Ironically, when your end up donating to charity for a tax break, it’s no longer charity, it’s just a tax break. Sure the charity still gets the money, but it’s the intent behind giving it. When you give to help others at no benefit to yourself, that’s charity. When you give to help others bc you get something out of it, then you gave bc you got something out of it rather than to help others. Idk if you can claim tithes on your taxes, but if so, then that’s not really tithing either

Never donate to the onu for example, in my country a city burned down, they appeared with stuff, but all that stuff was donated, the money (that other countries donated to give new houses and food to the people affected by the fire) was never seen, some people got the new houses but with no plumbing or electricity, no doors or windows, some just recieved 1 wall. All because onu took their cut from the money lol
All these major grocery store chains use the donations we add onto our bill for their own tax wroteoffs
so donate to people or places directly. Easy... That's what I do... It's like saying don't give money to homeless people they use it on drugs. (Actually they will feed themselves by studies but regardless). I don't care, they may need that hit to live because the addiction is bad or it may feed them. I may spend it on drugs anyway myself lol so why am I better than them. If you have a few extra then do the right thing ya know? Help that person on the street or otherwise. I always will if I can
Always research organizations and charities before you donate to them. Research how much that’s donated vs how much is actually used to help their cause vs how much is given/paid to the CEO’s and others within the organization. I recommend donating to smaller organizations, nonprofits, rescues and shelters in your community. But still research as much as you can before giving your money to anybody or anything.
Actually 4% of the money we donate in those gas station jars goes to the actual donation. I dont donate to anyone but homeless vets and homeless single parents on the streets.
