1. Open PS2Save Converter (X2Pconv.exe)
2. Click 'File'-> 'Open' then load your save file.
3. Once it's loaded, click 'File'->'Save' and save it with a name ending in .psu
DONE!
Are you working with an emulator save? (.PS2 FULL memory card)
1. Open mymc-gui.exe
2. Load up your virtual memory card
3. Click the save you want to export, then click 'File' ->'Export'
4. Make sure you save it as a .psu file!
Part 2: Transferring to PS2
1. Copy all your .psu files to a fat32 formatted Memory card.
2. Load up LaunchElf
3. Browse to your PSU files, mark (press 'X' on) all the files you want, then copy them
4. Browse to the root of your memory card (mc0= memory card 1, mc1=memory card 2)
5. And from the (R1) menu select 'PsuPaste'
6. If you get a prompt to overwrite that mean the save already exists,
7. Once the box goes away you should be all set, test your save!
Part 3: Exporting PS2 saves from real memory card.
1. Open 'launchelf'
2. Browse to the root of your memory card (mc0= memory card 1, mc1=memory card 2)
3. Press 'L1' to bring up the 'show content' window, then press 'Square' to show game titles, then 'Triangle' to close the window.
4. Press 'X' on the folders of the games you want to back up, and from the (R1) menu select 'copy'
5. Go to your flash drive 'Mass:/' then find a place to store your files then from the (R1) menu select 'PsuPaste'
6. you have the save files backed up in PSU format. You can convert them to whatever format you like, or import them into a virtual memory card with mymc-gui.exe
coooooooooool
Bro I like how u added each section into chapters, how u explained how it works and u were taking your time allowing us to see what u clicking on, deserve a sub
I just lost a 300+ hours Ratchet: Deadlocked save after my console froze during an auto save, there goes my childhood memories in the gutter. 5/6/2022 I’m marking this down, gosh dang. Thank you for this.
Funny thing that day is my birthday
@@Theventusdragon lol, happy belated birthday.
I feel the pain.
bruuuh i would probably break something if i lost my childhood R:D save
Holy shit I'm not familiar with that game in the series, what is there to do for 300+ hours???
Thank you so much, I wall super confused on what to do with the .max files but you solved the problem super easily. Once again thank you.
im so glad you can do this cause ive been thinking about getting a new ps2 and import my re4 save file from pcsx2 😭
Awesome. Thanks for this. I used to have a Max drive and can't find one as I used it to transfer downloaded saves. I have a Free McBoot memory card though so I'm so happy I can use this to transfer saves again.
Thank you! I've been at for a day and you answered my questions! Now I can finally play all the games I wanted as a kid on my original ps2 and I can move my emulator saves over!
Thanks so much literally the best video explaining everything in detail
Thanks so much! I was thinking of selling my modded PS2 and play all my games on my modded PS3, but I wanted to get my saves off of the memory cards before I did. I was trying to find those old official USB adapters Sony made for the PS3. Had no idea it would be as easy as copying them all to a USB drive! Thanks again!
this guide is saving my LIFE right now, thank you!!!
Thank you so much!! Very detailed video and to the point
thank you .
you saved my day.
40 hour play , with wrong stat.
and forgot to use double save game ~
thx a lot for the tutorial it was easier than I thought
Thanks a lot bro its really helped🙌
My ps2 finally kicked the bucket after 20 years. I’ve tried emulating in the past but without my original saves it never felt the same. Thank you for your tutorial
Have you considered on getting it repaired? Depending on what went wrong it might be a cheap fix, a lot of retro game stores offer second hand repair services & there is always people online who make that their business. Just something to think about if it meant something to you
thanks alot thats exactly what i needed
omg lifesaver man, thank you so much!!!!
Nice tutorial!
Quick video and very clear instructions. You don't waste the viewers' time and I appreciate it.
It works! Thanks!. I finnally don't need to play my God Of War 2, Ratchet and clank and lots in my PC!. Just got my first PS2. Im so happy with that
perfect, exactly what I needed
Thanks for the link to the converter
Thanks for the video mate. Curious would doing this exact method only with a PS1 memory card work as well both ways?
definitely deserve a sub
Thank you so much!
You can also convert max files to ps2 memory card using action replay max disc, just uncrush it after copying to memory card
THX. VERY helpful
Thank you for this guide - it's the best on YT. I am having an issue where uLaunchELF does not give me the option to Mark or show Menu once in the "mass" directory. It is reading my thumb drive and showing the .psu files, but I cannot mark them. Any idea how I might resolve? I am following this guide exactly, except my version of uLaunchELF is 4.43x rather than 4.43a. Thanks!
YOU ARE THE GOAT MAN!!!!!!!
Hello budy, how are you? Congratulations on the video, it's very explanatory. But I'm not able to open my MC. Every time I click on its executable, it closes at the same time, understand? Do you know what it can be? Thanks Bro!
Excellent. How about Mounting an OPL VMC in the PS2 and pasting a PSU within the VMC? any Tips? Getting "Failed to Paste"
Can you do this for ps1 saves?
Also if you want the saves from the usb to go back on a memory card do you just reverse the steps?
Thank you
Hey man, I’ve encountered 2 problems when doing this. The first one is that when I try to open the file in the converter the application crashes. I then used a different save and it shows the save on my memory card in the browser, but doesn’t load in the game. I’ve done this before for other games and it’s worked. Any idea?
Thanks for the great explanation! Would you know how to convert a save game .psu from North American version to European?
To convert your original PS2 saves to .psu, you have to add all three of the files: sys, icn/ico, and the games file name to the list then go to properties and change the name of the file which will be full SLUS or SCUS name of the game. I'll be uploading a video on how to do it. This part I had to figure out on my own because I haven't found a video that explains this part.
I’m stuck on the launch elf part like how does that part work from the ps2 itself? Do I need to download some software or??
preciate you so much
How do you do this if you have a PS2 to USB memory card adapter and you want to copy your physical memory card data for Haunting Ground PS2 onto pcsx2?
Muchas gracias, es unico!
Not sure if there is something wrong with the file I downloaded but the save won't show up in game and in mymc the directory says "NO_ROOT_NAME". Not sure what I'm missing for this to work on pcsx2.
Trying to download a 100% save file of Jak 3, but it's a CBS file and not a max, and can't convert it into the PS2 save converter. What am I doing wrong or what should I do?
I'm trying to copy my ps2 save to my pc using a adapter with my ps2 memory card attached but it not showing any. What program do I need ?
Will this procedure work for PS3? I can play PS2 games on PS3 and I have a PS2 memory card adapter for the PS3. If I save the converted file to a usb drive can I simply then copy this file using the PS3 usb port to the PS2 memory card using the PS3 memory card adapter? Thanks for any help.
Great tutorial, needed this. Do you know if you can play fan made ps1, /ps2 games, using free mc boot, burned disc, etc?
yes, for modded/fanmade ps1/ps2 games you can play them via OPL.
If you want to run them from burned discs you can look into ESR
@@BOBdotTXT please help me, how to convert my memory card from (.dat) to (.ps2)????
Did all that and the game icon appears on my memory card but when I check the saves in game, it says no data
I don't know how I didn't realize there was a PSU paste all this time that cuts process in half.
I used freemcboot to copy my saves from my actual PS2 memory card, to usb, then moved the files to my laptop. The saves ICO and sys format. I need to see how I can convert these files.
By any chance do you have the KH2 Final Mix save file that i can download
Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with this, so I’ve copied the steps on this and multiple tutorials and no matter what I do after transferring the game save sole to the memory card and I open any game it doesn’t see the save file but looking onto the memory card it is there
Not sure why nothing is showing up when I go to mass:/.. I formatted the USB drive several times but it's not working..
Edit: Figured it out, looked on another tutorial and the USB had to be formatted further with disk management so it can read on older consoles.
Can you do this without the MCboot memory card?
I don't know if I missed this, but does the PS2 go into that menu for the Launch ELF once you plug in the USB into the PS2?
Like do you have to plug in the USB with the save data, and then press something in particular to launch it? or just restart the PS2 and it will automatically go to that menu?
I'm referring to 04:52.
Also How did you record the PS2 screen directly? I've been wanting to record some gameplay from my PS2. Thank you in advance
Do I put the Memory Card into a PC memory card adaptor ??
Does this work for ps1 saves?
If I wanted to transfer a PS1 game, what file does the game have to be?
Fantastic video! Everything is clearly laid out and well explained. I was able to move a save from the web to my memory card without issue.
I would like to talk to someone about doing some customization on a PS2 Madden game. Is there a way I can contact you? I'm happy to provide my email address and I can describe what I would like to do here if that would help (although it will be getting away from the topic of this video).
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the gaming community!
Dude I'm very confused. You shot who and the what now?
I copied the memory card files to my usb just using my action replay max (opl usb in 1° slot, other storage usb on the 2° slot). I just copied the .max files from my memory card to my usb (on my ps2 slim) and done. Kinda slow process but that's how people backed up saves 15+ years ago (before opl)
yeah, action replay's still a valid option,
however free mcboot is much more accessible to new PS2 users, as it's generally easier to get.
Can i convert a .max or a .xps file to a .psv file?
PastePSU is blocked/inaccessible to me, yes I made sure I copied first, I just can't "paste psu". What am I doing wrong??? I did rename them but they are still psu files 🤷
Hell yes!!!!
Hey bro how to transfer pnach files in ps2 opl for cheats??
Hey can we recover save data for ps2 emulator
thank you, that soft doesnt work so it was very useful
how do i get launchelf on the ps2?
How can you do this with a ps1 memory card?
What about transferring to a jailbroken ps3?
Did I need a memory card adapter for pc or i can export to the usb and then with pass to memorycard?
this method will not require a memory card adaptor, it just uses a ps2 and usb drive,
you can watch the video to see the full process.
Hi, when I psupaste the gamesave it says "Name conflict for this folder: mc0:/BASLUS-20294USER/ With gamesave title: Undefined (Not a gamesave) Do you wish to overwrite it?"
I'm trying to overwrite my Gitaroo Man save, but once I load the save, it says there's no save data on the memory card.
hmm, if the title is showing as "Undefined" you may need to convert the file to a PSU again,
the old one may have gotten messed up.
I saw a ps2 memory card on Amazon the other day. Which was equipped with an SD card. Is it possible to copy your saves to it so that you can use the sd card on the PC for pcsx2?
Hi is it possible to transfer a ps2 save file (.psu) to the pscx2 emulator on Batocera??
you should be able to use myMC to import a .psu file into a virtual memory card
how about if i dont have any saved files in the game and i want to put saved files , not making any overwrite psu copy. does this matter? i tried it and dont work.
Yes, you can import a save even if you've never used that game with your memory card, just follow the part of this video that shows downloading a save from the internet.
Is there a way to import physical memory card saves to the emulator?
yes, that's what shown in this video
I'm going back to this tutorial once my Funtuna mmc arrives i can't wait to harvest my save files from my PS2 that's worth hours and i do not have the drive to unlock most of them LMAO XD
Is there a way that we can use the memory card to store notes we want to save like lyrics to a song or an essay?
I'm having a problem please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc
Remove any discs from your Console, that may fix the problem.
Is there a way to make a 256gb ps2 memory card read like a USB device on pc so I can save .txt files and the like to it?
Its not that easy still
is there a tutorial to do it the other way around?
It goes both ways
@@subtledemisefoxGood.
gamed ystaaaaaaaaaaa
what about .gci files?
those are for gamecube memory cards, this process is only ps2 files.
Mymc you nned to download NEWER VERSIONS!
Should be a little more detail on the converting of files to use for a emulator.
is there something you were not clear on?
I showed how to import the save in a Virtual memory card, once it's there it will load automatically in your emulator
your tutorial doesnt work
If you're having trouble with a process, asking questions or trying again is generally a better first step than assuming the process is flawed.
Also, just saying "this doesn't work" won't actually help me figure out where you're having trouble either.
In the future it may be more helpful if you simply state what part of the process you're having trouble with, and what steps you may have tried to correct it.
That way, there's at least a chance you'll be able to get a solution to your issue.
I never liked these weird programs for copying ps2 saves into the memory card. They look so primitive and annoying.
I wish Brook made a memory card that allowed you to just plug stuff quick and copy paste quick. They made a converter for modern controllers for the Dreamcast. This also included an integrated vmu memory card. And a little program to grab saves from the internet to the adapter. You plug the adapter to the Dreamcast, and boom all the saves are ready to use. No annoying Free McDonald and Will Ferrell Elf Launch or whatever this weird thing is.
Jesus christ, you'd think the emulator had all this built in. Flash drives, multiple apps needed. All to transfer a couple of max files to a pretend memory card so I can run a 20 year old game with updated rosters.
Thanks anyway.
How are you able to show your Ps2 screen on your PC though and how are you able to connect your Ps2 to your PC?
how to download ulaunchelf without a CD?? I have an unlocked PS2 that can play copied games but i dont have freemcboot
No cap this is the best method to transfer saves cause this worked on Narutimate Accel 2 and I can confirm it works on Japan changed region freemcboot. I’m running on 1.94 and it slaps! thanks for making this. Ive been wanting to play this game forever and I couldn’t figure out how til I came across this video
I used a sharkport to convert my saves like 15 year ago and could never use them
My problem is i have the raw files but no psu files:
..
5/03/2012 9:47 2,856 BASLUS-20774us000010
5/03/2012 9:47 13,936 culd.ico
5/03/2012 9:47 964 icon.sys
5/03/2012 9:47 256 PS2_MC_Backup_Attributes.BUP.bin
I have no idea how to convert this, after the fact, to the .psu files needed for PCSX2
AetherSX2 uLaunchELF_v4.42a
Are copied in phone memory
