The Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody now rules the roost as the top movie in America, as every true Queen fan could have told you it would.
It is wonderful for the legendary band's legacy - proving to everyone that their music is famous all over the world - however, this also means that so many untruths are now enshrined as the biography best known to the moviegoing public. Yes, many things you saw in the movie were tweaked for the audience.
Now when you dig into Queen's actual history, the true version of their tale is, in almost every instance, far far more interesting. Freddie Mercury led band Queen, was larger than life and certainly larger than the standard-issue music biopic cliches that populate Bohemian Rhapsody.
Here, we talk about tales of music that your school classes probably never covered. In here, you will find discussions about some of the worlds greatest artists, stories about their personal life and the untold weird parts of their history!

The worst thing is they never broke up. The works tour 2nd leg ended in may 85. Live aid was 2 months later, not 2 years. Yes, they were tired and jaded, after tour but Freddie was never out and had to ask to be let back in band. The music is what made the film. Don't know why they changed so much, when their real story is so fantastic. I was very disappointed and wondered why Brian and Roger went along with so many things being untrue. The band was the best ever songwriting, arranging , performing and very hard workers. For 10 years they produced albums and toured til they finally took a break in 83. 👑 Queen best band ever!!!

    6. freddie didn’t live in his parents house during the 1970 period. he lived in a flat with the band he was in before queen.
    7. he was good friends with roger before they became a band. they owned a clothing store too.

Instead I went for the music. Long time I hadn't listened to Queen and each new song I was like "ah yeah that's true, they also came up with that one". They tried to recreate the ambiance of their shows, I think they did that right. They nailed the live aid concert (I am talking about the performance itself, not the context). In terms of historical accuracy it's almost completely ficticious, however what bugs me the most is Malek's performance as Freddie. In some scenes he is very good (like keep yourself alive song), but overall he misses the point. Freddy Mercury in private life and Freddy Mercury on stage were completely different people. In Malek's performance they are one and the same. And add to that that Mercury was a masculine guy. Malek makes him a stereotypical, sometimes to dangerously close to parody, effeminate homosexual.

Screenplays adhere to a fairly strict three-act format with events that generally happen at a certain number of minutes into the movie. The biggest problem with trying to make a movie based on a real band or person is that real life NEVER plays out exactly like a screenplay demands it to. That is why stretching the truth for drama's sake happens in virtually every movie based on real people and events, and why documentaries are the only type of film to watch if you want accuracy. That said, as a Queen fan and someone who is generally forgiving about the inaccuracy of biopics, I was pretty disgusted by how far off so many things were in this movie. It was hard to watch.

10:30 I loved the movie and being a huge Queen fan I did see some mistakes but I know movies take what they call “artistic license “ to make the movie work. Queens longevity could never fit into a 2 hour movie so I believe this is why movies get made this way. Don’t forget Brian May was one of the producers on the movie so I’m sure he knew some of the inconsistencies. Still a great movie!

I think the movie missed the mark. Freddie was a relatively private and shy person. He had a different personality on the stage. The movie did not distinguish the difference. Also Freddie was a chain smoker and you didn't see that much in the movie. He was also known for his generosity and that was left out as well.

The movie is really great, but looking at some aspects it looks like it was written in a hurry.
For example- Freddie found out about his illness only in the spring of 1987, but I understand that the film had to be made more dramatic ;)
Plus my little digression. Maybe not so imprtant, but... ;) In the scene where Freddie shows Roger around his house, he asks him to stay for dinner. He apologizes, saying he has to get back to his wife and children. It's 1980, so Roger and Dominique weren't married yet, and besides, their first child, son Feliks, was born in the same year ;)

What I didn't like was the portrayal of freddie during the recording of the mr bad guy album. It shows him as depressed and hateful towards the project (all during a separation from queen which didn't really happen). In real life freddie loved the mr bad guy album, and the way the film portrays it ruins it's legacy.

This video made no sense like the point of the movie wasn’t to make a documentary it was to have some fun make drama and just make Freddie happy. U can say all u want about oh Freddie would be so disappointed but no he wouldn’t he would love it even if the dates of the music were wrong. He did say I don’t care what u do with my music just don’t make it boring. And fun that movie was I old people just need to relax learn to enjoy some music. Don’t like it watch a documentary about queen

Not a Queen fan but I believe it is important not to rewrite history. A similar thing has happened with Pistol, the series about the Sex Pistols. Looks like lots of liberties have been taken with this Queen biopic. I thought Mr. May was an executive producer, so it's a bit baffling. My bro' is the Queen fan and I'll ask him what he thinks when he sees it.

After seeing many documentaries, reports ir interviews which showed both Brian and Roger ever present while the movie was being shot clearly intervening, giving specific attention, instructions to the actors, saying,"It's ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC"!!! A PG movie wouldn't give all the gritty real-life events of any of the band members, much less of Freddie Mercury himself because then it would've not only revealed deep kept Secrets of his personal life but, then the movie would definitely have to be rated R!!
Personally, I would have preferred everything told straight out how it really was but perhaps that would have to be part 2 with the real 💯% story of the Legend Band of QUEEN and our beloved Notorious Freddie Mercury ❤. Again, they said,"IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC" ..

    • @TexMexGenX
      @TexMexGenX Před 2 lety +1

Oh man!!! Sasha Baron Cohen would have given us an amazing Freddie Mercury!!! What a shame we, as fans of Queen and the movie, were denied this possibly. Brian May did say however that there's so much more to show movie audiences. He did not close the door to another film depicting the band.
A side note: I have been a fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury since I was a kid. Bohemian Rhapsody reignited my joy and desire for The Boys music. I have relearned all the words that I once knew and have watched countless fan made videos and documentaries about Freddie and Queen. That's why I love YouTub: Anyone can find a documentary about almost anything. As a history buff, I find this app to be my favorite.
