How to piss off rival Japanese car companies part 1
@@heliumtrophy When is the part 2?

If not any of those companies pay for film publicity and being the 2 more popular brands in USA I tend to think they mix them together.
good eye
Dirt oval racing (just called dirt racing in the US) is pretty interesting. I’ve only been to one night of dirt racing but it was fun. If you’ve watched any NASCAR and seen guys make huge saves there’s a good chance those guys grew up on dirt tracks.
Go watch 410 Winged Sprint Cars. Absolutely insane in person, wear safety glasses and a thick longsleeve shirt.
why the need to say what it’s called in the us?
@@randomman57 bc it's weird to say/type dirt oval racing when that isn't what we call it lol
@@EricBurns1 we don't call It dirt oval racing in nz ethier bro
@@randomman57 The funny part is that everyone in the US just calls it "Dirt Track".
You don’t watch Transformers for real physics and science. You watch the movies for giant robots, fast cats, guns and hot chicks.
Edit: lmao I didn’t realize I wrote “cats” but neither I will change it XD
nothing gets me going to cinemas more than high speed cat racing

Transformers is a great example of fighting the stereotypes, just like this movie

When Josh mentioned Driven isn't available on NZ netflix I was fully expecting it to be a segue onto the vpn ad
Especially as the video is actually sponsored by a VPN.
Me too😂
As an IndyCar fan, please never talk about Driven ever again.
Fun fact: Driven has it's own video game🤣

Man, this movie really shot itself in the foot with its title. Lady Driver!? It sounds like a crappy Asylum production ripoff of Baby Driver.
Probably made by thr asylum
I thought thats what it was before this vid.
@@unknownuser8228 Decided to look up who made this movie and actually no, it was not made by The Asylum at all. They were too busy with Masterpieces like Battle Star Wars (The Rise of Skywalker ripoff), Homeward (Onward Ripoff) and Top Gunner (One of Two ripoffs of the recently released Top Gun Maverick, The sequel being "Top Gunner: Danger Zone" because they REALLY wanted to make sure you knew what they were ripping off despite having a limited theatrical release)
Seeing dirt racing content on this channel absolutely made my day. More of a Sprint Car and Midget guy, but this is still awesome to see, was never expecting to see dirt racing on here.
Ya dirt is really cool. Growing up in the Northeast USA there wasn't really any dirt racing so I'm used to paved tracks, but dirt is fun. My flex though is that super modifieds are very prevalent where I grew up ;) For those that have no idea what I'm talking about, look up S1apSh0es video on them.
I'd argue this is basically Hailie Deegan's early life except with like... 3000% more artificial cliche drama
3000% more artificial cliche drama = bog standard Hollywood shenanigans
My Racing movie when growing up was Herbie Fully Loaded. Having never heard of this film, even I can tell there's a lot of story beats that are repeated in both movies. I guess there was a certain structure for movies of that plot during that decade.
I don't care what anyone says. Herbie fully loaded is a great racing film
@@CaptainLicorice anyone who says they don't like a good old underdog story is a goddam liar. 🤥
I just want another racing movie with the same level of production as Ford vs Ferrari 😔
Technically not a movie but Audi's truth in 24 is also a good one. Might wanna check that out
@@alieffauzanrizky7202 I'll give it a look!
I would say Rush is easily up there in terms of production value, and overall a better movie than rush if you ask me
@@alieffauzanrizky7202 The porsche endurance documentary was similar to this and it showed Porsche at 24h of Le mans, and 24h of the nurburing.

That style of dirt Modified(known as an "E-Mod" but only regularly referred to as such at tracks that are on the borders of Big Block Modified Territory - AKA, the Northeastern US) is one of the best, and possibly even THE best, balance of cost to performance in ALL of motorsports. Depending on the specifics rules in your area, you can get a competitive car for 20K all-in(and they top out in the 40K range) and good maintenance will keep the same engine and chassis racing competitively without a rebuild a for SEVERAL years. There are HUNDREDS of these things racing on chassis originally built in the 80's that are still winning races today. The only class of cars that might be more numerous on American dirt tracks are sprint cars, and that's only due to a rise in prevalence of restricted-engine variations(Late Models have had the same issue and been saved by the same thing, but they're definitely NOT as numerous as Modifieds).
I just wish they still used the 1990s narrow-body designs. The modern widebodies make them too Late Model-like. But they're still a bargain by comparison(late models prices START where Modifieds top out), and put on great shows - there's plenty of videos here on CZcams to take a look at, people! Get on it!
Please do a review on Speed Racer(2008).
🙌🙌🙌🙌
This is one of the greatest movies of all time
12:01 The way her dad said, “Lucas Oil Speedway,” absolutely sent me. Legend
12:22 He is encouraging Ellie like a brother and telling her to win the race😊😊😊
12:37 "and her mom was filling in for her spotter for the evening" As you do
As much as I love racing, I detest films about it. I'm in it for the racing itself, not for the stories around it and eccentric characters. They try to depict 24h of Le Mans for instance, but the magic of the event is that the race lasts 24 hours. You can't convey this sensation through a 2-hour movie no matter what you do.
Thanks for helping fight the stereotypes, Josh
Really weird seeing her right after the first episode of new Stranger Things season. Things don’t go well for her. This cheered me up, thanks Josh.
4:00 GP2 engine haha
I love how your animstions are getting better, I remember when it was just a bitmoji
I thought the pacing in the movie was really well done I just got finished watching it it almost felt like it ended fast and left me wanting more but the movie flowed Soo smoothly to a nice couple of climaxes that's how you can tell whenever a movie is really well done that it covers everything and still feels like it ended too quickly and makes you crave for more it's great
I really liked all of the smiles jokes and feel good feeling from the characters personalities
Been subbed for a while and after watching this video thought I'd check on how many subs you've got now Josh, ONLY 320k!!! Literally makes no sense, the editing and style of videos are amazing and are always a good watch. WE NEED TO GET YOU TO 1MIL SUBS!
If you are searching for a sports-drama movie, I suggest watching "Veloce come il vento" (or "Italian Race" for the international release). I think it's actually a good film :)
isnt kimi antonelli in it?
Try and give a chance to Baby Driver. It's not a racing driver movie but the driving scenes are outstanding.
Also, the obviously best racing movie ever made, the Speed Racer movie
Don’t forget Baby Driver perfectly encapsulated the entire career of Kevin Spacey.
13:20 the greatest moment in Ellie's life...... a dirt race victory 🙌🙌🙌🙌
13:30 Ellie holding a 1st place trophy for the first time 😊😊😊😊
The editing in this video is amazing. Hahaha. The script was also amazing. Loved the video.
Dirt racing was the first motorsport I loved. Was out at a local track every weekend when I was 5-7 years old.
3:59 that "GP2 engine" killed me :D
Josh, your incredible delivery just make this so believable. Horrendous. But also obviously all our teenage racing car driver wet dreams where we have some random uncle with a winning race car stuck under a dusty sheet in the shed. So there is that time where I lived my wet dream vicariously through a teenage girl in middle america in some random straight to netflix movie. But I pay my therapist a lot to deal with that.
10:30 Josh got uncontrollable anger 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
10:35 Josh got pissed by the Title of the championship😂😂😂😂😂😂
New Zealand accent intensifies
I thought he was British😂
Your videos are brilliant, the humour gets me every time
I watched this at your suggestion and I totally loved it. What a sweet film. Usually that wide eyed teenage ingenue thing is REALLY annoying but she really pulled it off.
Great video definitely gonna have to check the film out. Love dirt track racing and modifieds by extension Such fun cars to drive. Rewatching a couple days later I realized that that’s Bobby Pierce’s number 32
As someone who grew up in Petaluma, the saturday night races were damn near EVERY saturday and you could hear the cars at the fairgrounds from miles away
I love you man, I love how you just say everthing you want to say about everything. Keep it up❤️!!
I was waiting for that surfshark Segway earlier on when you could not find driven on Netflix but you baited me, and for that I applaud you
4:01 Nice alonso touch there
7:47 DAT RANDOM EXPLOSION (V8 Supercars Race Driver did something similar)
You gotta do the original The Love Bug from 1969! Actual racing scenes filmed in California and depicting stages of the Monte Carlo rally.
Loved the video and the same people who made it also made Bennett’s war which is my favorite movie ( even if it’s a little simple) which you should totally take a look. That and Alabama Dirt. Grand Prix and LeMan are legendary motorsport films but sometimes you go back to the basics with movies that are simple.
I loved the movie . It was nice to see the story actually good. She found what her dad was about. She found her hidden talent. To me was a good family movie.
Love the MAVtv product placement....or billboard placement
Good thing this video is 15 mins long because it's gonna take 15 mins of convincing to make that argument viable
Lol.
In all fairness, it’s nice to see my home state make an appearance in this film. Lucas Oil Speedway is quite the dirt track for anyone interested in the place. I haven’t been to it yet, but I have on my bucket list.
But I still find this movie cliche in its writing.
I really enjoy these movie reviews
The lead is Grace Van Dien, the daughter of Casper Van Dien (and he's in this movie as her dad).
If you're looking for racing content to watch, I'd recommend Pegasus. It's a Chinese rally movie on Netflix, there isn't much racing in the movie up until the end, but it's worth the watch IMO.
Sounds cool I'm in!
Hey,josh make more movie review,man.
Love your content,dude.
Petaluma and Sonoma raceway are like 20 minutes away from where I live! Im definitely watching this
I race dirt late models, I'm super surprised to see you make content about it and this movie. Very refreshing.
"Waikaraka Paark.... Roaringg in the daark!". Yep I grew up around the NZ dirt scene. Funnily enough there are heaps of kiwi Sheilas involved in New Zealands speedway family and kiwi fellas make them welcome. I knoww🙃
Doesn't the phrase "super bowl of something" just mean that it's some hyper-obscure event only one country on earth cares about? That's how I always understood it.
It’s an American movie in America thus the Super Bowl reference
Now you have to watch 2019s Trading Paint, John Travolta stars as a retired oval racing legend whos son starts racing.
Regular Josh videos... I'm all for it.
overall I liked this movie. The part that bugs me is last race with the dad on an in car radio as a spotter. That isn't a thing. Dirt track racing doesn't have spotters. Only kind of radio they get is from race control telling them where to line up or when there is a yellow. The drivers can't talk back.
Can we get you going off on some of the Fast and Furious franchise? Physics be dammed!
7:47 fuck yeaaa action essentials explosionnsssss
Theres a bunch of these movies made by forest lucas(lucas oil owner) most are motorsports related the rest are save the harvest farm movies.
The boondock saints guy thats in this is also in an mma movie made by forest films
Didn’t he do Bennett’s war?
Yo mate... Where did you get that version of the "Pure Imagination" song? Sounds brilliant
Two videos in a week?! We are all so blessed
Nice Vid, Surely you look into some Speedway events like the Knoxville Nationals and Chilli bowl
I bought Driven on DVD back when it came out. Still watch it from time to time.
Great vid m8. You should review the movie go karts maybe
13:56 that is actually how a track changes btw.
Taking a break from Formula1 so far the most relatable thing I've heard all day
Agree dude
After certain drama's today(which where total BS Btw) we do certainly need a break from F1.
Hopefully this will give him the opportunity to talk about other things like rally go karts and BTCC
Also being a kiwi finding someone on yt that speaks my language and has the same accent is great!
Great video as allways! I noticed you havent reviewed Rush, why not give it a go?
Cheers keep up the great content
Netflix had another racing movie (about drag racing, though) with kinda the same premise. It was pretty good. I just hated how they kept undermining the WRX hero car, when built 4 bangers were making over 700hp by then
This is one of the best reviews for a film I have ever seen 😂
Lost for words. Great vid!
Remember watching Midnight spares got some old school sprintcar racing from the 80s
Lucas oil speedway... As in the one 2 min down the road from me in Avon, Indiana... ??? 🤣
Wish I had the money to be able to just go from Cali to Indy at the drop of a hat!
"GP2 Engine" chef's kiss
I was a huge fan of the movie too, i hope they make a sequel of it where it follows her career
Right it really left me craving for more
Uhhh, chili bowl as the dirt “Super Bowl” ehhh, I would say maybe the Kings Royal or the Knoxville Nationals… and would lean more on Knoxville. Don’t know what that is? You might want to look it up.
Love your vids, do you think you could do one of Christian Lundgaard? Do you think he can be successful in indycar?
I like your shirt Josh👍👍👍
Josh, you have Stockcar oval racing in NZ and AU right? I wanna see a video on that.
Only one true paved oval track in Melbourne, but it never took off past early 2000s.
We do have many oval dirt tracks though.
Watching this right before seeing the first episode of the new season of Stranger Things was weird lmao
Great. Now I want to see a movie with a buffed Theo Pourchaire in it. Thanks. I guess. 🤷🏼♂️🤣
13:53 The shifting in the F&F movies is actually realistic for the most part, they just have tuned the cars with more gears, so it just looks unnatural
I’m sold!! I’m watching it tonight!!
This is the best movie review channel on CZcams
Took a gamble with this video and it was well worth it
0:14 Issac will kill you all😂😂😂😂
0:20 Issac Newton hold a movie and insults it for ignoring his laws of physics😂😂😂😂
dirt racing helll yeah brother
Days of Thunder was my favorite as a kid
I thought the 0:45 line was gonna be the segue into the VPN ad and I was tricked! Tricked, I say!
0:51 Excuse me josh but here in New Zealand we don't do dictatorship JOSH!!!!
Totally forgot that I watched this film. I'd never watch it again, but it was fun.
Never seen this and now I want to watch it.
This is why I still buy physical media and don't rely solely on streaming services. I have Driven on a US import blu ray. Think it's open region, but for anything that isn't, that's why I own an open region 4k blu ray player.
Glad to know Driven is worth having a physical copy version of.
@@Iwatoda_Dorm Like Josh says, it's one of those films you really should not like, but it's enjoyable none the less.
Would never call it a classic, but it is fun if you realise it is ridiculous. With Indy cars at the time their fuel if on fire would have invisible flames, but in this film they had to add in typical Hollywood explosions for instance. It is an entirely ridiculous film, but I always enjoy when I watch it.
0:39 I thought you were going into a vpn ad there
3:59 GP2 ENGINE
Are you planning on reviewing any of the Herbie movies?
So how long until you review Rush?
You should reveiw The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix or Speed racer!
Josh knows about the Chili Bowl....fuck yeah. Such an insane event and car, perhaps a vid is in order hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized just how many NASCAR drivers grew up on dirt tracks. I wonder why they stopped dirt racing in the '70s and why they didn't bring it back sooner. It looks like a ton of fun
Because manufacturers wanted their brand new fancy cars to be on asphalt and happened with all major usa. You had higher speed and more danger which brought in more viewers
