Great Video! I recently changed the rear pads and skipped a few of the essential steps you mentioned just before the MOT. Lo and behold, my efforts were in vain as I failed the MOT for the hand break being below requirement. Only wish I took to the time to watch your video, (especially the end on allowing the pistons to adjust before lifting hand break) prior top changing the pads and could have said myself a few quid on a re-test. Live and learn!
At the end of the video you mentioned about wasting all the handbrake adjustment by pulling on the hand brake first before pumping the piston up to brake discs via the foot brake. Absolutely bang on there mate. I paid a £100 to a mechanic to adjust the handbrake on a Renault Master 2007 motorhome and it was ok for about a week. I noticed it first when putting the vehicle on levelling ramps on sites. Just got back from a month away and it barely holds on medium incline without ramps.The mechanic said maybe we need to check the handbrake cables now to see if they are stretched. Sounds like I may need a new mechanic. Thanks for the video I now understand the mechanical handbrake system at the caliper. Doubt the mechanic will appreciate me telling how to do it though haha.
that sounds exactly what the problem would be to be honest, its easy to miss, maybe your guy was just having an off day! its like anything, its simple once you have an understanding of it inst it? hope the guy gets it spot on for you, you dont want a beast like that rolling off! difficult to explain to the insurance that one :)
hello I came across your video by chance and without looking at the screen and I did the same as you I don't understand English but I noticed that you said to pay attention to the rubber protection of the cylinder and I thank you for that can you tell me tell me why you put seed on the side of the brake pads thank you

hello thank you for your interest, and if you put copper grease on the outside of the brake pad, it reduces brake squeek.
Why don't you have a very basic tool like a calliper wind back tool £10 to £15 ?
yeah so i do have the tool, but a lot of people dont, so was trying to show how to do it the poverty way :)
