I literally fell asleep 10 minutes in, woke up 20 minutes before the movie ended and was told by friends i missed nothing.
I was nodding off peacefully about every 10 minutes. A comfortable seat and this movie will cure insomnia.
So what you're saying is I shouldn't see it in theaters? Lol
it's january .. why even go to movies if you know january horror sucks smh
@@emotionalglooms because we knew it would be a shit show and the little bit that I did see was HILARIOUS and had me dying of laughter 😭
Lol I fell asleep too. Was bored outta my mind.
When the daughter runs away screaming and the dad goes "Marco??" that made me laugh and so did when he goes "You're supposed to say polo!!" 😂
Okay yeah those did have me cackling lmao. I actually enjoyed the movie overall but his line deliveries in the third act were kind of hilarious😂
It's all hot garbage. I wish Wan and Blum would stop making films.
@@jackwwalsh they’re literally the reason why the genre is as alive as it is today. If it weren’t for those two, we’d probably still be stuck in remake hell like we were in the mid to late 2000s. I may not like all of their output, but I do think we have to acknowledge what a horror powerhouse both of them are.
They're repeating themselves and whipping a dead horse. They are not good IMO
My favorite part is when they’re talking to the doctor and the dude like looks into the camera and goes “we got a pool 😀”
😭 my mother cracked up in the cinema at that part, oh my god
the concept gives more of a short film than a whole movie
It's based on a 2014 horror short
the scariest jump scare of the movie was the man sitting next to me sneezing really loud
😂😂😂😂
*SPOILER*
I totally agree with the ending making absolutely no sense. I laughed when they were filling in the pool and saying they can never leave so it never happens to anyone else. But like???? The pool is gone? Why would it ever affect anyone else. Also I was laughing because how SUSPICIOUS it must have looked that their father suddenly vanishes and they next day they're filling in a pool... If I was police I'd be like did you guys kill him?!
Pretty easy to unfilled a pool. Plus it wasn't the pool that was haunted it was the water from the spring. The spring is their regardless of what's on top of it.
@@mickdipiano8768That's what doesn't really make sense, or wasn't necessarily clarified. If it's the spring, then surely all the homes on that block are cursed regardless. What specifically makes that backyard pool the most dangerous entity if the tap water in the area is also cursed.
Because it got into the water in the house, in the end there was tap water in a glass that fell on the floor then vibrated and made the girl fall and get glass in her hand (so it could enter, just like her dad in the beginning when they cleaned the pool)
My understanding is that the pool isn't the only output for that water. by the end of the movie we saw it enter the tap water of that house. In Mrs. summers house too the fountain had the entity bec they had taken some from the pool/house water before leaving to keep her wish fulfilled (this relationship between the water and the possessed individual was explored by the Waller family too).
Also once the water has been given its sacrifice by one family, it doesn't bother that family again. That's why possessed Mrs. Summers says something like "you'll leave the house we'll get it from them" when she was taunting the mom
Your most accurate review yet lmao for a movie about a haunted pool, there was SO much baseball. Thanks for the laughs!
I used to be excited that Blumhouse was credited in a film but now they’re a dime a dozen. They’ve got some incredible films but I feel like they’re pandering at this point. Thanks for watching this for us!
They are 50/50. A24 is 80/20.
Ray's "is he okay?" delivery at the end made our entire row crack up laughing at it to the point where my boyfriend and i kept quoting it the whole ride home...safe to say we did not like it either lol
SAME, my friend and I saw it last week and are still quoting that line😂
I love that Saw poster with my girl Amanda in the back
I think this could have been an interesting concept. We see how much the Dad is struggling with his disease, and then the pool spirit tells him if he sacrifices one member of the family to it he can get his health back. And at first he says "hell no" of course, but he keeps getting worse and the pool keeps showing him visions of the perfect, healthy life as a famous baseball player he could have and we follow him struggling with deciding if he wants to go through with it, and if so, who he would choose to sacrifice for himself.
That would be way more intestesting than "whoopsie, I didnt realize I made a deal to sacrifice my son and now I'm possessed."
I don’t understand why this movie couldn’t have been worked on and perfected for a few more months and then released in the summer
Sarah, saw this with my girlfriend last weekend and we both laughed at the “is he okay?” line 😂😂 also laughed at the “YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO SAY POLO!” line. What a mess 😂
Not a horror film, but I am telling everyone about Poor Things. Technically, it could be considered a stretch on Frankenstein. Emma Stone is GLORIOUS and will win the Oscar for this part. It is super quirky, both funny & sad at times. Most definitely not for children, just adults. I loved everything about it.
I loved it too and I totally think it counts as horror!
@@s11j02 do you? I'm so glad you loved it. I really wasn't sure how to describe it truthfully, LoL. But, I was crazy about it.
@@CorpseBride64 Yeah def! Enough gore to count for sure, even the credits playing before it were mostly horror (at least at the theatre I went to)
I won’t be watching this one sadly!
Great film. Like steam punk meets Frankenstein. Odd but so intriguing. Emma was so weird but so relatable at the same time.
The new setup is really cool, it has a very unique angle!
Omg Sarah this review was hilarious 😂 thank you so much
I’m so mad Kerry Condon is in this movie. She was incredible in The Banshees of Inisherin. The paycheck had to have been massive cause she’s way too good for this.
100% true, it's bizarre
In an interview she made the excuse "Not every film has to be high art" but not every film has to be a shitty waste of time either
@@user-x7dc2pq7nliterally.. what an awful reason to give. If it was an alright movie at all then it would be a different story
@@user-x7dc2pq7nwhat interview
It could have been made first and just sat on the shelf till now because they knew it was bad. Wouldn't be the first time a terrible movie was released because someone in it started to make a name for themselves. It happens all the time. One of the most infamous of TCM: Next Generation which started both Matter McConaughey and Renne Zelwegger. Both of which tried to get the movie buried and we're almost successful, but once they got more famous the movie was released. It happens ALL the time with low budget, first time filmmakers and actors.
For what it was I had fun with this movie I was very intrigued by the water and how it somehow tied to old folklore
If they focused more on the folklore, it could have been great. But it was fun camp for sure
When the title of the movie is Night Swim and you know it's about a pool but then there's "too much baseball in it", you know something went wrong at some point
In all seriousness, this should have remained a horror short and nothing else
I love Kerry Condon in The Banshees of Inisherin and Better Call Saul, so I hope she gets a horror worthy of her talent in the future.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who kept laughing at Wyatt’s line delivery!! Basically everything he said in the third act had me laughing out loud! And I was in a pretty full theater and didn’t really hear anyone else laughing…
Would love to see you list movies that have great premises but terrible execution, because there's a lot. Or bad movies with memorable scenes. Love your stuff!❤
Love that you’re doing a Saltburn review even though I didn’t feel like that film was for me. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on Godzilla Minus One? Actually horrifying in my opinion
I'm surprised nobody else laughed with you with at that line delivery because holy sh*t he had to be messing with us there
This movie that I still haven't seen makes me crack up. Because every single review the person is sporting the same face as if to say " sooo Not what I expected, or hoped for even"
oh I 100% agree with you that all of the horror movie output SHOULD be good but like 75% feels like throw away trash. Like at least in the older days when movie were cheap cash grabs they looked decent thanks to sets/practical effects/costume design/cinematography. Now we have like none of that and very weak scripts that could MAYBE be short films if they cut out a lot of fluff. I've seen so many recent horror movies that are like 80% melodrama and 20% horror to the point it feels like the horror was added in just to get sales/attention. Like I *want* to like more modern horror but I have much better luck with older stuff
That's why I watch short films on Alter. They have really good horror movies. 10 to 30 minutes. They get right to the heart of the story.❤
So happy that you’re back! The unintentional break was well deserved regardless! 🖤
LETS GO I'm so glad you're back! Genuinely was so happy to see this video in my recommended
Dead Man’s Float episode from Are You Afraid of the Dark gets my vote for best swimming pool horror. It terrified and traumatized me as a kid lol
You got that right. Shorter and sweeter
i missed you! hope you continue to feel better
happy to see a new video from you! i had a feeling this movie wasn't gonna be that great and thankfully your review has saved me from the time i'd waste watching it lmao. i cannot wait to see your review of Saltburn!
Love the new setting and your outfit. 🤘🏻
20:25 😂😂😂 I was so enthralled in your video that when you said that I had to rewind and laughed hard, then you hilariously and subconsciously right after talk about the hose and her mouth right after 😅 keep up the great vids, welcome back, recover well, and don't sweat that silly stuff, your audience is here to enjoy your horror reviews and not make you worry about silly things
I’m excited for you reviewing Saltburn! I watched when it came out before it got trendy and recommended to you🙌🏻🙌🏻
Blumhouse? More like Blahhouse (I'll see myself out)
Haha, we love a Sarah rant 🤣 the best start to the new year
9:50 this movie was made by the guy that made the Scooby doo cyber chase game. All about that baseball 😂
They should have made this like Paranormal Activity, but with a pool.
that would have been interesting
Paranormal Activity is bad enough already, we didn't need to combine it with elements of this movie 😂
Welcome back 😊
Omg I’m so happy you like Saltburn and I look forward to that video!! It’s my newest obsession 😂
Happy new year!🎉
“Next critique: characters are STUUUUPID” had me CACKLING😂😂
Loved the dramatic sarah. So fun to watch😂
Horror as a whole is so profitable and popular right now but I kind of feel like Blumhouse is going to singlehandedly become the reason that it goes under again…just a factory pumping out mid quality movies every 1-2 months. It’s giving the slasher boom of the 80s all over again
and Marvel 👀
@@PossessedbyHorror This. And we’re already starting to see what’s happening with those at the box office within the past year (although that, I actually welcome lmao)
@@PossessedbyHorror i watched night swim today. it was a good movie..
@@johnrinella9267😂😂😂
Are you gonna see strangers chapter 1
my sister and i have been quoting “😐 is he okay” to each other ever since we saw this 💀💀
Her t shirts are always top notch! I love the green and purple on this 😍
REM: Night swimming deserves a quiet time.
Evil Spirit: NOOOOOO IT DUZZZZZZNT.
10/10 comment. Stipe would approve.
@@Garrett476 👍👍
the bloated water demon made me laugh so loud in theatures.
also the “you’re supposed to say polo” ….really 😭😂
Love your analysis! Regarding the baseball plot (huge baseball fan so loved that element) this is Wyatt Russell’s second film where he’s a baseball player (the Linklater comedy Everybody Wants Some! was the other) so I’m guessing that Wyatt Russell may have some early baseball experience pre-acting. I wonder if the baseball focus was added into Night Swim because he could pull off those scenes? Glad you’re feeling better!! ❤
He was actually a professional ice hockey player before he became an actor, so it's kinda baffling to me that he keeps playing baseball in his movies lmao
@@aliceramenhead Wow! Thanks for the info!
I like the new video angle and big saw poster!
Good review and cool video Sarah!👉🙂👈
Omgggg the “is he ok” got me too 😂
Love the hat and shirt!!! 💚
✊”I should not do that” 😂 omg so glad you left that in..just spit out my coffee
i could never pin point it but now that you said the serious or not comment about Wyatt Russel it made so much sense! I also felt the same about Black Mirror and also on Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier! thank you for putting into words what I always felt, ahahahaha
Thanks for saving me $7. Also, obsessed with your shirt!
Happy New Year Sarah 😊😊😊😊
😂😂😂 "shh, don't do that." 😅😅😅 I loved this review and you made me lol.
yes lets move on ... cant wait for Saltburn!
YESSSS SALTBURN HAS REMINDED ME WHY IM PASSIONATE ABOUT FILMS
3:58 yes! His line “ Marco” when he was chasing his daughter was so funny when I know the editing was trying to make it scary
I hadn't even realized it was a horror movie until after it came out.
I didn't see the trailer and I'm aware of a mystery/thriller book by that name, so I assumed it was an adaptation. (The poster looked ambiguous.)
I LOVE UR SHIRT OMG WHERE DID U GET
really stoked to hear your thoughts on saltburn
Hated it, so gross.
I’m not gonna, this is my favorite movie review ever! Very informative and entertaining 😂
If you’re looking for a supernatural water movie there’s one called “the drownsman” ! i watched it years ago and really enjoyed it!
Pyramid is another good one.
17:40 nice sorcerers stone reference 😂👌
I felt the same, I said to my mam leaving the cinema " it's a really good idea but the film feels a little half baked" also the scene where he's possessed and shouts " YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO SAY POLO" Had me laughing😆
"I wish this movie was simpler"
yes! I like your ideas and you should have written Night Swim
Love the thumbnail 😁 perfect expression for this movie
11:45: “you could probably come up with a better ending…”
*Drain and fill the pool.*
18:20: 😀👍
yess saltburn next plsss🙏
this movie only worked for me bc I'm disabled, chronically ill, can't swim and afraid of water lol, that's a lot of conditions for ur movie to be scary
I think the first synopsis you read from IMDb was a summary of the 2014 short on CZcams on which this feature-length movie was based. The short is just the woman terrorized by the spirit. 😮
The new setup is giving Anthony Fantano
I have this on my list to watch. Guess I’ll be sailing the seas for this one.
*Idea for the background:*
Would be cool if you had a green screen the size of a movie poster where the Saw poster is…and you green screen in the poster of the movie you are reviewing on it.
It's a Blumhouse horror movie that's being released in January.....of course it was terrible lol.
I watched Fish Jelly's review and they absolutely called out how this movie was such a wasted opportunity. An evil wishing well that demands human sacrifice? The writers could have leaned into that premise so hard. The family could have gone all in. Invite over a school bully, a rival, a nasty coworker, an entire neighborhood pool party fakeout 😈 of will they won't they.
This one needs a do over.
I was fortunate enough to see it with a friend, which made for a fun viewing experience even though the movie was a snoozefest. I gave it 3/5 stars because I had a lot of fun laughing at it and making jokes with my friend. I honestly don't know how I would have felt watching this alone.... probably bored af. It's the kind of concept that makes for a great short film (which it originally was), but can't really be... expanded into a feature length film. ANYWAY, it's okay. Fun to throw on for a watch with friends. Nothing memorable. Your review was spot on
😆 girl I burst out laughing when you said " but what about the son!" 😅 like be fr how did he last so long under the pool ?
I’m obsessed with Saltburn too,so looking forward to your video about that movie. I’m going to pass on this one. Maybe a late night watch but honestly I can find something better.
I watched Saltburn once and ..I didnt watch the trailer and I didnt know what was the story. Its one of my favorite movies ! Really strangely good! Ik gonna watch it again eventually.❤❤❤
I love the new setup! it feels cozy 🖤 and ooooh boy, that movie was... not good
Blumhouse movies feeling like a cash grab is nothing new to me. They've been making the same safe, generic PG-13 movies that are cheap and appeal to dumb teens who want to see nothing but pointless jumpscares, for at least 10 years, now. It doesnt matter what the quality of the film is to them. There's no artistry. It's just another product on the conveyer belt. Im surprised people are just now realizing it.
It is actually was the daughter said "That Dad It Didn't Want That" and the son says "Going to happen someone else" and then they cover it.
Yay can’t wait for saltburn!! Watched it last night… have been thinking about it ever since. Also big Jacob elordi fan now 😛😅
I just thought about the drinking water was also affected by the pool and does a little jurassic park moment
Thank you for posting.
10secs in, NEVER TAKE THAT POSTER AWAY FROM US PLEASE!!!!
Great review! Definitely won't be checking this one out. Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for recommending Triangle (2009)! I watched the film a couple days ago and really enjoyed it!
“Too much baseball”
BASED >>>>> 😂
I agree
Nothing to say about night swim but I'm sooo excited for the Saltburn review 😅
This review is giving me the 🤣🤣🤣!! ❤️❤️
Okay but your shirt tho>>>>>
my brother and I saw the trailer when we were watching the fnaf movie. since we were the only people in our theater we were just yelling "get out of the pool!" the whole time.
My family was deciding on a movie to watch and we were *this* close to picking this one (bc i love horror and 23 was an overall good year for the genre). My dad wanted to watch Iron Claw instead. Thank *god* .
the episode of Are you Afraid of the Dark, with the haunted pool was one of my favs!! so this is so disappointing!
8:43 sarah was spitting bars there
This is a movie I knew I never needed. Saw the first trailer when I went to Saw X and my immediate thought was, "Who wants to see this?"
