I have been called “plastic fan” on social media for being a non-English Arsenal supporter multiple times, even though I have been supporting this club for over 20 years. And after seeing those supporters leaving the stadium against Villa after the first goal was sad. Heck, I saw the Arsenal live for the first time in my life against Sevilla here in Spain last year. I have been living in Spain for about 5 years now, but I wanted to wait until we got back in the Champions League to see my club, even though it was a big hit to my family income. I wonder how many non-English supporters were leaving the stadium early last Sunday…
Let’s get behind the players and support them. It has been an amazing ride and things are only starting for us. We can get a result in Munich. And, please, be there in the good times, and in the tough times too.

I have periodically left this comment for months now in regards to Timber, but ACL injuries often take 9 to 12 months (12 months in the worse cases if it's a complete rupture/tear and other structural damage occurs). Timber coming back isnt the answer because he won't have enough time to get up to game speed. Folks will only criticize Timber when he isn't the difference maker/playing to the level we say in August. Let that brotha heal up and be ready for next season.

Watching Cole Palmer unerringly producing the final pass or shot on goal time and again made me realise the lack of such a player in our team. The fact that Villa didn't play out as much from the back against Spuds like they did against us indicates Emery felt they could get away with a couple of mistakes against us coz we dont have a player like Son who is capable of taking even half a chance. The chances Palmer have been converting were much more difficult in my view than the one we have been squandering each and every game.

I completely agree. I've been screaming out for a 'maverick' type player. A player who has that X factor who can shoot from distances you wouldnt expect him to shoot from and find the net. Alexis Sanchez was that player all those years ago and it feels like we play very systematically and at times, robotically to create our chances and goals.

@@m.d8434 supposed to be martinelli, jesus and saka tbf.. world class saka still hasnt produced a hat trick or a 20 goal season for arsenal. He has a spell of 3 months every season where he scores and then he runs dry for 3 months. Martinelli and jesus doesnt even give us that, they bring a lot of energy but there is no direction and conviction to direct that energy.
I just wonder what could have been if we had a legit killer up front that could match the creative production of ødegaard. Ive followed martins whole career and he has never had a prolific goal scorer to really feed. His highlight reels are literally hour and hours worth of the most insane through balls and chance creations just getting wasted by mediocre forwards. It this point i just want arsenal to put the whole summer budget into a proper forward.

There’s the rub Tom! How does someone not recognize our ascension with Arteta? We are still fighting for the Premier League title. We are about to play Bayern in the round of sixteen in the Champions League. Now, where were we when Arteta took over in December 2019? That’s called progression. The process hasn’t stopped. We will improve our quality again this summer. 👍

Hello Tom. I would appreciate your opinion on this as it’s hard for me to put my points in the live shows because of the character limitations & the fact that I’m 6 hours behind England! In my belief, if the reason behind Raya replacing Ramsdale lies in the fine margins, then the same principle should be applied to Zinchenko. It is evident that Zinchenko has major defensive lapses, and this season there has been a clear emphasis on reducing the number of chances conceded. Tomiyasu, on the other hand, offers the defensive discipline that Arteta desires, along with the ability to play the inverted role, albeit not as proficiently as Zinchenko. He is certainly a capable replacement. I would like to draw your attention to Zinchenko's defensive shortcomings in the matches against Liverpool at Anfield for two consecutive years. In contrast, Tomiyasu does not make the same mistakes as Zinchenko, and this could potentially be the difference between earning 1 or 3 points. Also, I believe playing with Zinchenko makes the backline nervous. Fine margins Tom!

Mmm I'd agree that Arteta has done a lot to get us 'competitive' riff raff gone different work ethic etc etc. That's great as he's effectively laid down the groundwork to go even further. We'd all like to see that but one crucial factor you seem to ignore is that it also looks like he's not that person, the one to take us into finals to have a say into the last day of the season to have a say in where the trophies end up. You could argue Arteta is like the really 'good' pro that cannot deliver the great killer pass in the final 3rd...mmm as a player that's exactly what he was and for me he's showing when it gets to the business end of stuff he's the same as a manager. I'd love him to take us there but from his decision making when the crunch comes I cannot see him being that man

      I completely agree…
Our league form has been impeccable and yet he changes it for the toughest team we’ve played in the league in 2024 (except Man City) and puts a losing formula of Havertz in midfield whilst not starting either Jorginho or Partey is absolutely criminal!
The balance of the team wasn’t good and we always look shaky starting with Zinchenko when we have Tomiyasu or Kiwior on the bench to start there…
Rice was isolated in the middle of midfield…
I couldn’t believe what unfolded in that game.
Something dips psychologically EVERY time in April when the pressure is on and it’s crunch…
We bottled top 4 a couple years ago, we bottled the league last year and out of nowhere crucnhtime we crumble and hand 2 goals to Bayern and bottle it after Liverpool lose against Aston Villa…
If we do not get a result against Bayern the season is finished because I highly doubt Man a City drop any points…
I believe we can turn up and beat Bayern and not fold again.
If we bottle it again we have to look at the manager.

Hey Tom! Love the show and appreciate all the hard work you put in each day.
Towards the end of your video you discuss the juggernaut that is Man City, and I see one big difference between them and the Arsenal side Arteta has built-depth.
Man City have not been great against big six sides this year and honestly if you put Arsenal at their best vs city at their best, I’m taking Arsenal all day. But they do not drop points to lesser sides because they have the ability to rotate in quality that keeps everyone fresh all year long, even with the astounding number of games they have to play.
We have dropped points to Fulham, Aston Villa, West Ham because I do not feel that the consistency of quality is there throughout the team, yet. I’m hoping that we continue to be proactive in the market and build a competitive squad that can effectively rotate, but to expect anyone to be able to do it as well as City can is insane, given the lack of restrictions they had in place and nearly limitless resources when their squad was built.

In relation to the reactionary behaviour of a large portion of our fan base following that disappointing setback, it merely showcases that there is a kind of hierarchy that exists to fandom and that ultimately one of the costs of being associated with success is that you will automatically attract some of the more plasticy, parasitic and cerebrally challenged glory hunter types into it with their phones held high and only singing when we're winning.
When Leeds were having their little renaissance period under Howard Wilkinson and David O'Leary, I'd never before seen so many new replica white shirts on grown men suddenly come out of the woodwork, as opposed to young kids where it would be more understandable and organic.
Same with when Blackburn were doing their Harry Enfield 'loadsamoney' impression and gatecrashing the party. My youngest sister attended Blackburn university and I guarantee you that you hardly ever saw Blackburn replica shirts in their own town centre in comparison to United and Liverpool ones, and then all' of a sudden that blue and white quartered top was like the latest must have fashion accessory.
Ditto Newcastle and Chelsea, but most damning was being on holiday the summer before COVID, meeting a fellow Brit ten years my junior and wearing a City shirt in the hotel bar, who when I was referencing how I used to enjoy the setting of going to Maine Road, his body language, facial expressions and uncomfortable shifting on his chair screamed that he didn't have a clue what I was on about never mind when referencing the likes of Tommy Caton, Joe Mercer, Malcolm Allison, Andy Cole and the links between us prior to Nasri, Adebayor and co.

I think it's better to be angry and have something to aim for, than to be resigned to not being good enough to win the league, with City in their current guise. Unfortunately I'm prone to the latter kind of thinking, but making myself think the first way makes it less depressing to process the situation.

Bottlers. People are not using the word in proper context. Their either doing it for effect to get a response. Or they have no idea what it really means - Suboptimal performance due to pressure! - That means the players and team have to be able to perform in the first place, before the pressure being suggested by a given situation is the thing that causes the suboptimal performance.
If the quality of the player isn't good enough or they are not available due to injury or are managing minutes, playing through injury etc. the quality and capacity of the team is going to go down. It's a team sport so it's not just one individual either it's the team as a whole that have to be affected to perform suboptimally due to that specific pressure situation. Martin Odergaard played the 1st half not like a person affected by pressure so before using the term bottlers bottling it etc. Understand all the factors at play and contextualise the situation before reaching for the lazy inappropriate word or phrase. I have been so depressed and useless over this loss to Villa that i have not eating in 2 days. I have to make up my mind about investing my emotions in football, and Arsenal as a football club. My blood pressure have been going haywire. This is not good and it could be dangerous to me health-wise. Why should I invest in a sport that makes me feel so terrible.? I have a decision to make

I don't blame fans for walking out they payed thier money to see Arsenal bottle April for the third time in a row. If Arsenal went out fighting we would back them but the manner in which they capitulate is unforgivable.

Advice to all "Arteta out" people of the moment (Raghemon specially): go and become a Manchester city fan! You'll get your precious "trophies"! We won't miss you.You can always change to an another team (Arsenal?😃) when City get relegated for breaking the FFP rules!🙂

The game now is so warped by money and hype that recognising true value is lost, I simple cannot give a manager credit for winning titles with Messi in the team or for being Bayern Munich or Man City in their leagues, much less calling them _the best of all time'_
