so, what this movie taught us is that if we wanna run as fast as how quick Indycar goes, we have to drink nitrous.
Mmmmmm yummy
I think that's how Jimmie Johnson prepared for his season
Yep
That's The average drink in Alabama
@@Caspercab Lmao
Fun Fact: An IndyCar was parked inside the DreamWorks studio during production, to provide artists immediate access to the race cars featured in the film
they still got it wrong though, there are wheel covers on top of the rear wheels irl. there were none in the movie
The cars in the movie are fictional designs. They look nothing like the DW12 cars that raced in 2013.
@@bungieman2810 I think they had the budget for naming rights for the event but maybe Dallara was putting rocks hence the close but fictional ones seen in the movie
@@bungieman2810 even as I was a kid in 2013 I saw that the cars weren’t exactly like the DW12s and it BOTHERED me💀
my guy went to imdb and pasted the first trivia.
You know you live in a simulation when a movie about a snail has the most realistic indy 500 in movie history
It does?
@@ridgefrost most realistic doesn't mean it is 100% realistic, it is just the most realistic out of all other portrayal in other movies
@@etriganthedemon666 and how close is it to the real thing cuz it seems pretty accurate for the most part
compared to what other animated movies?
Awh you guys mean there wasn't really a turbo snail racing.
Typical artistic license. I bet he was a duck
I was a kid when i first saw this movie and i told my friends with great conviction that drinking nos will make your eyes glow , they still bring that up now and then.
i mean there is nos energy drink and with stuff that got put into them, I would not bee too surprised if it made eyes glow
yeah relatable, you do one silly thing and they'll remember it and bring it sometime
bit annoying isn't it ?
@@rotua98 its a bit of fun and only my closest friends know about it , they dont bring it up everyday so when they do its a good laugh for us all, but yeah ive had other ppl make jokes on my expense and it gets a bit annoying if its repetitive.
No you weren't, you were 32
Wow I know kids can be dumb but damn. Maybe they are right movies and games cause problems in children.
F you for that
The movie was a good development for motorsport animated movies. The only motorsport movie before Turbo was Cars which was very dominant. It was good to see another movie based on speed, which did help develop other racing movies such as Planes (Yes it's racing)
Planes 2 was better imo
@@bungieman2810 Tanish was talking about animated movies
@@except_nothing fr
Well the quality kept dropping didn't it
@@except_nothing Nah the 1st one is better imo
this is the literal defenition of 'random ass motor racing movie'

I wonder how weird it must have been for the writers who pitched a movie about speeding snails to the studio!
(Speeding Snails are tight!!!)
Wow wow wow wow.. Wow
Actually super easy, barely an inconvenience
Maybe, but MONEY
Oh there was a lot of speed in that studio alright.
The studio must have gotten all the way off the pitchers back for a lot of this movie
"... who is almost *INSULTINGLY* French... Even if he's French-Canadian."
Never stopped Jacques Villeneuve, did it?
Nothing stops him.
Nowadays he comments F1 in France and is kinda known for his kinda brutal and dishonest comments.
Quebecers are actually kinda like that though.
Snails should beware of a French accent.
@@guysmiley3030Everyone*
A real french would have ate that snail in no time instead of racing it.
This needs more likes
Watching this from the perspective of a gran, who's got her grandkids into motorsports lol*, I think this isn't a bad film at all. Based totally on this video, that is, because I'd never heard of it before. I can definitely see kids between 5-10ish thoroughly enjoying it, and it could well kickstart a love of racing. At worst, you've entertained some kids for however long it is. Thanks for doing this, Josh, it's one for me to look out for!
*For parents/grandparents whose kids aren't that into racing: sit them on your lap or next to you, use your arms as "seatbelts", and screech around corners in time to the cars or bikes on screen, dip down either side as you do; move forward and backward with appropriate tyre noises on the straight... It's great fun! I always try to save some races on the box if I know they're coming. Much easier and less tiring than chasing the little beggars around lol!
Wow, you're one badass grandma, I wish you were mine !
Home made 4DX is awesome, nowadays you have to pay 20$ for the same thing at the movies !
hi grandma
It's a great movie for kids, I've even seen it and I'm in my 30's with no kids 😂.
My favorite part was when Turbo said "I haven't paid my TurboTaxes!" Truly a moment...
Even though it's weird, it's very nostalgic for me since it was one of the first movies I ever watched. On DVD.
You mentioned Speed Racer. I vote for Speed Racer next. It's honestly a great adaptation of the anime, also it's a guilty pleasure.
Never understood as a kid why this movie never got any sequels. As an adult I understand why 🤣
It got a cartoon show on netflix

This movie was one of the catalysts for getting me into Motorsports, as a 6 year old, I thought the Indy 500 was just a fictional race.
Nearly a decade later and I’m obsessed with all forms of Motorsports. Still love this movie, even if it’s one of Dreamworks weaker films.
Indiana is boring
So far, this is the last IndyCar movie we got.
Funny how a Snail has raced in the Indy 500 and not Ferrari in the 80s. Funny how Theo has more 500’s than Hildebrand
"Maybe in Alonso's IndyCar movie..." - That's harsh, Josh! 😁 Back slightly before this movie came out, somebody on the crew that made it posted a clip of the IMS scenes from one of the movie's trailers to a motorsports forum board that I used to frequent & asked for our reviews of it. As someone who has been to the Brickyard literally hundreds of times (races, qualifying, practice days, just to go to their museum/gift shop), I was very impressed by their realistic, detailed depiction, & I told them so.
This movie holds a special place in my heart because I used to watch this at my Grandma's house and used to love it.
The fact that Turbo has a video and Speed Racer doesn't is an insult, respectfully
I have a turbo-themed blanket LOL
and I love it it feels so comfy
A snail actually did compete in the Indy 500, Max Chilton!
“Fast and The Family”
I gotta start calling that franchise that. XD
Lol, I actually love this movie. It's intentionally ironic, and I love it.
I saw one comment mentioning Herbie: Fully Loaded, but I think the better racing movie of the Herbie franchise is Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. It is a race that features bits of Laguna Seca (?!?) and Monaco.
my favourite movie when i was a child. Idk it was just so enjoyable and inspirational
Can't believe they didn't make any "French (Canadian) eating snails" jokes in this. Or if they did, that Josh didn't capitalize on it.
I remember wanting to see this for the simple fact that Snoop Dogg voiced a character...but I never did😅
While watching this video, one liberty they took that I really liked was that they went through the effort to (mostly) get the infield road course done right.
And remember Turbo had an animated series on Netflix called Turbo F.A.S.T and a fun fact about it is that Turbo’s voice actor is Reid Scott who was the voice actor of Mike in Motorcity!
Nice Linkin Park reference Josh! And a very good video about one of the strangest movies I've ever seen 🤣
I wss looking for this comment
@Varun Srikanth I'd have to watch the video again, but I believe at some point he said: "He tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it didn't even matter" I'll come back to you with an answer in less than 17 minutes
@Varun Srikanth 10:25
"Turbo starts passing underneath cars
"Which isn't that uncommon at Indy"
Caught me off with that one, Josh 🤣🤣
Thankfully they didn’t have the French villain try to eat the snail 😂
this movie is the literal embodiment of "implausible underdog scenario"
There isn't anything in the rules saying that a snail can't enter the Indy 500, but pre-race tech leaves a few things unsaid.
Thanks for remembering me of the fact that this film exists
I watched it in cinema when i was a small kid and honestly when i was like what? 6? 7? I couldn't really wish for more
Even if i knew absolutely nothing about cars
Even how the are moving
Yes! We did it!! We made Josh spend 15 minutes talking about snails!
What should we get hime to do next? 😂
8:05 There ain't no rule that a dog can't play basketball
I think Turbo does what it needs perfectly. Just puts a fun spin on this and make it suitable for kids lol. Personally i really like the movie lol
i just love that the snails are smarter the humans in the movie for some reason, like they know more about marketing and business which is insane :')
Nice to see some love for pegasus, that movie is hilarious and way better than I thought it would be.
Turbo was actually one of my favorite movies for dumb reasons, reason one, talking snails, reason two. I had a pet snail and he passed, RIP Slimeson buddy. 😢
Sick vid, already with the good humor and lightbulbs
Josh really did make me emotional about a Snail called Turbo that raced in the Indy 500.
Imagine a movie about a Bird competing in Plane racing, same thing...
WE DO NOT SLANDER TURBO THE FAST ORANGE RACING SNAIL IN THIS HOUSE
Josh dishing out videos on consecutive days. We have been blessed
Great video into a movie that captured my continued passion for all things motor racing. 👍 Even though it was a animation breaking all levels of human physics 😂 My next request that I think you should do next is a racing/heartthrob movie called “The Art of Racing in the Rain” a very heartwarming drama about a dogs narrating his life through the passion of motorsport.
I've been waiting for this review all my life
Turbo is one of very few Dreamworks films I've not seen... After this I may have to give it a look... 👍🏻
This is not what I was expecting when I subscribed...
This movie was a blast watching in the theaters when it first came out.
What we have learned is that his real name isn't Josh Revell
Why am I laughing, crying and cheering to this video about a movie that I have never seen...
Shout out to my fellow kiwi, your killing it with these videos!
i was always hoping for a turbo 2 where he does a road course
Bruh, Turbo would be able to take turns flat out if possible.
nah turbo 2 is when they do spy shit with snail villain
@@_RayNotHere_ frrr
I just love this movie for its pretty realistic cartoony detail and the fully licensed chevy traverse, interior and all is used by one of the characters, such a random car with that amount of detail
Watch this with the little one as she loved cars and we both enjoyed this….and thank you for the Knight rider reference, I love that show!
honestly I watched this a young child and I loved it so it has a place in my heart
13:06 It really did just turn into a normal Josh Revell race story for a sec
I love the scene where Whiplash asks turbo “are you a car?” almost with the same intonation that Jules uses to ask Brett if Marcellus Wallace “Looks like a bitch”
I feel like that snail would have literally just been taken by scientists-
I watch this movie for about 20 times. Idk why but I enjoy it even if tho it didn't make sense. It somehow inspired me and I gave myself the nickname turbo
I remember watching this movie a lot as a kid. I actually prefer the show Turbo F.A.S.T than the actual movie, but I did enjoy the film back then.
By the way, nice review, Josh. You should do movie reviews more often.
Wait , there was a show as well?
@@xosb9154 yeah. It was released 5 months after the film’s release. And it’s on Netflix.
@@SeamlessShelf35 damn. That snail is more popular than 70% of the f1 drivers ever
@@xosb9154 Yeah 😂
man i thought the show was a fever dream! i was obsessed with it as a kid lol
You should make a video about Scott Dixon, since he may not be very well know in Europe. But a man who can save fuel an tires while still being faster than everyone else is definitely one of the best drivers of his time
I’d watched this very recently for the first time in a while and instantly thought I’m sure Josh had made a video but here we are 😂
This is so nostalgic for me
Love the "LP - In the End" lyrics sptinkeld in there!
Your narration is incredible 😂
Apparently Will Power and Dario Franchitti were in this (the anchors)
I just watched it earlier. Was looking for a good review. Nice one.
going to watch this with the kiddo this weekend..
Me: Really excited and looking forward to Josh's video on Vettel.
Josh: Posts a video on snails instead
Me: Enjoys its still
11:10 I love the reoccurring trope of French drivers and coffee in racing movies. I tried showing my friends the 1971 Le Mans movie but all they could remember was the French guy asking the lady "would you like a cup of coffee"
Thanks, I'll now be stocking up on whip its or whatever.
I didn't know I needed French josh :)
I needed this video today. Great video Josh, now react to your 2022 predictions. (Please 😉)
One of the best videos you've done for humour.
Feel done a bit dirty by the Linkin park line but I've made peace with it.
Johs is on a fire video Streak rn
Such a great movie I remember watching this for the first time as a kid was a treat
For how goofy this movie is, the detail is immaculate. One of the most detail oriented movies I have definitely seen.
Now I'm really waiting for the speed racer video
I honestly want to see your reaction to the movie "Six Pack" starring Kenny Rogers. Plot is an old racecar driver is trying to earn his spot back in NASCAR but along the way he recruits a group of kids to work on his car.
Yes, a group of kids as top tier auto racing mechanics
Awww I like that movie. So I was craving racing during the off season of F1 and watched everything and on an obscure streaming site I found Turbo and was pleasantly surprised.
Ok but... you gotta do that speed racer video now lol
Apex meta
“As of the race needed any more attention” *plugs Indy 500 and sponsors logos*
as somebody who just went out the IMS
yeah, it looks like that and it's surprisingly intimidating to stand on
"That snail is fast"
back then, i was a fan of this movie, weirdly, i still enjoy that movie by a lot
Can't wait for your Days of Thunder review.
Love your videos Josh! It would be great if you reacted to the movie Planes
that stint of french josh is as funny as heck
man you didn't need to tell me to laugh, I was all over the floor. your commentaries man 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i used to love this movie when i was younger
5:29 Sorry dude no way I'm "Accidently in love" with that joke
i love this movie so much
never thought id see they day where THE josh revell did a vid about turbo
never expected a video about this... apart from being somewhat "stupid"(in a good way though), my first impression of it was actually that the indy race part "resembles" Herbie's Nascar race(a weird underdog coming out of nowhere with the antagonist trying to wreck protagonist('s car) during the race and ultimately losing). But yeah, it's weird if you take it too seriously but there's no need to do so, for me this is a half-decent movie that I actually kinda forgotten already but now I guess I won't.
Imagine if Herbie and Turbo had a 1-on-1 race.
As usual great video!
buuuttttt.
Speaking of Requests,
You should do a Review on Herbie: Fully Loaded.
I did like it when I was a Kid, I'd like to see your perspective on it.
I second this notion, was my fav film of my childhood
I use to love turbo when I was a child. I saw it in the cinema.
Man, talk about a throwback
Speed racer would be amazing! One of my fave films, and I knew it was made by car people as soon as I saw the Tag Heuer Monaco in speed’s locker in the opening scene 👍🏼
That snail was fast 💨
