Thanks for the vid i just picked one up needing carb work and you just saved me the hassle of recording teardown! You ever use that sucker with the snowblower attatchment?
Can you tell me the model number of that mower? I'm trying to order a new carburetor for that same one but all I can find is the serial number and code number.
I have a 160 like this and I took the transmission off and when it got put back on someone was helping me and the part that looks like a disc on the side of the transmission was taken apart in pieces. I think it has to be put back together right and I don't think it is how do I fix it?
That round disc is your brake rotor. There are also 2 brake pads, a caliper with 2 slider pins and one bolt, an actuator arm that attaches the brake pedal linkage to the shaft transmission/brake shaft, and one lock nut to hold it all together and adjust your brakes.
@stejef8338 Thank you for the reply. I've since got it put back together by looking at a photo off the internet. Now it doesn't want to start like it 's not getting fuel, even with a new fuel pump.
I have a John Deere 160 also. I had the hardest time starting it. To make a long story short, I had used 30 wt oil for oil changes in the past. Apparently, this mower doesn't like 30 wt. I changed it to 5w30 oil and now it starts like it did when it was new. Full choke, crank it until it fires and immediately move the throttle to the run position. Starts every time...
1OlBull I took care of the carburetor, fuel filter and spark plug but still did not work. Called a small engine shop and he brought it back already.Said nothing is wrong with the stuff I did. The problem was near the gas tank in the tube. He said all they did was the compressor on and it blew out a chunk of crap. But thanks to this channel, my work was all good.

Worthless video skipping the important parts
