You do NOT need a new starter. They all sound that way. Remove the fuel line from the carb and then crank for a few seconds to insure the fuel pump diaphragm isn't dried out. If fuel is being pumped, reattach the line and push throttle all the way up. This will engage the choke. I would NEVER use starting fluid to start an engine, but that is just my opinion. Also, the seat safety switch only kills the engine when the seat is vacant when the mower deck is engaged. Good Luck!

The goop inside your tires is probably that stuff they put in there so if you ever have something poke your tire it's supposed to seal it up - it's really a bad deal because I took my tire off at the co-op and it was all rusted inside there because of the fluid, so really not good. You can go to Walmart and get those plugs in automotive that come with screwdriver like tools and you can plug your holes with that-works great even for your car. Kind of looks like strips of tarred rubber in a package - make sure you read the directions.

@@MCPHILL OMG someone actually answered in the comments nobody does that! Just imagine taking off the deck it's got all those clips-if you can point to each one as it unclips maybe that will straighten me out I think I have one on the right hand side that has a spring and a piece dangling down but I just can't make it out - I took it off I just can't put it back! Thanks!

I don't know how you're getting it to run when you're not sitting on the seat - there's a kill switch when you get off it it shuts off the motor you'll see it underneath your seat. I think you have to sit on the seat and push the clutch all the way in and when it comes to mowing you have to flip that yellow knob switch on the dash up that's the PTO. I'm having trouble hooking my deck back up to mine and it looks just like yours, if you can shoot some video underneath there that would help me out make sure there's enough light cuz a lot of times they film it and it's dark under there. Good luck!

He has the (heavy?) battery charger on the seat, maybe that's doing it?

You skipped over the install part which I'm having issue with. How'd you get the pulley on with the PTO and the steering bar in the way? I can't seem to find an angle to get it on. The old bearing was destroyed so it slid off.
