    Brilliant! I’m so glad you’re sharing your journey with us. You can see the joy in this sketch, it just looks fun! Your style is great, and unique. I’m loving the bent spire, it just adds to the fun feeling. You’ve definitely got the right idea, to do sketching for you!

    Hurray!!!!!!!!! This is gorgeous! That bent bit at the top of the turret - genius!!!! This video has such a good vibe! Thanks!

      Why thank you 😊 Yes I think the bent part looks like a wilted flower in a giant vase. This is my solution when I run out of room at the top 😅

    Ahh, the old Donald is back and the sketch is stunning. You do it how you want and enjoy yourself👍 love this castle, I think you should do a Scottish Heritage series and have them printed as cards, I am sure gift and art shops would sell them.

      Yes I’m back on track now 🙂 That would be great to do, although I’m not really sure what’s allowed when it comes to selling artwork depicting locations on private land. I think you’d need permission for something like that? Even things like statues in public places are copyright, not that it stops people drawing them. I recently read that the Eiffel Tower is copyright but only at night! How very odd.

      @@UrbanSketchy Mmmm, never thought about that…. The Eiffel Tower is an odd thing which I remember from discussions on photography forums some years back. Apparently it is the light show on the tower which is copyright to the designers. It is treated as an art exhibit I believe, hence the night time issue.

      Oh that makes sense. Not sure the Eiffel Tower at night would be a great sketching subject for me anyway 😁

    That is one great drawing and I love your new philosophy for drawing. Watching your videos brought back fun in drawing for me so thank you.

    Wow the sketch looks even better than the photo. Incredible!
    I also tried another medium (pastel) and it didn't work out so I went back to my usual graphite pencil style

      Thank you very much! Yes I think with art there are so many mediums and you have to try them or you’ll never know which one is for you. It’s also nice when you find the right one and can just settle into enjoying it.

    So happy to see you back enjoying your freestyle, whimsical sketches!! I know I've asked this before but don't remember: How speeded (is that a word?) up is your video?

    • @UrbanSketchy
      @UrbanSketchy  Před 2 lety +1

      Ah great, thank you. Me too! Sometimes you have to go through that experimental phase to find out what it is you really want to do.
      I can’t say for sure how speeded up this was in percentage terms as I retimed it for a set time rather than looking at the speed itself, but it was about 90 minutes to sketch in real-time. Cheers, Donald.

    Check out Steven Reddy - he has a kind-of same approach as you. The approach is valid, and works!

      Yes I know Steven’s work very well. I actually reviewed his book in an older video. He’s great!
