A few tips: 1) Unless the dealer has a magnifying glass, or it's the last bullet, he won't know what's actually in the gun. If he doesn't know what the current bullet is, he has a 50/50 shot at aiming at himself or you, regardless of what's in the gun. This is also why he wastes items a lot, and this also means he can't calculate the odds of lives to blanks. 2) Since it's your turn automatically at the beginning of the loadout, if there is a small number of bullets in the gun and you have items such as beer or handcuffs, you can prevent his turn entirely. For example, if there's two bullets in the gun, you can handcuff him and shoot both at him, you can use a magnifying glass to know for sure what both bullets are and act accordingly, or you can use a beer to lower the number of bullets left. This can also be good if the dealer has cigarettes to stop him from using them to heal himself. 3) In most cases statistically, it's actually better to shoot the opponent regardless of what's in the gun, except for a few niche situations. This is mainly because the dealer is an idiot, so for example, if there's a few live rounds left in the gun, as long as it's not the last bullet (since he'll automatically know what it is), he has a good chance of just shooting himself in the face. The pills at the beginning of the game also activate Double or Nothing mode, which is basically an endless mode where various things are randomised, and you can keep on doubling your score as much as you want, as long as you don't die. Edit: Remembered at the end of the video you said what's the best you can get score-wise. The initial score is randomly generated between 50k and 70k, but then Double or Nothing mode can let you increase that endlessly as long as you don't die.
one more thing: if the dealer has a beer, he uses it *no matter what*, even if he magnifying glassed and saw a live round (hence why at 21:00 he magnifying glassed into a beer, instead of the ideal play of glass into self-shot which iguarantees another turn since he knew it was a blank to THEN use a beer on)
Even if the dealer plays smart and aim at us everytime, it's better to aim at him everytime as well, cuz you got to go first, which means you got an extra shot at him at the end if you have an odd number of shells (5 for exemple),and if you have an even number, you will have the same amout if shots, so aiming at yourself is just playing the dealer's turn on yourself.

So Sean, you're supposed to use the beer when you're on a 50/50, so that you bring the chances to be tilted to one side, if more blanks then you can shoot self, if more lives you can shoot them. That's how you, in theory, can use the beers. Some specific scenarios you can do some other quirky shit but overall that's how they are useful.

At 25:48, I could just feel the hopelessness of the situation, the guy aimed a sawed off shotgun at Jack's face with no lives left and I just closed my eyes as he said: "Are you ready?" ...but all I heard was a click. And then came the epic comeback narrow victory!
I turned this into a card game with custom cards, there are blank cards, live round cards, and item cards, as well as cards that flip up and down between heart and skull for lives. My whole family is now gambling with this new game, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a while. Took MAX 1 hour to make, would recommend.

This game is honestly perfect for showing that in gambling there's not such thing as something being "due" every bullet has the same chance as the others in the chamber of being the one fired just like every colour and number in roulette has the same chance every time of being the one the ball lands on, it's why Casinos don't actually need to rig any of their games, your odds of winning big are so ridiculously low they don't need to worry about people winning

I think a lot of it comes down to him not thinking about what's _actually_ loaded in the shotgun and just thinking "Luck" will carry him. Not to mention using his items either too liberally, or too conservatively. You don't need to be a probability expert at this game, but you do need at least some basic understanding of numbers and be able count.
A LOT of his plays were statistically against him not to mention him forgetting about items and what rounds were still in the shotgun so it's no wonder he kept losing
Honestly I felt so validated seeing him rack all the live rounds by accident. You always assume the order with be alternating because of how many bullets are there, but we neglect that there still lies a possibility that 4 of the same will be on either end. I've shot myself enough times to start relying less on probability and more on the first bullet always being live (because fuck me I guess)
However there are multiple times he could have just said "fuck statistics" and used an item to guarentee a hit/not lose a charge. For the 1/1 loads he had a beer both times but didnt use it and just hoped he would get lucky.

Not to mention the insertion of the shells is fairly random, and even in cases where you have 50-50, there's always a chance of multiple lives or blanks stacked up. Even with 4 shells (2 Live, 2 Blanks) the combos are: LLBB, LBLB, BBLL, BLBL, BLLB, and LBBL. Given the odds, simply put there is at least an 80% chance that the round in the chamber is live and a 60% chance the one after that is live.

for anyone that studies omens, over-confidence in your abilities is a sign of bad luck, Jack was boasting about his Irish Luck to help him get through the game; this is a form of bad omen in which he was punished for it. It's often seen in games where a person who claims to be very good is defeated by someone who just started playing (over-confidence brought them misfortune and so the worried newbie manages to beat the over-confident professional)

its truly terrible luck. especially since the game doesn't cheat, and the dealer operates at a disadvantage to the player. So basicly to determine who the dealer shoots the game makes a coin flip unless the dealer knows whats currently in the chamber. The dealer only knows whats in the chamber for two cases a magnifyig glass or its the last shot. The dealer uses items without any strategy unless it knows whats loaded in the gun. So the player should have an advantage by going first, and because the player can pay attention to statistics and knows how many live and blank rounds there are
I really want to see Jack wise up to the strategies of play and try this again. He made a lot of blatant errors, most notably handcuffing the dealer and then shooting himself instead of just firing at the dealer twice to use the free turn.

I turned this into a card game with custom cards, there are blank cards, live round cards, and item cards, as well as cards that flip up and down between heart and skull for lives. My whole family is now gambling with this new game, and it’s the most fun I’ve had in a while. Took MAX 1 hour to make, would recommend.

So while Jack didn't always do the optimal play, he did have insane bad luck. Still finished without actually dying though! Very entertaining watch.
This game is honestly perfect for showing that in gambling there's not such thing as something being "due" every bullet has the same chance as the others in the chamber of being the one fired just like every colour and number in roulette has the same chance every time of being the one the ball lands on, it's why Casinos don't actually need to rig any of their games, your odds of winning big are so ridiculously low they don't need to worry about people winning

I need a compilation of the unluckiest moments during this playthrough. It's such a statistical wonder how many times Jack got shafted in this game.
I think a lot of it comes down to him not thinking about what's _actually_ loaded in the shotgun and just thinking "Luck" will carry him. Not to mention using his items either too liberally, or too conservatively. You don't need to be a probability expert at this game, but you do need at least some basic understanding of numbers and be able count.
A LOT of his plays were statistically against him not to mention him forgetting about items and what rounds were still in the shotgun so it's no wonder he kept losing
Honestly I felt so validated seeing him rack all the live rounds by accident. You always assume the order with be alternating because of how many bullets are there, but we neglect that there still lies a possibility that 4 of the same will be on either end. I've shot myself enough times to start relying less on probability and more on the first bullet always being live (because fuck me I guess)
However there are multiple times he could have just said "fuck statistics" and used an item to guarentee a hit/not lose a charge. For the 1/1 loads he had a beer both times but didnt use it and just hoped he would get lucky.
@@unlikelyspecimen244 You should always assume there's a live round in the chamber, because it statsically makes more sense to shoot the dealer. Not to mention the insertion of the shells is fairly random, and even in cases where you have 50-50, there's always a chance of multiple lives or blanks stacked up.
Even with 4 shells (2 Live, 2 Blanks) the combos are: LLBB, LBLB, BBLL, BLBL, BLLB, and LBBL.
Given the odds, simply put there is at least an 80% chance that the round in the chamber is live and a 60% chance the one after that is live.
The way Mark's playthrough is the luckiest I've ever seen, and this one is the unluckiest, is WILD to me.
The fact that Sean just never used the beers at the start of rounds and instead left it up to chance was both funny and soul-crushing.

He dies and doesnt attempt a new round" but then you win!!! The only luck that mattered was that last moment and boy did you get lucky!!!

its truly terrible luck. especially since the game doesn't cheat, and the dealer operates at a disadvantage to the player.
So basicly to determine who the dealer shoots the game makes a coin flip unless the dealer knows whats currently in the chamber. The dealer only knows whats in the chamber for two cases a magnifyig glass or its the last shot.
The dealer uses items without any strategy unless it knows whats loaded in the gun.
So the player should have an advantage by going first, and because the player can pay attention to statistics and knows how many live and blank rounds there are
I really want to see Jack wise up to the strategies of play and try this again. He made a lot of blatant errors, most notably handcuffing the dealer and then shooting himself instead of just firing at the dealer twice to use the free turn.
