He has magic fingers and eyes on eBay :-) And great you got help getting it to you. Yeah, those UK sellers are a problem. I have no clue too why they always refuse to send abroad. Same with my Fighter Buggy RX (that Derek found). Seller refused to let me buy it. And then suddenly Derek writes me saying he bought it for me :-) Love this RC community. Uhhhh, I got the Mad Bull coming up too in just a few hours. And yeah, I went for the non-box-art too :-) Looking forward following your Bull project. And will watch your last 2019 video. I used the mad bull to get my son into rc cars when he was 5. Added some police lights, window net (keeps dirt away and just looks cool). He runs it with a brushless motor and enjoys bashing it also 2 years later. Also took a lot of hits without problems. Good value and fun for that money. Enjoy your build

Fighter buggy was my first proper RC car. I was sooo excited when I got it. I used to run it so hard against my mates grasshopper and the only thing that failed was the speedo. Restoring it now with oil shocks and modded steering

I'd go all out with AmPro Engineering front and rear Suspension components, GOOD 1/16th Scale Aluminium Dampers, Team Associated High Performance Buggy Tyres......
And build something straight out of Alberto from AmPro's DAFT files!!

I've got the ftx vantage 2.0 shocks on mine work lovely.put the servo in too from vantage and made my own servo arm as the wire one kept popping out it's mental on 8.4 5000mah nimh lol.

Great video and really looking forward to the outcome. I considered a Madbull last summer as I didn't want anything too expensive just for a month or two of bashing. But a really clean & upgraded Manta Ray became available at an absolute bargin price, so I opted for that instead.
In hindsight I should have bought the Madbull as the Manta Ray plastics were so soft that after a couple of runs that gear box covers lifted and partially disingaged the transmission which resulted in vastly reduced power and grating.
The Madbull is definitely something I would like to buy so I'm eager to see how this turns out and runs, particularly with lipo.

Just a thought, but as the DT-01 Fighter Buggy RX chassis has the DT-01 Mad Fighter wheels on it, why not paint the Mad Bull body Mad Fighter Orange. You would then have a couple of Tamiya "Mad Mash Ups" 😀😀😀👍

I am sitting on an original Rookie Rabbit, cpr unit still works, just missing shocks and front rims, if you want another let me know , it would be reasonably priced, I got it out of japan fitted with hi caps and a technigold, which were removed instantly on arrival lol

I'm thinking that with the fighter buggy.. to do a rust type finish to it.. maybe a base colour of grey.. but then apply a rusting agent.. or if there is a way to salt it to make it rust.. doing the same to the rims.. kinda in a rat rod style... had also thought kinda making it like a drag car.. ..
Then again.. could go fluoro green and put paddle tyres on the rear..
Or leaving the car as is...(this is a if there is ice to run on.. making some nail ice racing tyres.. drawing pins thru the tyres or nails.. then pour a glue or resin. Or the expanding foam into the tyres while on the rim. So they are extra stiff.. .. might work might not..

When i was younger i remember a 4x4 looking type pick up (but 2 wheel drive) i think it was that had a button on the controller to pull wheelies, i think it had either a wheelie bar or a wheel in the chassis that lifted it.
I cant remember for sure as it wasn't my car but one i longed for , do you know if it was a Tamiya model?

The two trucks TNT’s spring to mind are the Subaru Brat and possibly the Lunchbox 🤔
I used to race the fighter buggy RX in oval track with some friends and I want a couple races even the friction shocks are not as bad as you think they don't handle that terribly I'd like to see you Lil filled on them.

Very informative! I never knew about the Rookie Rabbit! I love the Tamiya solid axle cars but always hated that dreaded slapping sound from the floating axle. Do you have any plans for a brace? I have used the Ampro brace on my Lunchbox and Grasshopper II and it has been great. Very little modification and still allows the axle some side to side movement.

Yeah it’s a slight different design on the DT-01, the gearbox pivots in the centre attached to the chassis, so I’m looking forward to seeing if that’s a improvement 🤔🤷🏼♂️

In some older forum posts I read about too much play between the steering arms / steering rod / servo saver assembly.
Some guys improved this by implementing a ball joint / turnbuckle modification.
I might consider this myself after building and testing the Bull when I get round to it in the new year.

I sprayed my Mad Bull a kind of Olive green and put UNSC lettering on it (HALO video games ;), black wheels of course :D. If Master Chief wasn't driving a Warthog, then he might drive a Mad Bull. They are slightly bonkers yet quite robust - you may need to re-do the steering linkage as there's a lot of slop out of the box.
