Had an EV 8 years, I have yet to charge away from home. I wouldn’t even consider it even at .25p kWh. Total rip-off

I think you are being a bit generous to Tesla, the reason they charge a bit lessthan grid serve is because they can, where else are you going to go if you are down to your last few electrons? Why charge 45p if you can get away with charging 74p? I definitely think the cost of public charging is putting people off from switching. Those of us who have switched know that if you are 90% home charging and 10% public you are still way better off. But newbs see 85p and think that that their old TDI is way cheaper.

EV charging prices have far less impact on EV owner, than petrol or diesel prices on ICE car owner. Most of the charging, about 75 %, is done add home. some percent at work, leaving not very much to public charging stations.

Hi Dave. I am not sure if you are aware of something peculiar getting done by Powerpass/Elli? Against all odds they increased charging costs on key partner services. IONITY went up to 53p from 44p. I cannot see any sense behind this action. Essentially I’ve cancelled my powerpass and took IONITY subscription plus tesla’s. I guess I’m not on my own.

A few months ago I went to a gridserve charger and used my debit card, no problem, then a few weeks ago I went to the same charger and it wanted me to use the app, this membership thing will be why, they're pushing the app for whatever business reason they have, personally I'd rather just use my debit card like I could at every petrol station in the country!

Whoever programs the app don't seem to know what they're doing. AC charging is supposed to cost 49p, but on the app they're offering 20% off of 79p. As it's the 22kW socket on a 50kW DC charger, I can imagine how that went wrong. They really don't seem to have their sh... stuff together as a business.

When I started a business I was told to set prices at what people would pay. Look at md ds and Costa coffee. Never has the price come down long term as long as people pay the cost will rise.

Gridserve need to give 20% or they won't be in business? Are the public charging providers running a cut throat business where the weakest will fail? As you want to attract private owner EV converts (which seems to be your struggle), its not a good thing to have a price war, but to have stability in a small public infrastructure to rely on.

Tried a Tesla charger today in my Mini but it wouldn’t recognise the car. Was glad of the 20% on GRIDSERVE in the end.

Tell you what from Stafford Services to Knutsford on the M6 northbound the lack of chargers at services is appalling. Stafford, Keele, Sandbach, Knutsford have a couple of the old gridserves at each of them thats it for us non teslas!. Poor for such a busy stretch of motorway! you mentioned they other day about never waiting for a charger try Sandbach north on a Sunday 4pm... 4 cars waiting yesterday. Sandbach south is fine as it has loads of new gridserves its northbound they seem to have forgotten.

Enjoyed the 20% discount with a top up charge at Fleet Southbound M3, note the car park is chaos with lots of areas fenced off with construction. Also enjoyed the 3x Nectar offer for Smart Charge. While doing the bulk of my charging on Tesla. Despite finding a bank of failed chargers at Heathrow T5 with its horrible 15 min parking window!

M11 services next to Stansted airport. So, most people travelling more than a few miles. I had to queue to get in on Sunday 7/7 and struggled to find a parking space and the building was heaving.

Good news. I believe it should be 50p/kWh which is similar to the price of diesel.

I'm currently in Anglesey and have always been happy with few Swarko rapid chargers at 49p as of April 24 and wasn't a happy chappie with the new 72p charge.

Are there any apps that search and compare prices, I find most of the ones I’ve tried the price is hidden away in each location. Be nice to search a whole area and compare prices and availability in realtime. Thanks
