t be an exception.

    • @mikealarie007
      @mikealarie007  Před měsícem +1

      @@mrb401 id recommend getting a product like clear 3m wrap or Laminx film and have some areas covered to protect the paint . Also rust proofing is a must - as we know these dont have a good history with rust.
      If you plan on using this as a recreational trail truck , that’s a different story- but I would try to protect it as best you can.
      As for the manual transmission, I found that it actually shifted better after it was broken in after several thousand kilometres .
      The clutch would be stiff only in severe cold temperatures , so depending where you are that might not be an issue. I’d recommend give it a good test drive before you commit.. really look at the fuel consumption as well, as you really gotta run these at higher p.m. to get any real horsepower out of them.
      I’ve had full-size trucks get better mileage , with v8s . Nothing against the truck it was fun., but make sure that it’s powerful enough for you and that the box will accommodate your needs. Cheers.
