Huggy's animation is phenomenal, especially how he use's his arms and legs to propel himself quicker in the vent chase. Brilliant character design by the game developers
Brilliant in that it triggers my claustrophobia 😭
Its much worse if you have a phobia on dolls/human-like toys
He is so fast and his animations make that extra terrifying
It is truly amazing!
I used to have a doll/plushie that had these long limbs. Kinda like huggys arms and legs. The way huggy moves is intensly life like! Like the sloppy hanging. You can clearly tell there is no muscle in there. But yet he can move and some how still maintain that? it's insane to me.
Because the animator for the Huggy is a minecraft animations animator, Zamination to be exact. Enchanted Mob also is the exclusive producer for the game too! You can see that there is a game trailer posted on their Minecraft animation channel.. also the 'MOB' in MOB Games has the same logo with Enchanted 'MOB'.
The scariest thing about huggy is that he's not running or screaming its that he's so calm and his movements are so smooth
True that
It's just clean and perfect and it makes it even more terrifying
Yet still unnatural
Also the animation is really well-done
YES! it makes it even more scary because it looks like he's just so desperate to eat u lol.
I love how animated and cartoonish Jack's *_"WAAAAAGHHHH"_* screams sounded during the vent chase sequence
Someone actually turned that into an animation 😂
Especially 16:53
19:02 Glad jack made it in the game. congratulations jack.
I found out who Jacksepticeye is, just because of the voice in the 2nd chapter lmao

Everytime I see Poppy, I can only think "I'd punt the fuck outta that doll" and I can't tell if that's healthy or not.
The vent chase was honestly brilliant. It starts off with you thinking your safe from Huggy because he could never fit, but then he ends up chasing you. And he seems so calm, and his movements are so fluid. The fact he was so big but not big enough to make it look dumb was terrifying to me. And the way he also used his arms to make himself go faster was a nice feature too
Yeah that was rly cool and creepy
In realty, he's faster then the player when he sprints. He just walks slow most of the time
I love the way they started the chase. No big fanfare or anything, Huggy just starts lumbering towards you out of the darkness.
the fact that he moved so slowly in the initial chase but sped up during the vent rush and kept using his surroundings to get to you made it horrifying. His dead eyes never left you and with the way he rushed at you so excitedly was spine chilling. That and how you can see his weight in his movements. He’s heavy and you can see that weight being pulled by his arms when he scrambled after you, but not in a robotic way. You can feel the bad intention and motivation. he felt genuine, he looks like a simple kid’s toy but the way he moves is very much sentient and organic.
I loved how he was so scared of him
the fact that he actually did a voice in poppy playtime chapter 2 was so funny
Not the first time he was in a video game.
@@sarahlehman2960 okay?
@@sarahlehman2960 he just saying hes funny
He also voices a character in sonic prime
Not just a voice, an actual appearance
"Don't fire at a coworker, this may cause decaffination"
By far my favorite quote.
Ah yes, the hands have anti-caffine measures installed. Technology has really come far these days.
@@camstierman3285 yep. Grab-Packs don't cause any injury, there 100% safe, but can cause someone to lose all the caffine in someone's body to disappear.
It’s a nod to Hot Fuzz!! One of the policemen officers (another joke lmaoo) says it when told about a decapitation /lh
I read that as defecation-
I like how the developers don’t have huggy chase u instantly. Instead they let the suspense by making u know ur being watched but not chased
It’s more scarier knowing that you are being watched than chased
Because when you’re being chased you know that but if you’re being watched it will keep you more on edge
It made my skin crawl and I loved it, the feeling of being watched is much worse than being chased immediately. I have a feeling that Poppy Playtime will be the next big horror game, behind FNAF and Batim.
Gives you somewhat a false sense of security
Do you have timestamps where you can see him watching?
her name being poppy and being scented like poppies immediately reminded me of how people used to carry poppy flowers in their pockets and things during the black plague to cover up the smell of all the death. considering how likely it is that there’s a deep connection between death and the way the dolls were so incredible is dope i love it
Poppies are also a natural painkiller so they were used to sooth the pain of injured soldiers .
Poppies also are a symbol of death since they grew a lot in cemeteries.
Poppy’s a a symbol of death and don’t really smell very nice. Poppies actually grow in abundance in soldier burring grounds from the world wars.
is that not posies?
@@leonieodowd3177 oh wait u might be right!! sorry i learned abt this in like my 6th grade history class so maybe i’m not the most reliable source im a senior now😭

True

Man the fact that this guy is GENUINLY interested in the lore, and guessed it so right at this point is amazing
Literally all Huggy's doing in the vent chase is... chasing the player and it's still one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen in a horror game
Yeah why is it so creepy!?!
If you've ever played Bendy and the Ink Machine, you might have noticed how similar the Huggy chase is to the one near the end of BATIM Chapter 2.
@@sarahlehman2960 that chase sucks though
@@yeahbuddy7217Why do you say that?
Claustrophobia-inducing surroundings, low lighting, lack of visuals, and just the way Huggy moves would be my guess.
“we also pride ourselves on our security.”
“it’s not too late to turn around.”
“i just hope that you’re certain whatever you are doing is worth it.”
there’s so much foreshadowing in this chapter and it’s so cool.
"That is one of the more tame aspects of our security."
same energy as “warning: multiple leviathan class organisms in this area. are you sure what you’re doing is worth it?”
I love the "i just hope that you're certain whatever you are doing is worth it" line because it reminds me of the subnautica dead zone
They know that they created monsters?
@@koleszgdanska7149 From what I'm picking up the game seems to radiate a lot of similar vibes as Bendy and the Ink Machine, and I'm going to guess that someone on the higher ups probably figured out how to make toys more human by putting a soul or something like a soul into a toy. Maybe they made Huggy as security but the soul or something wanted vengeance and went haywire is my guess.
how he doesn't blink and is constantly smiling adds a lot of fear. he is completely sentient too, a lot of horror games think that the hunter (in this case huggy) has to be screaming like a banshee and sprinting around, but because of how lanky huggy is he can just stroll around like a monkey. amazing design and animation too!
edit: I recommend watching matpat's theory on the lore behind this game, it's an interesting prediction and he says that huggy wuggy is in fact an organic being, hence him shedding blood (and other clues)
He like a monkey yes :)
The fact that he’s pretty much a stuffy too with no spine adds to his unnatural flexibility which also adds to the fear factor
honestly that’s what scared me the most
uncanny valley
Huggy not having any audio like screaming adds to the fear in my opinion, especially when all you can hear behind you is the *thunk-thunk-thunk* as he chases you through the vents.
absolute props to the game devs for how ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING they made the vent chase
My favorite line is for sure
"No..stop..go back.. oh well can't read that I'm stupid!" I died laughing
Gave the same energy as “murder….oh no….police….”
The fact that he's walking instead of running, because he knows he could end you at any time he gives you a chance to run just for his entertainment. It's just unsettling.
i think he actually has an unused(not yet at least i think maybe) running animation and it’s p creepy
That’s definitely unsettling, but it’s also terrifying when a baddie decides to straight up sprint after you, you don’t get any time to think, just sheer panic
@@GhostInPajamas Yeah but something about his calm walk just terrifies me more. Like, we always expect to be chased in horror games, but never for the monster to just calmly walk after us
@@lostcause7529 True that.
Look I just feel like it's cool that I was one thousandth like to your comment, also I agree
The scariest thing about huggy isn't his speed or size, it's that he's smart

So many of the animations are smooth as hell. The GrabPack, Huggy, it amazes me this is indie
@@ihavekalashnikovyoudomath9275 well they had a animator with LOTS of experience. ZAMimation I believe
RIGHT:D
Straight facts
Huggy bending down to get through the doorway is somehow one of the creepiest things I've seen in a while... Something about that animation is just so well done. Don't get a really good look at it in this video, but Mark's one has it showcased very nicely.
Jack's last words: "Good to see the stairs to hell are still blocked."
I just love how his eye movement at 10:32 He looks at Huggy Wuggy, looks away and back at him again to see if his eyes deceived him.
So apparently when you first "meet" Huggy and he's just standing like a statue there's a very slight animation of him actually breathing. Anyone notice that?
Holy shit you’re right
Personally I can't see it considering the character that we play as doesn't stay still so its quite hard to see :(
Im not even gonna scrollk back to see that, but that sounds scary as fuck.
CoryxKenshin noticed it but he’s the only one I’ve watched who has pointed it out so far. Good eye!
Yeah. He also has real human eyes inside of the doll eyes
This is why animation is so important in games. That vent crawl is truly horrifying. Plus all the small things like his arm retreating early on
And the vice versa can also be true for instance when it comes to Kraven Manor or SCP 173 where it is them not moving that is the scary part as you know the moment you don't see them they come alive. Weeping Angels too is a great example from fiction at least.
It's why my favourite fact of FNAF is that Scott was told his animation was too clunky and robotic. He took that criticism as constructive and now we have a long running series because of that. He took what didn't work about his animation skills and turned it into a positive. Yet here we see the skills of more fluid animation, where a noodle is following you, but is super creepy and scary as it does so.
This is also the reason why SOMA is the best horror game, the animations!! Not only the beautiful lore :)
This game is wonderful. The graphics on this match the level of quality I'd expect from a professional video game publishing company - seeing that in an indie game, well, that helps me stay determined.
When they're not being scary or threatening, the toys are actually kind of cute.
Sean: "Developers, if you need someone to do a log, I have a voice. I'll do it for free, I love being in games like this."

the way Huggy chases the player in the vent is legit A tier horror. The unnatural and fast way it moves around with its floppy arms just triggers some primal fear
Oddly, I was panicking just watching this and my instinct was to laugh and smile in a terrified manner. But it was so thrilling to see how the toys were displayed, either by slithering by the crevices or chasing you in a labyrinth of vents. And even if they weren’t moving it was unnerving and scary to look at the dead smile with bright eyes.
I watched it at 2:30 am on a school day so sorry if it’s groggy
It starts with an opening factory and a doll called “Poppy playtime” (not Huggy the big blue doll) it’s a red headed doll and during a commercial it ends with poppy saying “I’m a real girl… just like you” and the goal is to find the poppy flower with a card saying “we’re still here”
You walk into a giant room with a Huggy statue standing there(it’s like fucking 10 ft tall) every CZcamsr likes to high five him
There are floppy hands that you equip to reach high sensors but you start off with only your left hand
You lead into parts of the factory, learning how to activate generators with a rope
Eventually the Huggy statue disappears from its pedestal
You find different tapes to watch on a cassette- one was about interviewing a woman working in the factory saying how it brings joy to children before they grow old and die(creepy)
You lead into the toy making room and have to activate the machines to make yourself a toy tiger 🐯
After making the tiger it’s like an access card to a dark hall way
Eventually there is no other way accept the dark hall that you can’t see into, once you step up to it Huggy emerges and slowly breaks into a sprint after you
You go into the vent while he chases you down and maze through
Later you get out and crush him with a giant crate making him fall to his death into an abyss
You find the poppy flower and you hear banging noises wanting to get out on the other side of the massive wall
I totally forgot the last part so someone else fill in everything I missed and sorry if I got anything wrong
Correcton S TIER HORROR
15:00 love the voicecrack
I bet Jack never expected to be kidnapped and trapped in this game that he initially jumped into with no expections
Jack is a true gamer. He focuses on every single detail even in his first playthrough
It's a holdover element from his early channel days, when he would make a point to look around the worlds he was in and comment. He's still prone to doing an episode's worth of peeking around if he does a long series.
i mean...he missed to door at the begining area that needed both hands
He pointed out over 1 mil things I did not see
@@akizafoxxe7395 you can’t use it anyway it has something to do with part 2
he missed the door back when huggy disappeared with the two hands
I love how the “nobody leaves without a toy!” text became so much creepier because of how literal it was
That's what.. She said..?
I’m watching this on Valentine’s Day 2024 and I think the last log of this chapter is during the hour of joy
After watching the third chapter and knowing what the hour of joy is, it gives me a weird perspective when sean asks huggy if he ate the missing people.
"I just hope you're certain whatever you're doing is worth it."
This gives "Detecting multiple leviathan class creatures in the region, are you sure whatever you are doing is worth it?" vibes.
Lmao
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO PICKED UP ON THAT! Do you think it was purposefully phrased that way?
@@nextensi not sure, if it is then that's pretty cool, either way it is pretty fitting considering both leviathans and the blue huggy nightmare are pretty much natural disaster level of deadly
I thought that as well
Entering ecological dead zone, adding report to databank.
“Poppy wants to play”
“Jack wants to stay away “
That killed me
Ikr me too 💀
Jack’s offer to be in a log has aged beautifully
I love how Sean got invested in the lore and started theorizing as well. Some gamers would just say “good game, bye!” After finishing it.
"SCARIEST GAME IN YEARS" just that title alone brings me back...
fnaf all over again
lol
I KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWOWO
Flashbacks
Nostalgic title is nostalgic
The thing that makes this different from other horror games is that it builds up suspense before the scary stuff happens. And then when the scary stuff does happen it makes it seems like you have a way out so it builds even more suspense.
Yep. The atmosphere is super important in horror. Relying on jumpscares only gets you so far. Creating that underlying constant fear is what keeps it in peoples minds.
@@saltydinonuggies1841 It's also nice that the game doesn't look over the top or aesthetically scary. It has that uncanny fear of the unknown present throughout the factory, since it looks abandoned and not desolate. That makes the horror that much more, well, horrifying, because it's basically the game taking a violent left on the intersection and hitting you with its pickup truck.
So... just good horror..?
@@Newtie_100 Well yes, but with horror games it’s just “oops you did the the wrong thing jump scare now!” or “oh a chase scene has started!” , this one actually builds tension.
@@saltydinonuggies1841 true. That's what horror games like FNaF rely on. You aren't scared of the moment of the jumpscare, but the time before it. It keeps you in a state of anxiety.
10:22 "Why is there blood everywhere? Who died in here and why???" Oh poor Seán,,, looking back at this from knowing chapter 3 is just,,,, woof
FNAF: We have the best fear factor in any game
Poppy Playtime: hold my beer
Well yeah but Poppy has it for moments, fnaf has constant tension. Everything has its own way of terror.
That vent chase was cool. How your stuck in this tiny enclosed space with limited places to go, and how a Huggy is monstrously crawling behind you is utterly terrifying. Props to the game developers for that.
Nun massacre did it first
My claustrophobic ass crying aggressively in the vent sequence lmao
@@KrustyCleb these people did it better🤷🏾♂️
When a young child runs, their hands are outstretched just like your grabbers are in this game. The paradigm is turned on its head to make you feel like a small child running from your toy.
An adult chased by the demons of their childhood
I used flail my arms around as if I was swimming
Wow, I love this! I never thought about it like that!
No
"Did you eat them? Your mouth is big enough."
That did not age quite so well.
“This may cause decaffination” one of my favourite quotes of his lol
Most people have missed it, but when making the toy, the toy maker in the middle with the big eyes, it actually follows you and looks at you no matter where you go, its a pretty creep effect they did. Just thought it was cool.
Fr, i find it so creepy.
Maybe the machines are also made out of humans? I mean, when they were made(in the 60s) processing power was not even near that good.
Gave that thing a headache when employees were working. Or it's literally alive
It's probably one of the hidden motion sensors Laith Pierre mentioned
@@MigWith I heard a theory talking about this, hopefully we will see in chapter 2 whether it’s true, creepy as well because if it’s humans, then it would probably be children because of the orphanage
@@aliendog7627 oh yeah, damn good thought
Watching Sean play horror games like this makes the horror aspect a little less cause he always tries to make sense of everything or does something to make people laugh that throws off the horror. An gem among people
Okay.
Which is why it fun too watch lol
is he sean????
It’s crazy to see all the hints towards the prototype. After watching chapter three it’s cool to come back and see that that tape at the end was during the hour of joy and he was talking about how the prototype was the leader of the monsters.
19:00 they actually listened, wow
