I'm not NA based, so to me it actually resembles an old cassette player more than anything. Mostly the Philips one we had at home when I was a kid. To be fair, that old tape muncher carries more nostalgia for me than the NES. Great design.

Out of all of the Mini PCs that you’ve reviewed, THIS is the one that has my attention (mainly because of the retro vibe and the actual SCREEN)

As a memory validation technician, I almost spit out my coffee when you said "5600 mega 'things' per second" Marketing ALWAYS wants to call it Mhz, but It's mega transfers. Don't worry I wasn't mad. I almost spit up the coffee laughing. HIGH end Intel memory engineers just call it "speed" like "5600 speed DIMMs" I suspect because they are tired of everyone making their own units.
Looks like a cross between a TOS tricorder and a 80's video cassette machine. No Oculink is a shame, but it's not a deal-breaker for this cool little machine.

I hope that there will be a refresh of this PC at some point with the newer gen processors, because the overall concept is awesome! but as you stated the price can be quite high
Ouch, that price hurts! Would be a great deal for 5 hundos.
It does hurt, although i just checked the link and it's 439 with no ram or ssd and early bird indie gogo price, it looks really worth it to add them ourselves
it's not as much as buying a PS5 or Xbox Series S or X, but you can't find handheld devices in Walmart or Best Buy, that's the only let down

I really appreciate the pocket test on this device, I was thinking about making it my main portable driver but if it doesn’t fit in my pocket there’s no way this desktop PC will replace my Miyoo Mini 😂

If you like helsinger I do recommend BPM: BULLETS per minute, similar game. More focused on guns tho

I got the Barebones version, added a 4tb SSD and 32gb ram, Windows 11 Pro and it's awesome.
Currently trying a Batocera 1tb build booting from external ssd for my emulation needs.

I mean all the other mini PCs all look rather generic and boring... Props to them for making something a little different.
I just got a HX100G, a tiny little 720p/768p monster playing on my stone age HD TV.
Cost is the issue here compared to devices like the SER5 MAX for much much less and still plays most of these consoles perfectly well.
Hey, they can add a flashing time option. I miss my old VCR flashing at me incessantly just waiting and hoping I'd set the time. Someday. Sorry SONY Betamax SL-2300.

I went for the barebones, got my own Corsair 32gb and 4tb…Batocera as dedicated os. Kicks ass and the only device I can get Pilotwings 64 on without the shadow glitch

Yoo, has anyone tried to run those 12tb retro hard drives on a dev mode Xbox series x. I know its strong enough just dont know if its compatible.
For a retro PC at this price I would expect full-on retro support, like analog A/V outs, composite component SCART etc. If all it does is doing is HDMI, I don’t really get the appeal of using this instead of any other more reasonably priced SBC with a retro case. It would be a fraction of the cost and deliver the same performance. Hell I could play NES on my old Pentium 1 via Nesticle back in the day.

I owned the AM01 but was unhappy with the performance, this one is way better in many ways, the design is great and all but the price is still way to high for the specs, unfortunately

They're probably about the same performance-wise. Beelink makes great PCs. However I'd personally go for this one because I love the style.
@12:05 - The Ayaneo software is "entirely optional"? I doubt that. It's obviously going to be needed for the screen, the feature that sets it apart from other mini-PCs (which has the negative of meaning that you're stuck with Windows 11 - 😥 no replacing it with a Linux on this one 😥).
Well, like any other windows pc you can simply put Linux on a separate drive and boot to that instead so in essence, you're not necessarily "stuck" to using windows.
@@lexlopez15 Yes, obviously. However, you're likely to need their custom software to run the screen and its controls, therefore you are stuck with Windows 11 if you want to use the feature that is front and center of most of its promotion...
@@ogrejd sounds like you're crying over milk that hasn't even spilled yet...linux being open sourced, it's likely that someone somewhere will figure out a way to use the embedded screen just like they have found alternatives for windows and macs since day 1...
and if they don't, what are you really losing? Info on the computer's internal specs which you can get the same thing by docking a widget somewhere on your monitor screen? Come on dude. The little info screen is the deal breaker here?
The little screen that you physically have to get up or bend over to look at the temp and frames counter? Do you spend more time looking at what you're actually doing on your pc monitor or your pc's internal info?? Where's the logic in that?😕...if you do then you have some internal issues to worry about, and i don't mean from the pc... I suggest betterhelp .com.🩺🩻💊

Based on what design mini PC and emulation devices and Pi cases mostly use, Its easy to see who won the 8-bit console wars, maybe even 16-bit.

Cool, but Ayaneo cranks out way too many products for my liking. Makes me worried about quality control when theres always something new around the corner with them.

I still think Ayanoe need a linux port of there software, if windows decide put more stuff in to windows harder to remove take up performance as they don't need to wait for steam os to do so.
