In this video, I will show you one method of backing up your physical PS2 memory card saves and using them on PCSX2! The process is fairly straightforward but does require you to have a modded PS2.

I have a question -- I just finished saving the progress of my game (Call of Duty 3) on PCSX2 after I had originally started it on the PS2. After I copied the PCSX2 game save folder back to my PS2 memory card so that I can play it on my PS2, the PS2 version of Call of Duty 3 complains that the game save is corrupted. Is there something I did wrong?
OK, never mind, I figured it out. If I copy the COD3 save game folder straight from the PCXS2 memory card folder to the PS2, it will cause a corrupted save file in the PS2 game. The solution: In PCSX2 I had to convert the memory card folder to an 8MB virtual memory card, then use the MyMC software to extract the Call of Duty 3 save file. Then I unpacked it in my PS2. It now shows up correctly!

Thank you, not interested in using my saves in an emu but wanted to back up random saves I have on used memory cards, just for the sake of it, plus making a backup of the saves I actually made back in the day (never had a card fail yet but just in case).

for some reason my saves do not appear on the memory card in the browser. some of these are C files

I had only one problem...
I did this process for all of my ps2 memory card saves from different memory cards. Only two saves doesnt work. When i move these saves from usb pen to ps2 emulator memory card folder receive a message like "these files doesnt exist anymore" or something that means , as you explain in the vid i click to ignore and the system complete the transfer but when i start the game the saves doesnt be recognize from the emulator....
Do you know why? May i text to you on other app to ask you some help?

Question, in doing this would you also be able to uncompress save files? I have a few files on my memory cards from back in the day that were compressed via Action Replay/Gameshark and no longer have a way to uncompress them. Also thanks for the tutorial now I can actually back up my saves properly and archive them for later!
You would need to uncompress them with the tool you compressed them with

the brand and capacity of USB doesn't seem to matter. USB is backwards compatible meaning that newer USB protocols can interface with older ones. i just plugged in a generic Micro Center 128GB USB 3.1 drive, opened Rufus, formatted the drive as "Large FAT32" "Non bootable", and the PS2 recognized it.
if you are curious, the NTSC USA PS2 fat uses USB 1.1 protocol.
Congrats, you had a compatible drive. It is irresponsible to say standard and format don't matter when the PS2 has an extensive list of incompatible drives.
I just transferred my roms and using Ps2 emulator for the first time , but when It prompts me to save to memory card , it doesn’t let me save. How do you set up a memory card save ?

Have just some questions:
1)I have to buy that specific type of usb model from amazon or any usb model can be work?
2)On the website i see lot of ones paste the savedata from the ps2 memory card on mass(usb) through the command "psupaste". Can be the same or its better use your command as simple "paste"

For some reason, if you do a regular copy>paste on the PS2, when you go to copy the files to Windows, some of the files have filenames that are invalid for Windows and it will leave permanent folders and files on your system that can't be altered or deleted. I did psuPaste instead. Anyone know how to get rid of the corrupted files that are stuck on my windows PC?
So in this case we have to use the "psupaste" command and not the simple "paste" command and they will work?

@@andreadinapoli7229 yes psuPaste is the best option to avoid issues. It's also the easiest format to convert to PS3 virtual memory cards and for use on RPCS3 from what I've read online.

What skin do you have on PCSX2? It looks much better than the default one
It is the standard skin of the qt versions of PCSX2
