Im so glad i found this video because i knew what's wrong with mine, but i could not find that kit on amazon for the life of me LOL thanks for the link !!!😇😇😇😇
Dude your a life saver when you said the gasket in here I looked was twisted and deformed thanks for the content!!!
Awesome 😎 glad it helped
Thanks for the video. The screws come out real easy.Mine is almost glued in.
Thank god i found this video, i just spent the last hour tryin to figure out why i was almost flooding out my clyinder, and i found this video, thank you!
No prob
The gaskets go on the plastic part first before you put back to geather
Thanks a million for this. I have an old Craftsman riding mower/B&S motor, and it started to flood and leak and even filled up the top air inlet with gas after I was done mowing. I'm going to try this out, thanks!
I am fortunate to find this video as you have pointed out that little O ring inside the carb and that little brass piece that falls out so easily and you my friend showed me exactly what to do and I happened to have an O ring set with that particular O ring so thank you so much for taking the time for showing those two things, what a life saver without costing a fortune.
Glad it helped
Thanks for that video, sir. Ordered a B&S carb kit that has that little o-ring along with the other gaskets, etc. Thought about getting one of those new cheap Chinese aftermarket carbs and just replacing it.....but figured it would be better just rebuilding the original one. Btw....the Briggs kit is about $15 cheaper than the John Deere one....same exact kit too. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Thanks, this o ring did the trick on flooding, cranked up & was smoking real bad, changed oil because gas was in oil.
Yep that o ring kills those carbs and leaks bad glad you got it fixed
Thank you for this!! Only wish you had shown how to remove carburetor!
Good video Andrew! I like to put the gasket on the plastic part and drop the carburetor onto it, instead of doing it upside down. Good job nonetheless.
Good idea lol
@@RepairGang 😅 i like to do thing the hard way me too .
I have socked the oring in brake fluid and installed it, worked fine most of the time 😮
Awesome 😎 I need to try that
That worked perfectly. I got mine out of a harbor freight seal kit.
Yeah perfect. I've used those harbor freight ones before. I don't know if that's the blue or the red that works best
Much easier to poke it into the plastic channels instead of the carb face. I like to add a little thin oil to them to help them seal too.
That is an "o" ring. If you have an assortment than just match it up. Thanks for the fix!
Thanks for the video great tip also you can buy a new carburetor with all the fixings for about 25$
Yes some people hate aftermarket
I just put an aftermarket on mine, now it us surging really bad. Gonna fix my original carb that only had the flooding issue
Thank you it works now it was the o ring wasn't very good now it starts and runs great that's what I do for a living thank you very much brother 🙏🙏
awesome
Thx so much
My carb was flooding so badly, at times I would see fuel under the mower, and it would no longer start. I'd come back the next day, and it would run again. I tried all the tricks I could find on CZcams. I finally figured out the problem. It was the little rubber tip at the end of the needle valve. The tip was cracked about half way through and leaning to one side a little. It was an easy fix, once I figured out this was the problem. I had the mower looked at twice by our local shop, but they didn't catch this.
That's sad that your local shop didn't catch it. If you came in or told me your lawn mower is flooding. I know exactly what the problem was. It's very common. Maybe they just didn't care
Agreed!!
Curious, did they still charge you??
I assume they did and told you a carb was needed?
What did they charge?
Thank you sir. Exact problem I had
Glad I helped you out
I thank you so much I just fixed mine.
Worked for me thanks for the video.
Glad it helped
Great job and great video, im gonna do this, could this be why I'm smelling gas when I'm mowing?
Go for it!
My dad's mower flooded all into the crankcase. I just got the o-ring kit and the small o-ring as you show here looks good just like the new one I just installed. I'm hoping the old one was dissolved a little from ethanol..... as again it looks good like the new one. I'll be trying it out tomorrow
Well let me know. Yeah cuz just a little bit will cause it the flood so putting in this new o-ring should fix your problem
@@RepairGang Yes sir I'll let you know how it goes!
Problem fixed. Thanks.
I've noticed now on Amazon where most people get these aftermarket non-OEM gasket sets, that there are a large percentage of people saying the big gasket fits fine but the small gasket is wrong size. It's a bummer since that is the one you actually need. Have you had this problem?
I wish people would get to the point in these videos I've had the thumb down a half a dozen of them because you want to tell me how to do everything else except the repair I'm looking for.
Much appreciated ✊🏾
That's also an o-ring you can probably get one in an o-ring kit.
Thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm dealing with one of these carbs right now. I ordered another one that should be here soon but I can't wait to investigate the old one to increase my knowledge.
Yeah I sure it's thay o rign
@@RepairGang Great to know. I am a new small engine mechanic, maybe four year's in now. It is amazing how many new things you learn everyday doing this type of work. Thanks again man!!!
Or if you use ethanol free gas this isn't an issue, or if you have a different carb that doesn't use that little gasket this isn't an issue, but if your needle/seat or float is bad, any carb will flood.
Good video helped alot thanks for making it
Thank you for watching
Had a s…load of gas blowing out of cylinder when I removed plug. That small o ring was toast so I’m guessing that is why. Think I’ll just throw a new ready to go carburetor on in case there are bits and pieces throughout the carb. Will check the oil to make sure no gas got in it.
Thanks!
No problem
I just realized this was from super things. Thank you so much for helping out the channel!
Appreciate the tip
I see your givig a good tip and no reason why you can't use your trusted tool for ours and your benefit for same helps all.
Appreciate it bro that's exactly what the h*** was wrong on mine
Glad it could help
What tractor are you fixing? I have a 1995 Deere STX38 (black deck) and having a carburetor issue and not sure what my prob is. I was told carb "hydraulic lock" and unsure if i need to replace the whole carb or if its only this issue.
Good video!
Thank you kindly my friend
My 15 yo craftsman has never tasted ethanol, and the o-ring was deteriorated just like yours.
DON'T SEE IN YOUR DESCRIPTION THE GASKET KIT PART NUMBER.
Does it matter how the brass piece goes in
Ethanol is the cause of nearly every engine problem I've had.
I feel that my guy but if people use it and don't let it sit 90% of the time the average person will not have a problem.
And that's why I stopped using ethanol fuels and either run non ethanol fuel which in my town only 1 station runs it and it's the 91+ only or I run canned fuels from Lowe's. I have ran regular but I mix stabilizer in when I do
I did this to my craftsman lt1000 17.5 hp Briggs it still floods when I shut it down.then hydraulic locks and I have to drain the oil.any other ideas?
my carb looks just like the one you have but without the lone o ring
It should have one
Keep up the good work !
Thank you friend
I ahve the flooding, but I just have a float, needle, seal, like a normal lawn mower carb has. Cub Cadet. I guess I need to see if I have the assembly that yanks off like that.
I was wondering if you could tell me what’s wrong with my lawnmower my lawnmower would not start so I was thinking that it had a bad carburetor so I replaced it with a new one and it still will not start if I choke it it will not start but if I put my hand over the air intake to choke it it will start and if I spread my fingers apart to barely get air inside of it it will stay running but if I remove my hand it gets too much air and dies
100% something's gummed up and your carburetor and your fill lines in your fuel pump or you got bad gaskets so I take it apart again. Re-clean it and see if you can fix it again and replace all the o-rings and gaskets. Make sure everything is there from carburetor to intake and so on and so forth
Can this be the same for Husqavarna khoeler ?
Yes
I ran mine out of fuel last year so i just left it empty until it was time to mow again this year. When i filled up the mower it just kept bubbling through the carb snd filling up that bowel where the air cleaner sits. Do you think this is my problem? That seal?
Yes sir I almost positive it's the problem
@@RepairGang man i thank you so much. I’ll get on it as soon as i can get me so gasket kits. Do you think i need to worry about fuel in the crank case?
I flood out when I put the break on is this the same issue?
Could be
Good deal , those carbs sure are a "PITA"
Lol you know it friend
The brass fitting fell out. Which way does it go in?
Smaller side goes in first
Would this be why my carb starting spraying gas into the air filter and leaking?
Yes 100%
This is why I only use ethanol free no matter what. Ethanol just degrades the rubber over time no matter what.
Right just hard to get for some people
@@RepairGang yes, I understand. People think just because they burn thru the ethanol fuel, that everything will be okay.
@@NewVisionLCS it should last a lot longer if you store the machine inside but out side with reg gas and you looking at 6 months to a year before your replace lines
@@RepairGang I keep my equipment inside and only run ethanol free gas.
So my little o ring and brass piece isn't in my carb.
Was your car flooding and running rough? Probably why? Unless it's a different carburetor it's supposed to be in there
@@RepairGang yea the whole cylinder was getting filled almost instantly with fuel. Im pretty sure the previous owner took it apart and lost those pieces. Thank you for your video it was awesome
@@dan79transam65 order an aftermarket carb they cheap
Why not replace the bigger gasket while your in there and have the part?
What way does that small brass piece go in. Thanks
Hard to say without seeing I would say the non-fat part facing up
After sitting all winter, found gas had drained into the oil, replaced the oil. Would this repair fix that problem or replace tge entire carbuertor?
Yes, you can do this. It's the cheaper method or you can just replace it. It's the faster method
My Murray riding mower (27 yrs old) will not start on choke. I eventually get it going but it takes some time. Is the carb flooding on choke and is that the reason it won't start? It turns over but doesn't start on choke. Is that a Walbro carb you are working on ?
Not a walbro, they only really make 2 stokes
Can that bigger gasket be the problem with the gas leaking?
Maybe but not likely
great video question, what's the pipe called that's connected to the carb mines cracked and made of aluminum Yard Machines 11A-546H229 (2007) cant find the part
Intake manifold is what I believe it's called. I would type in carburetor for whatever machine you have and take manifold
Since the intake manifold is plastic/Bakelite is there a torque spec for the intake bolts?
Not 100% that I know of. I just wouldn't go too tight. I've never had a problem with them. Come and lose. You can put a dab of loctite on there to help
I smelled gas really bad after i mowed and seen gas leaking from carburetor. Discovered gas is in my oil. Im assuming its not just a gasket. Any clue what i need to change?
its flooding somewhere in carb for sure
You need to install the gasket on the flot first to line it up I'm sure u ruined the gasket the way u installed it..just an FYI.
Well it worked
I want to bypass the electric solenoid under the carburetor and install and static jet screw instead. I'm thinking the soleniod is the problem, because it causes two problems. 1. Lack of fuel. 2 Floods the carburetor because its stuck open. Maybe the solenoid wires can be connected together and the solenoid replaced with a static jet screw?❤
just remove solenoid and clip the needle off thats how you bypass it
what if i lost the little brass piece
New carburetor is cheapest option
Hi Do you know how many turns out on the mix screw on Nikki carb? I can't find it anywhere.
Thanks
Not off hand I say in all the way out 2 turns
@@RepairGang Thanks
I finally got this 115 running today.
1. The breather tube had a crack right behind the ridge. I was spraying outside of the carb with brake cleaner and spotted it.
2. The fuel lines were crossed up at the pump. Finally got them straighten out.
3.one end governor spring is hanging on the lever. I have to figure out where the other goes. I can't quite make it out in the manual.
Anyway I got it running late last night and it sounds good. I forgot the oil that ran down on the muffler. I'd had the valve cover off. I let it run long enough to get hot several times and had the neighborhood smoked up.
But it sounds good.
Moving right along tomorrow I'll see if it will move..
Thanks again I appreciate it
..
@@RepairGang I think you nailed it again! Thanks again..
Which motor is this for? You mentioned the mower brands but not the motor. Briggs & Stratton?
Was for a 17.5 horse power Briggs I can't remember name of model off head
My Briggs & Stratton will start and run fine but after I shut it off gas leaks into the engine.
Does this fix that problem?
Probably not. The solenoid under the float bowl usually sticks in the down position which lets the fuel pass through the bowl and into the cylinder, through the valves and into the crankcase. Be sure to check your oil and if it feels really thin, or if it smells like gasoline, then you need to replace the solenoid or install an in-line fuel shutoff to stop the fuel from flowing into the carb after shutting the mower off.
What about the needle and float?
What about it you don't remove it . It's all in the white part you take off that you put right back on
I’m having flooding issues like this however, I noticed that my mower will try and turn over better if the spark plug is out. Could this issue in the video be my problem or do you think it’s more related to starter and compression?
Yes
adjust the valves. common issue with the briggs engines.
Did this exact thing and it's still putting gas in the oil and smoking like a mother. Not sure what to check next.
Buy a new carburetor
I was having a surge problem. Bought a brand new carburetor put it on and it runs okay but, it runs rich and I cannot bring it down. Is there a fix?
More than likely there's a little adjustment screw on your carburetor
@@RepairGang it's the same carburetor as shown in the video. I'll try to find a diagram. I'm certainly no expert on carburetors anymore. Thank you for replying to my question.
@@RepairGang Wait a second. Are you talking about the fuel air mixture screw? Because I have that out as far as it'll go without falling out of the carburetor. And it's still running too rich. Or are you talking about a different screw?
@@jimmierodgers2397 try pushing that screw in some more but what I recommend is you're getting too much gas. Not enough air so maybe your choke's not opening all the way properly. So check to see if your chokes working correctly or I would try to take off your air filter and maybe your air filter is clogged. If not, when I get a chance I'll look at one of the carburetors I have and see what I can figure out
What is the little brass piece called?
Jet
@@RepairGang thank you bud
What brand of carburator is it, I want to change it all, but hard to find the right one.
I'll send you a link here in a little bit
Ok thank you!
Do you believe it's my gasket it's a huskee I thought it was my spark plug but when I took the spark plug out fuel came out and more than just a little drop can you tell me what's causing this issue
Yes
@@RepairGang so I took it apart just like you showed already ordered the part or kits and the rubber o seal was almost just crumbled when I took it apart hi to take a super thin screwdriver to get it out cuz it wouldn't even just come out but you believe this will fix my issue
Which way does the small brass piece face? Mine fell out
faces up
What is the brass peice called. I ended up losing mine.@RepairGang
When you say flooding out are you talking about fuel leaking into the eng while it sits over time
Yes
As well as just pouring out
I had the same issue with my carburetor. The enginw was flooded. I took out the spark plug and cranked the engine a couple of time flushed out the engine, but its not flooded anymore. So it may be the issue you said, but alone Im not seeing any fuel passing into the spark chamber. Im thinking its the solenoid. It dies out due to a lack of fuel. The solenoid might be have failed completely, either staying completely open or closed. Where can I get a new solenoid for. Craftsman ?
solenoid will not cause flooding
@@RepairGang I had multiple issues. 1 the fuel solenoid was stuck open/closed. It didn't work properly 2. The float O Ring was worn out. 3 Bad battery. It was causing electrical issues and stalling.
Damn but all simple fixes let me know if you get it running
The carburetor needs to be cleaned before the kit gets put in
Yeah 😂
I already did this once but I still have a flooding issue! Any ideas?
I hate to say it but check that little o ring again some times you can misplace putting them in that little baby o ring is number one reason
What was your issue?
HẢBOR FREIGHT has them
Has what
Gas came out the spark plug when I went to replace it. How do I fix that?
got to rebuild the carb
Why is my oil reservoir filling with gas ?
Flooding carburetor
@@RepairGang replacing carburetor then. Thanks.
My craftsman mower has new carburetor and spark plug.
The previous owner said “it’s had a blown head gasket for a while but now it won’t start”.
I removed the spark plug and fuel pored out.
I removed the valve cover and fuel pored out.
I Did a finger test on the Spark plug
(⚡️👈 ) and it has power going to it when you turn the key.
Are you able to diagnose with this information and save me time?
Engine is an 18HP B&S 31P777 0299E1
Yes carburetor is flooding replace carb or clean it and drain oil and should be good
If it starts with starting fluid you should be go to go
I just put that little gasket on the plastic first and it floods right when I turn the gas on
It might be on wrong or got ruined some how
@@RepairGang I just tried it again little oring is staying on the plastic it's brand new I just got it 30 minutes ago
@@RepairGang but its still leaking
@@nickolasvaughn667 could be the wrong size ring idk email me pics
@@RepairGang I just got it from The mower shop but I'm going to walk back up hopefully he fixes it for free if not I'll just buy a carb
Someone has been in that carb before
Normally the case 😂
Dam I just paid 12$ for 1 gasket at the mower shop and as soon as you turn the gas on gas shoots out the front ports
Then it still bad
?? HOW ?? can this O-ring be the flooding problem the gas can't get to it unless the needle valve is overfilling.
''Gas leaking out of your carburetor?'' (( Float needles sticking or not sealing! ))
That o-ring will cause your gas to leak out and your float to keep letting gas in
@@RepairGang Sorry you were ''RIGHT''. I didn't that O-ring was before the needle valve thank you.
No problem 😁
OK so that brass piece
..mine isn't in there ...lol but I'm moving forward
it could have fell out maybe idk

Yes small engine repair is always better with jolly cooperation
The gaskets go on
Yep
U have part number
Not off hand
How do I really know when it floods
Hard to start is a good sign also empty gas tank. But if you think it's flooding you can light loosen the two intake bolts from machine and see gas dripping 💦
no not now not ever nikki carb are JUNK
Chri
What is that
The "Two dick Gasket" 😂
Also, if you get carb cleaner on it, you will expand it. It can be boiled in detergent water for 30 min, then baked at 350 for 30 min to evaporate the solvent out.
I need to try that idea
Who would do all that for w $.25 gasket??

So if you are a small engine repair guy how come you don't know the name of a main jet? Little brass piece, really?
