    Hey!
    I followed all instructions and it went smoothly in most cases.
    BUT!
    Unfortunately save from GTA:Vice City was somehow broken after conversion in PS2 SAVE BUILDER. The file seems okay, it was possible to convert it again with PSV Exporter and copy to PS3 memory card but game itself didn't see the save as valid. I tested it with PCSX2 emulator and again game didn't recognize the save after loading into memory card.
    I used both this method and method from another of your videos for PSX.
    In case anybody encounter the same issue - I fixed it with mymc (software to convert saves into format understood by PCSX2 emulator).
    Steps I took after exporting .psu savefile to pendrive from ps2 console (as video suggested, up to 9:20):
    1. Generate new memory card with PCSX2 emulator (In emulator: Config->Memory Card->Create)
    2. Open said memory card with Mymc-Alpha-2.7 software.
    3. Import your savefile in .psu format.
    4. Click this specific savefile in memory card element list.
    5. Export this savefile to .max format.
    6. Carry on as video suggested from 13:00.
    Hope it helps!

      That's encouraging to hear, because the voiceover in every video I've posted so far has a modicum of "suck" to it in one way or another. The voiceover I've been doing for other projects in the past couple of weeks is far, far more polished now that I'm trying to do it professionally.

    Badass tutorial, Bravo!
    However, better be sharp in order to succeed, and NO haste or things will be harder.
    To be honest, it would appear that PCSX2 turned out to be one of ultimate PS2 emulators along with PSP and PS1, the consoles are nice but the PC offers more benefits than you think.
    However, emulator still needs improved to make them more powerful to run smoothly and set to the best settings.
    I did this even my to PS3 60GB Vanilla and it worked.

      Excellent! I'm glad this worked for you! These days, I recommend trying the software I used in my PS1 tutorial. This method works great, but that other software makes this process take considerably less time and attention.

    Hi I was reading your description. My PS3 isn't modded and I was able to copy the files on. Or I believe so. However I can't check if the files are on since I don't have a Dualshock 3 or Sixaxis controller to access the PS2 emulator (currently using my PS4 controller 🤣). I'll come back to edit this comment when I get one and say if they work.

    Can you do this for ps1 saves?
    Also if you want the saves from the usb to go back on a memory card do you just reverse the steps?

    • @JLincW
      @JLincW  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Good questions! I have not tried converting any PS1 saves yet, but I am 99% certain it is possible with the software and equipment shown.
      For the second question, if you are asking whether or not you can take a save you've been playing on PS3 and continue that save file on a PS2 instead, the answer is YES, but with an asterisk! Neither PSV Exporter nor PS2SaveBuilder are able to export a .psu file type, so unfortunately you cannot as simply "reverse the steps". To convert a save backwards you'll need one more PC program, available here on the same site as those other programs:
      > www.ps2savetools.com/download/ps2-save-converter/ <
      -Begin the conversion process by copying your PS3's save file over to a connected USB drive, then take it over to the PC.
      -Next, go into PSV Exporter where you originally converted your MAX file to a PSV. Open the PSV file you just copied to the USB drive and use the program to export that PSV file into a MAX file type.
      -To do this, use the top left icon in the toolbar that reads "Load PSV File" and open the PSV. Then, click the rightmost black box icon in the toolbar that reads "Export as AR Max Save"
      -Now that you have the MAX file of the save, open up that new program you installed (PS2SaveConverter.exe)
      -Click the 'Open' button and find your .max file. Open that up and click Save. The default conversion format should be what you want (.psu)
      -Once it's a .psu file, you can put that file onto your USB drive and take it over to your PS2. Use your FMCB card just like before and go to uLaunchELF.
      -Open the file browser and go to your "mass" folder (USB Drive), find the PSU file, select it, hit the R1 button and select 'Copy'.
      -Navigate to your desired PS2 Memory Card and open that folder. Then hit R1 again and select "psuPaste".
      Voila! uLaunchELF should past the .psu file into the default Sony Memory Card format. From there, you should be able to pick that save file back up on your PS2.
      Hope this helps! I may actually make another video demonstrating the solutions to these questions eventually. Don't hold your breath for that though. Just follow these written directions and you should be fine!

    • @JLincW
      @JLincW  Před 6 měsíci +2

      P.S. There's also a program that can convert a PSV file DIRECTLY to a .psu file. It can really do it all! If I make another video on this, I'm going to show that program off too! it doesn't have a GUI like these though. It's a "Click-and-Drag" affair.
      You can get this program here:
      > github.com/bucanero/psv-save-converter/releases/tag/v1.2.1 <
      Supports Mac, Ubuntu Linux, and Windows (32 and 64 bit)
      I'm on 64bit Win, so I selected the fourth option in the list.
      The EXE file is contained in a folder called "build" within a tar.gz within a .zip. I extracted the folder from both those packages and opened it up. The .exe has no GUI as I said before. You just simply open another Explorer window and bring up your PSV out of the USB Drive. Click and drag the save file over to the EXE and release the mouse button. It'll make a PSU file for it straightaway. Put the PSU file in a spot you can find easily on your USB drive and then follow the PS2 directions in my first reply.
      In some ways it is easier and in other ways it isn't. It's good to have options though!

    I can't get ps2 save builder to open on my windows 11 pc

    • @JLincW
      @JLincW  Před 5 měsíci +2

      PS2 Save Builder does not run on Windows 11 straightaway. To fix this, right click on the .exe file and open the Properties menu. Go into the "Compatibility" submenu and enable Compatibility Mode by checking the box. In the Compatibility Mode box, select Windows 8.
      It should run fine in Compatibility Mode. I did not encounter this issue on Win10.
